Wonderful New Scam...Watch Out Designers..

AMEN MERLYN! ok first off, the top designers KNOW HOW to mark their items for resale, never have I EVER seen an outfit for sale, by the designers involved in this, marked copyiable and transferable..this is an outright scam and these people must be stopped...PERIOD!

Sorry, but this is not the case. The eye dropper is documented to only allow you to grab a texture you have full rights to.

Also, they are not "clearing" out inventories...when I buy a fake outfit from said person's yard sale..and she slaps out another and another and another. They are cheap, fake knock off's that they are passing off as Nyte, Dazzle, Blaze items. I understand you wanting to try and protect your friend and that's fine, but after being approached about this, not only did the refuse to take them down, but it was made into a huge ordeal. Why can't they just put the items into a box MADE by them? Why does it have to be by another creator???? But people can go see for themselves, or I'd be happy to show you the outfits in game, how they look ON. Or geez, just look at the knock off pic. That's not "clearing out their stuff.." Someone has stolen a texture, put it back in game..and made cheap copies and is selling them out. Now, if these said people didn't do it, then they are just hurting themselves more by NOT saying where they got them. So...by keeping them up, and not taking them down, that is actually admitting some guilt. So they also have to deal with what comes with that.

I scooted over to one of the persons listed as a scammer, and in the box of a supposed designer item I couldn't tell who the creator of the clothing was when looking at properties, but the two prim skirts that were part of both outfits were apparently made by Ryan Linden. Does Ryan make clothing?

LOL no..I don't think so. But then again, have times gotten so hard that Ryan Linden has to spend his days making flexi prim skirts for BLAZE*???

I swung by this yard sale mentioned and while I didn't look around for long I did notice some freebies being sold, thought thankfully not at hugely exhorbitant prices. As for the other things mentioned in this thread, I couldn't find them but A) I didn't look at contents in boxes and B) I didnt buy anything to look at it closely. The following is the list of freebie items I saw being sold and the prices they are being sold for.
freebie - hooters outfit - 20L$
freebie - heart bikini - 10L$
freebie - pansie outfit- 20L$
freebie - purple bat renamed sexy spider - 20L$
freebie - queen anne - 20L$
freebie - masterbater - 50L$
freebie - sex stand - 50L$

Now I do understand that when someone runs a yardsale allowing others to place items there is sometimes the possibility someone, unknown to you, will place freebies for sale. I know that when I host my yardsales, I check for freebies being sold each day and return to the sender any I find with a warning. But that doesn't appear to be the case here, this looked like a one person yard sale.

A side note to Merlyn:
I noticed on your website you name three culprits. I won't post their names here but one of them with the initials SJ I was not even able to find in the search window. The other with the initials BC I couldn't find any connection to the yard sale owner JD anywhere. They don't have the same picks, aren't even members of any of the same groups. What are you claiming is the connection? How did you link these people to this? The person with the initials BC is a name I've heard around SL before. I'm not saying I know her or can make any claims to her guilt or innocence but you are claiming she's guilty so I'm wondering what your evidence is?

Witness statement -- the OP of this thread gave me the names and assured me that they are definitely involved.

As one person peripherally involved (as the rel of the freebie seller/ripoff scammer) admitted to passing things on to the person, I gather the other two have something to do with how she's getting the items to sell.

Ok first believe me I do understand the need to out theives and scammers, shame can be a nice preventative tool. However you are going on one person's word in naming other people and you have already had to retract one name you posted I noticed. In the case of the person with the initials JD there is proof, I saw some myself. But in the case of the other two people all you have is someone's word? Or am I misunderstanding? I'd be careful about that, you are affecting people's reputations.

So my next question would be has anyone spoken to the other people named yet and gotten their story? Has anyone located any actual proof the other people named are involved that can be verified?

Again I'm not defending anyone's guilt or innocence, I'm just saying proof is important.

I didn't exactly RETRACT the one name -- I modified -- she's still involved, as she gave items to the thieving b*tch that's selling them. And I seriously doubt that the OP would have named people that she could not directly identify as being involved -- probably by being the one who ripped off the texture (on which their name would be recorded as the "owner" at that point). So, yes, I trust my source.

You absolutely right Wanda...not one of theses "accused" has come here to try and redeem themselves. Granted, maybe they havent seen this post yet , but judging by the way one of them reacted last night , I doubt seriously she even knows how to read or locate a post, let alone try to defend herself

But seeing some of the Mischief boxes at that "yard sale" made me want to go look at more at the real Mischief store and look at their real stuff and wow... as a designer myself I am totally jealous! Adorable stuff! Made me want to go back into paintshop and practice my skills. LOL

I only stopped by JD's place, saw the same freebies you listed, she said she was old and sick and these things confused her so was cluless about what may be in the boxes that she bought in BULK from others. Do with that what you will.

Well, I did let the MAIN said person know about the post, and she did respond to me saying that I was lieing....but yet did not post to deffend? And I even told her to give her side..yet she still has not. BUT....said person has sent several of her friends/relatives to me and a few others, trying to "mediate" the situation..only to orbit us when we made our point. Actions speak WAY MORE then words on this... Seems people usally do go into a panic when their stone cold guilty.


On another note, as being the OP, I did give names when asked, and did put in a retraction on Candace Sullivan..b/c after a very long talk, I honestly did believe she had nothing to do with this person or their actions. So I did appologize for that, just as I would if we found out any other's involved were innocent parties, but as it stands now..they are not. I've talked with several nice designers tonight, I love that we all can ban together to try and brainstorm any sort of solution. This theft is getting just entirely out of hand. One day, I hope, we will have a better system for things like this.
