Best Wishes Robin! I can't wait to see where you pop up next and what you're working on! It seems like you like working at cool places like Maxis and Linden what a great career so far!!

Because I'm in Australia i found it hard to get to your office hours, but I made sure I came during holiday time and it was great to hear what you've been up to! :D

Best wishes for the future and thanks for all you've done :D

I take my hat off to you.. when times have been tough, you have ventured not only onto the forums, but in world, bearing the brunt of much hostility. That you have never shy'd away from. A true ambassador for Linden Labs and one which many others will be measured by.

I won't say farewell, only, until next time :¬) GL with your new horizons.

Goodbye & Hello
02-02-2009 17:36
Hi Robin:

The last time I wrote to you I was wondering what this whole SL Views thing was and what we would be doing as it kicked off its' first meeting in June of 2006. Just a few months prior, many folks, including yourself, had gathered to witness the 2nd Anniversary of Nova Albion on the Mainland. Magellan Linden had discovered that lost city in March of 2004 and had managed to find his way back for the celebration at the new Infohub. Now he is lost again, it seems, as he has moved on from the Di-Ingue Baughtian archipelago, the Heterocera Atoll, the continent of Gaeta and the recently emerged Nautilus City. It seems, like him, we are saying goodbye to you only to say hello again to Taliesan Protagonist!

As they say in New Babbage:

May thy stove be always embered.
May thy engine be always pressured.
And may steam and fortune
Always rise before thee!

Onward and Upward!

Robin, may you find success wherever you decide to go from here. A quote that I think sums up what you're doing right now.

Around here, however, we don’t look backwards for very long. We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new things… and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths

Robin,
All the very best to you as you ponder what might be an engrossing next step!

I well remember the first time I met you inworld. It was after winning an hour of your time in a charity auction for Hurricane Katrina victims. Web Page and I got to have a nice chat with you. Even in those brief minutes I recall being struck by your poise, articulation, and kindness. Any company muckety muck who donates her time for charity is okay in my book.

I have no doubt you will excel in whatever you set your heart to. See you in Alice sometime!

To all my Second Life friends,

After nearly seven years, I’ve decided to step down from my role at Linden Lab on February 15. I’m planning to take some time to explore a few different avenues as I decide where, when and what the next chapter of my life will entail.

See you in-world and in the forums!

-Robin Linden

Good luck Robin! This is a terrible time to be looking for a job... but at least SL is growing a little. And yoiu will still be around in the form of Taliesen :-)

I do not know you or have never meet you before, but from the replies I have seen in all the other threads and topics I can tell you were one good person and a friend to many. Robin I wish you the best of luck with what ever turns your way.

Sincerly

Robin,

You have always been very kind, helpful and put up with a lot of crap. Thank you for all that you have done. Now you get to enjoy your SL too.. Try to have fun as you have always encouraged folks to do and NEVER sweat the small stuff.

Take care,

Again, many thanks to you all.

@Kage - I remember that! I wasn't quite sure what to expect, but you and Web had planned such a great outing. :)

@Salazar - I still remember how impressed I was with your story telling, and how you needed that extra account so you wouldn't have to kill off a family member. :p

I hope to see you around one day, hopefully you will be able to spend some time in SL just hanging out and having a fun time and enjoying the wonderful world you helped build and make a very special place for us all.

Robin - Though not surprised, given the recent influx of shiny marketing types, I am saddened. To this still-newbie, you always were a touchstone, a glimpse of the grace that seems to have marked the early years of the SL community. In ways that we will never know, we will be the poorer for the absence of your voice in LL's decision-making, I think.

You are a unique talent, Robin. I hope we see you next in another role that showcases that talent. May you find what you most want.

I know you wish LL well (since I'm sure you're fully vested :D ); but further, I know that you wish - well, more than that - actively worked for the wellbeing of every resident of SL. Thank you.

A sad chapter for SL community but an understandable from your personal respective view.

Next to Philip you had been been the Mother of the Grid with whom we had some rowing but you were always caring, global thinking and willing for an open dialog, listening and often been the supporting voice of the community to the Lab.

You have been always a human avatare who were with us inworld as well as outworld like coming to the Ars Electronica RL to SL and SL to RL.

You made a difference and your footprints will be forever in the grid!
May your future be another great endeavour. Best of luck

Kudos to you!
Delphina

I had a sinking feeling something like this was coming, but I'm deeply grateful for the time and effort you've put into the community. You've been a major asset for LL, and you'll be sorely missed. That said, I hope you're looking forward to new challenges and opportunities--wherever you end up will be all the better for it. So I guess it comes down to this:

So long and thanks for all the coffee!

Missing you already,

Kam

Thanks a lot Robin, for being there to make SL more than just some servers and some engineers with weird ideas, for all these years.

And I wish you the best in any future endeavours.
