It's happening for me too again :(
RC5 seemed to virtually fix this problem for me but now it's back with a vengence!
This coupled with undo being messed up for building, means I'll have to go back to Cool Viewer for the time being :(
Yes I am upset, I'm halfway though a project I'd have liked to get finished this weekend.

I have exactly the same, only started with this RC, never had it before-like a permanent rendering hiccup. VERY annoying, as I only see it on my BRAND NEW computer that I specifically bought for a smoother SL experience. It has two NVidia 9800GT cards and runs on Windows-my laptop with a 8600M GS runs this RC as smoothly as ever.
So RC 5 was fine, RC 6 isn't- what have they changed that would have a result such as that? I simultaneously get a drop in FPS when the "stutter" occurs-the FPS meter seems to have the hiccup, too. VERY annoying.

ah, so it's not just chat lag making my words show up incomplete in the chat bar, even though i know i typed every letter correctly. it's annoying to have to keep going back to fix it over and over before i press enter.

That bug is pretty old, some were using the async thing as a partial workaround but that had problems of its own (slow to echo mostly).

This seems odd to me and I'm wondering what's changed too.
My machine is a little older than yours. I have an Intel iMac running 10.4.11 and my graphics is ATI Radeon X1600. Looks like it's not specifically tied to one set-up or another, be it system or graphics card.
Might be worth adding your comments to the JIRA that's on the go...

Old or not...it seems that the text handling should be an immediate and very serious problem even though SL is a graphically based system. Asynch may have caused problems, but unless they get text handling right...it is kind of difficult to say the least.

Memory: 4094 MB
OS Version: Microsoft Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (Build 6001)
Graphics Card Vendor: NVIDIA Corporation
Graphics Card: GeForce GTX 280/PCI/SSE2

The video card Memory is still not recognized. Limited to quarter of your video memory sure affects the enjoyment of the game with a big hit on performance. Can we get a status on this? Yo definitely can't go live with this viewer until this is fix.

Thought I should just point out that the freezes us Mac users are suffering from are much worse with higher concurrent users online. I personally was working away with virtually no freezes earlier on today. As soon as it gets to 60,000 users though, freezes start and get worse as more log in.
So far other than the Cool SL Viewer 1.19.0.5 (which seems not to like my sculpties) and the OnRez viewer I've not found a viewer I can use to fix this problem.
I shall add these comments to the JIRA VWR-11692.

b: is the teleport ok, i have the audio from the old teleport place. toggle or teleport to another place and back make not beter.

c: is the teleport ok, i have the landinfo from the old teleport place or no info over the top of the screen, you must restart.

d: is the teleport ok, i see only the SIM i have teleport, all land arround are water, you must restart.

2. voice:
sometimes the voice going or not

3. rezzing
the rezzingtime is very long or loading not complet (wait over 10 minutes and the avatars are grey and objects other avatare see i cant not see)

I tried again today, and didn't get any of those hiccups-yesterday it was something like 77,000 peope online and it was a permanent render hiccup, today it was about 60,000 and it was okay. So it might not be the viewer but the high concurrency?
I hate to say it, but maybe something to do with the 1.25 server update...?

My issues with this version are as follows:

1. At times when I accept items they randomly disappear. For example, notecards, gestures, objects and all if I accept will disappear at times. They do not reappear after clearing the cache, and they are not in the trash, lost and found or correct folder.

2. The texture picker takes FOREVER to load up and will freeze up my entire PC for at least a minute or so each time.

3. Trying to send an invite to someone for a group will freeze up the SL viewer and often cause a crash.

4. Working with the preferences will often freeze up the SL viewer.

I think that about covers it. :D

There is a Jira on this since release one. I don't have a number for it handy. If you are suffering with this same problem, do a search and plz place your vote. :)

Hmm, possibly this change is in your way?

Release Notes for Second Life 1.22(2) December 3rd, 2008

* Removed feature: Advanced > UI > Async Keystroke

I guess that means it's always tied to rendering now?

If it's always in the same mode, it always in the mode of having Async Keystrokes enabled or disabled?

Appears to be disabled, that was the old default. The source drop for RC6 doesn't seem to have happened yet, or is it hiding?

My memory is that Async Keyboard enabled (has the X) has been the default.

It's the way I've always seen it, and it's the way that works properly on my system.

Ah, there was a note in the public nightlies on what was done. The async method was removed because it was a choke point for the thread monitor under Windows.

The viewer did initiailize it to FALSE internally, but at some point the default settings.xml was made to flip it to 1.

At last I'm able to report that the problems I've been experiencing with the previous versions of this candidate are now gone. I am referring to the moving prims. I carried out several tests with individual prims, linked prims and entire buildings and all are completely stable. I also unlinked a building, which while using the previous version/s caused the building to fragment (similar to unlinking a physical build), this time all was fine.

I do notice this version like previous versions does tend to take a lot longer to rez textures and some objects than the default client. Other than that it seems good.

Perre..:)

The experience is exactly as i had prognosed.

VWR-8503 ( severly slower texture rendering since 1.21 ) is not solved.
Just a iniwinilittle better, but hardly enough to play Second Life with that !
I totally stand on my earlier post regarding this issue.

Stop diddling and fiddling.

1.20 is very ok, make that the mandatory viewer again, and call that 1.21B
From there... redevelop to 1.22.
If you have to roll back to earlier server code because of that, bad luck. You can also do that quickly we have seen.

Don't say: "but we are getting there...", i know that kind of talk from developers.

Instead of playing around 6 months and cripple everything, restart the iteration process from the 1.20 state.

I have now sold all my land in sl btw finally; am i going to reinvest? NOPE !
The declinement of inworld spendings is too much correlated with this issue.

You wouldn't want me as a CEO ! (lol).

I experienced an odd glitch last night, while using 1.22 RC6.

1. A friend's hug attachment would not work in the region where she had put it on, even though scripts in that region were enabled.

2. We teleported to my home sim. At that point, my movement controls would not work. The tranlational ones...arrow keys, or my Space Navigator. Rotating the avatar in place was still possible.

We did not try the hug attachment at this point. I logged out, cleared cache, and relogged. Movement was restored, and the hug attachment on my friend also worked.

Sounds like a typical server/network lag freeze. They used to be more common.

For me, the stability of 1.22.6 is vastly improved over previous RCs. *Eventually* (after several hours and many TPs) the viewer VMEM use rises to the 2gig level and things start disappearing. The first thing to go is distant void water (which turns sky-colored), followed eventually by parts of buildings and local sim water.

I don't have a repro, other than "run for a long time and go lots of places". Hope the crash reports are helpful.

I hope the crash reports you logged and got from me help. But this is not ready for prime time yet. Not even close.

I have random and unexplained crashes as I play. most of the time, the crash reporter doesn't even run, although it does so when I try to restart the viewer.

Textures are still slow and they still reload over and over and over again, particularly with regards to clothing.

Odd menus appeared while trying to edit the inventory of a prim. Said menus included "Add Friend" and other nonsense having nothing to do with the task at hand.

Asset would periodically refuse to let me see MY OWN SCRIPT as I was working.

The measure isn't "ready for prime time", the measure is "better than 1.21", which is a rather lower bar. :-)

But you've got quite a Whizzio's Quality Assortment (tm) of symptoms there that I haven't heard from others running point-six. I wonder why?

I doubt that that's an RC6 issue
