Robin, I feel very fortunate that I had the chance to meet you, both inworld and in RL. I wish you much luck with your very bright future! You've done a lot of great things for secondlife and I'm sad to see you go. Happy dancing wherever life leads you and thank you for the bear and all you've done for us here in SL!

p.s. what a pretty garden you have here, I think I'll dance in it!

Wow, and I am sorta sad your leaving Robin. When I first joined SL back in 2006, I was invited to an Island by a fox named Tengu. I will never forget as we were walking along chatting and he was showing me around and teaching me the ins and outs of this amazing new world, all the sudden your chat came across the screen and yet I didn't see you anywhere. That scared the hell out of me and I have never forgot that incredible day. I asked him..."who is Robin Linden and why can't I see her?"

That event is what push started my quest to learn more about Virtual Reality. Good luck and thank you.

Best of luck in whatever you decide to do Robin. Your marketing work at LL has not gone unnoticed, but take some time to look around as you obviously have the smarts to do anything that catches your fancy and rl is too short to stay in the same field.

If Philip was the visionary father, Cory was the technological midwife, then you were the caring mother of Second Life. You will be missed as Robin Linden.

I can't really express how sad it makes me feel to see one of the greatest minds involved in developing virtual worlds leave Linden. I have to say that a huge and critically important part of the channel between the residents and the high level policy making part of the Lab feels like it has evaporated.

However I look forward to the future of role of Taliesin Protagonist with relish.

Dizzy couldn't have put it better. Around here, you were known as "the Mother that keeps the house in order while the kids get to play with their loud toys", meaning that no matter how insane the techies at LL behaved, we always knew you'd be around to put some sense into everything.

Ironically, it was one of your posts in these very forums that made me stick to Second Life: a challenge, launched in June 2004, a month or so before I ever logged in for the first time to SL: how to develop a model of self-government in SL with the residents? The challenge was answered shortly afterwards with a democratic, self-governed community that is still around and with a thriving community, even though all dreams of expanding it grid-wide have long since gone. But there was this magical touch of yours to know exactly what would make the community tick and how to get it working which we'll most sadly miss.

I'll also miss your quick answers to all sorts of weird requests. If technical support didn't answer, ask Robin. If you need an avatar created, ask Robin. If you need someone to give an interview, ask Robin. If you had a problem with inventory, ask Robin. If you have found something amazing in SL and wish to share, share with Robin. You were ubiquitously everywhere, always present in the hour of need, no matter how small the need or how insignificant the request. That will be very hard to replace indeed, if at all; I'm sure that as LL grows, the "need" to have someone so closely tied to the huge community will fade, mostly due to neglect, and it will become "secondary" in the long road ahead.

Then again, I'm quite sure that the Age of Robin at Linden Lab will be fondly remembered by millions of us, and nobody can take that away from you.

I deeply wish you good luck in your next endeavour, and I'm pretty sure you won't be very far away from SL.

I never met you, but I'm still sorry to see you go. Your fingerprints are all over much of what is good about Second Life. Whoever replaces you over community services will have a big job ahead of them.

But Due To Open Space Land Increases, Being Banned from SL for one day for merely Protesting, and also being harassed and having objects thrown at her and alot of other spam and abuse, for MERELY PROTESTING IN SL, I MUST SAY: To Many Of The Good Ones Are Already Gone, THANKS to OS Price INCREASE. NOBODY CAN REPLACE THEM or WHAT THEY GAVE. THERE IS NO COMPARISON WHICH WAS FAR MORE THEN YOU OR YOUR LINDEN TROLLS EVER GAVE.
