I don't think that the casino is necessary in Neualtenburg, but I would not like gambling to be outlawed. Too oppressive. I am very excited about the possibilty of working with Kendra on building a classy casino...either city-owned or privately held.

I understand objections to casinos that are full of rows of mindless, noisy, chatty, blingy, laggy machines. No one plays the ones we have now anyway.

However, I do think that table games are a great way for people to be social and to get people to come and stay in our city. Card games now are limited and awkward in my opinion, but the HUDs in 1.7 will allow for greatly improved table games. I would fully support stocking the city's casion with only multiplayer games such as Let it Ride, Texas Hold'em, Craps, etc.

I'm not that taken with the idea of the "Retro Casino." I didn't understand what it was about when I first joined and still don't really get it now that it has been explained somewhat. It's cute to only have games that were from the early days of SL, but those scripts are just not meant for today's platform. If we update the scripts, they won't really be retro anymore. If we don't update the scripts....well. On the other hand, I'm all for a retro-style casino with a 20s/30s feel. Maybe with a dress code :)

I don't think that the city should build a casino in a new location if it will alienate any resident. However, I'm sure we can reach a compromise that's acceptable to everyone if we take a look at specifically what is it about casinos that are so distasteful. I have no interest in building a seedy casino. I do think that a well-built, tasteful casino would add some zest to the city and hopefully be a place where residents get together to hang out.

LIke I've said, if the city will not sanction it, I would be more than happy to renovate the Gasthaus for a a posh Casino/Cabaret and place it under Satch and Digi's management.

I'm leaning towards a Weihmar era establishment --very much Berlin artsy 1920's/30's feel. I of course will play the part of Lili Marlene.

Personally, I think it would be a good fit in the Altenburg section, and since I'm currently the only resident in that privately owned area...

You know what this means? A new outfit for sale - the full Cabaret :)

I'm a little frustrated because no one has responded to a single post I've made above and members of the RA have yet to publish the meeting minutes.

I've come in late to this thread because I haven't much interest in the Casino but I can see possibilities now if it's to be something more than a hall of machines.

I think its important to read this thread to realize how difficult it is for anyone who wants to create a larger project inside of Neualtenburg and doesn't have a special private section of the city. It won't be a breathing city if the only attractions inside the city walls are homes and traditional content (read:clothing) shops. I was guilty of overreacting yesterday because I felt like I was being treated like a sleezy run of the mill casino owner, and quite frankly I get more respect than that outside of the city walls. I'm a game developer, not a money hungry slot machine operator. But don't worry, everyone loves Kendra, and she wants to run a casino, so now everything is OK.

I think I've been overreacting as well. I'm going to drop out of the debate and concentrate on my own projects. If the majority feels that the biergarten should be renovated to hold gaming tables or machines, I won't argue about it. I trust that the right decisions will be made.

Correction. I have zero interest in running a casino. I have an extreme interest in helping you and Digi have a casino in Neualtenburg to run. Having it in the Gasthaus is just my personal offer of a potential way of making sure that happens.

As to whether or not everyone loves Kendra? That's highly debateable. I would say that everyone just thinks of me as Ulrika's pittbull.

I couldn't agree with you more that it is incredibly difficult to get a large scale projekt growing in the City. That is why I'm constantly working for more power to the PEOPLE thru the auspices of DIE GILDE and the SDF.

The chokehold of redtape and bureaucracy that has descended on our Government thru the machinations of the MPP and their fascist bent on privatization of Neualtenburg is making it ever apparent to me that great change is needed if we are to thrive as a City.

I am seriously considering running for RA as SDF's candidate next election cycle, and stepping down as Gildemeister. My platform will be first and foremost a Labor Party position placing more power into the hands of DIE GILDE.

If my representatives (RA and Guild) are listening, I do not support this in any way.
Could you please explain in what way any particular individual(s) (which seems to be suggested here, as opposed to all representatives) is/are "your" representatives?

And I do plan on hanging out there, even if I'm the only one. I find it relaxing and comforting.
Send me an IM and I am gonna join you.

1) I would like to take over the Biergarten as a privately owned business, and make a go of having a restaurant/biergarten that actually serves beer and food and has pleasant music. My reasons are selfish. I know I can make it a real showplace, and it's next to my Steinzeug --I'd like more foot traffic in that area --plus I've already created two rival breweries Altenbrau and Neubrau and make a great schnitzel and spaetzel. My goal being to bring the Biergarten to it's true potential and recognizing that it is a true landmark.
That sounds great!

Oh relax will ya. She obviously means, just like any citizen, exactly what she says.

"Her representatives" in the sense that she is a constituent.

I assumed she meant specifically the SDF representitives that are currently serving in the RA. As technically all of us in the RA are the representatives of every citizen, I thought by emphasising "my", that Ulrika was speaking specifically of the SDF party members on the RA. Which to me is valid and makes sense. :)

Yes --she was speaking in a Party sense --not the sense of a lobbyist with pols in her pocket.

Behold the power of italics! We have a representative government that holds seats on a representative assembly. I was asking the representatives of my party to make sure they represent my feelings during the next representative assembly meeting. :D

Or are you operating under the assumption that you eliminated the representative government, gave all alts a vote, and eliminated parties immediately after the election (post is here). ;)

I was actually going for playful. I added in a funny phrase "behold the power of italics" and then added two smilies to let folks know I was just having fun. :D

I believe that we have agreed to relocate the casino, although the location is still being negotiated, whether or not Digi and Satchmo would like to run it is up in the air, and the exact nature of the land deal is undefined.

Has there been any more thought on this subject or are we waiting for the next RA meeting for more information?

I was under the impression that the only thing that was agreed on for sure is that the current casino is history.

We've only agreed to remove the current casino, and that the city needs to get out of the Casino business.

Private business that occurs on private land and 100% meets the convenant doesn't warrant policy discussion.

Here is where the RA currently stands on this issue. As per our last meeting Action Summary:

Action for Agenda Item 5 and 6 Combined:
RA approves of the Guild removing/[storing] the current city Casino. The RA has the next seven days to discuss the private ownership of a casino within the city.

I'll be removing the casino this evening, and awaiting the decision of the RA on my Rathaus proposal, I will be replacing it with the original 3 storefronts that existed on that location in Anzere.
