Oh good, I was about to make a phone call if they are still there...

No, the Linden's didn't take them down, go to the sims and check it out yourself.

Whoa, I figured out how they did it! *looks around* I accept bribes!

So is it an exploit or a bug?

Yep, I talked to them, one seemed like an arrogant ass, the other I didn't speak enough to even start a conversation. OnArt holds one of the sims though, I wonder if they were an alt, or sold it straight to the ower of OnArt.

"Guy Linden: I am looking, will forward it on"
Torley also answered with they're looking into it. This should be interesting. I hope LL charges them the 1k inital price at least, even though they already have it up for resell.

Edit: I see she responded here too... nevermind :p

It does pretty clearly show on the bid page that bids start at $1000 (although maybe that doesn't show up using the exploit). However, if it still holds, having those extra dollars tacked on the credit card might be painful.

you can be sure if these folks did pay only 1 US $ LL will eventually charge them the correct starting amount of 1000US$ .

there will be some very surprised and up set individuals.

Yes, they should be offered the choice of paying the full normal price or having their money refunded on the land reclaimed.

If they have already sold the land on, then by doing so they have shown that they knew the land was worth more than they paid for it and thus could not have been unaware that something was amiss with the auction price, so they should be charged regardless.

Looking around the land areas, it appears that they spotted some bulk added sims which hadn't weren't supposed to be auctioned yet and so had no minimum price set, bid on them, and then had an alt enter an extra bid so thet the auction counted as "started" and couldn't be undone. In other words, it's the "darnit I clicked the Sell box before I entered the price" bug, but on a Linden scale. :)

These aren't listed on the auction page, they are one that haven't had a set price set. Seems like manually starting sim auctions by the Lindens are starting to fail.

Well I wont name names but I just asked 2 of the people that have bought these sims for $1.00 if they REALLY got them for a $1, and they said yes...

Yes, it's a bug/exploit in their system. People can manually start auctions without a Linden setting a minimum price or listing them. So they go unnoticed.

checking some names of who won the auctions seems at least one is been around a while and has a substantial amount of land already.
would be a shame if they lost all because they were greedy.

Here is an auction in progress.

Please someone outbid this guy. :) You've got 21 hours before another sim gets sold for US$3 and your Premium memberships are garnished for the server setup cost.

There's more than just one :p. I hope the Lindens stop auctions until they get this sorted out. :(

Also, you can see people's names as they bid. Sounds like there will be a new auction system coming soon. :D

Sensual, bidding US$300 was a bit mean :( The idea is to stop anyone undercutting the LL base price of US$1000..

Its up for auction. LL can make a minimum bid of 1000 USD if they want (and they should) but since when should a player get to dictate the laws of supply and demand?

If a sim sells for 300, its on LLs head as to their loss. I could give a rats ass less about what someone else paid for theirs.

No, it isn't. LL set the price of US$1000 for a reason.

US$3 is certainly less than their cost for the hardware. US$300 may well be.

If LL don't get that money and the sale sticks, then the money for the hardware has to be paid by LL from the money they got from somewhere else. If you're a paying resident.. that means, from your money. Your premium payment, and your tier, isn't just going to keeping SL and your land online, it's going to let someone else buy a sim for next-to-nothing.
