Isn't this a known mac-only bug on JIRA? Mac-only no more! I get this with the new RC and I'm on a Core 2 PC with a 512MB Nvidia 9800GT video card. Every three or four steps my avie freezes for 3-4 seconds. How do YOU spell show-stopper? lol. Guess I'll keep using KirstenLee's viewer until this RC cycle gets better. |

I wonder if that means it's an Apple (or ATI) issue? Not to play finger-point, but if it really is the same thing, and was fixed for nVidia but patching the OS... I'd imagine that if it were generic to the viewer patching the OS wouldn't fix it. Of course if it's a different failure mode with similar symptoms, then all bets are off. Just spitballing from first principles here... I really have no Mac expertese. This has occured to me too of course... the thing that bugs me is that it does not happen with any other applications that run on the Mac (at least not in my experience). So while it may be specific to Mac ATI drivers / GPU, it's also specific to SecondLife. The solution might be found via SL, or maybe it has to come from Apple, but either way, I *hope* some clever people are still working on it. I'd hate to have it just filed away as 'fixed' when it may not be. -Atashi _____________________

Shouldn't this be posted on the main blog? The status blog seems like an odd choice, especially *only* the status blog.
That said, it's improving, finally. I've still been using the 1.20 viewer because of all the gray, except when I had to compile scripts in Mono. This RC finally seems usable for me again from a visual point of view. |

Whoo way to go!
Texture loading is WAY more faster now and color matched attachments seem to be less off in color than the earlier RC release! If this viewer doesn't crash (which didn't happen for almost a month) You are getting two thumbs up! |

@Maggie Darwin hey! thank you for the link, but its not this bug, sadly. i have a "renderpause" (~ 0.5 sec) every 10 - 30 secs it starts imediatly after simlogin no crash or logout. as i said all works well, it feels and looks like im walking and make an autosnapshot every 10 - 30 sec smooth movement - snapshot - smooth movement - snapshot, ... no problem with v1.20.17 it only happens since v1.21.6 and with all rc 1.22x i have tested It's happening for me too again ![]() RC5 seemed to virtually fix this problem for me but now it's back with a vengence! This coupled with undo being messed up for building, means I'll have to go back to Cool Viewer for the time being ![]() Yes I am upset, I'm halfway though a project I'd have liked to get finished this weekend. _____________________

Texture loading has improved considerably in average sims. Unfortunately, in very high texture sims such as Sanctuary rock http://slurl.com/secondlife/Sanctuary%20Rock/128/128/2, texture loading appears to be just the same.
The first minute or so after I tp'ed in, everything was fine. And then texture loading gradually slowed down, and eventually stopped. Only half of the textures in the sim have loaded. Packet loss is normal, no network issues on my end. Everything is still working as it should. It is just textures that refuse to load. Edit: The map is loading significantly faster. Awesome job. I think the slow texture loading in Sanctuary Rock, could be attributed to the high avatar count present there. I have been to a few other high texture shops, and malls, and everything reasonably fine. Texture loading does slow down a bit at the end but it doesn't completely stop. |

If you don't like it don't use it *smile*. I know there are other options as far as viewers are concerned. It's just such a shame that this RC is so much worse than the last (for me). Just thought I should do my bit as a Mac user and let Dessie know that there's problems. Unless that's not what this thread is for? ![]() Windows CV had 4 RC's of the 1.22.6 RC. The latest one is one SVN iteration less than the "official one". Should be almost the same. Unfortunately I do not have much time to look at this RC6 for the next couple of days as I am f***ing busy in RL. ![]() Is this another client? Any chance of a link? _____________________

@Prawny
Yes, the previous question was about CoolViewer, edited in the meantime..and I was a bit aggressive in my answer...sorry. People bug too much. I've made some pre-RC versions before you can find at the link below. Hyang will made one soon for Mac too...as well as Henri for the next official version for all ![]() _____________________

Anyone else finding Ctrl-Z doesn't work to undo when building? EDIT: After relogging and rebooting, Ctrl-Z now works normally again. Hi Wulfric- we are aware of an intermittent bug where Ctrl-Z sometimes wont work. Check out http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-11581 and tell us if that describes your issue. |

That's it exactly, commented on the jira. Having the chat bar open causes Undo to fail, with the chat bar closed it works fine. |

I'd hate to have it just filed away as 'fixed' when it may not be. Hi Atashi- in order to not lose track of the issue you report on ATI, I created a new bug to track at: http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-11692 You're right, the old bug that was fixed with OSX 10.5.6 from Apple is already resolved and ceased to be tracked. I dont want to conflate that "fixed" bug with the problem you are experiencing. Please do help us update any details on VWR-11692. |

Is it just me or is there a problem with landmarks to places above 768m.
They seem to create fine, and the z co-ordindate seems correct in the landmark, however when you try to use the landmark instead of landing at 2000m or whatever you teleport in at 768m. Matthew |

Zooming out with my mouse wheel in the 1.22 RC versionS results in a "flat" (straight back with no height change) change of view. In the productions versions, zooming out resulted in a slight increase in height sorta on a curve instead of just straight back. Is this something adjustable or a complete change in the cam?

Something odd with the texture and colour pickers eyedropper tool. After using it, all prims of the object from which the texture or colour was copied using the eyedropper highlight in white and stay highlighted until either the edit box is closed or the eydropper is used on another object.
It's very disconcerting having two objects highlighted while working on one of them. See https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-11708 for screenshot. |

Text Handling
01-24-2009 11:59
I am going to try and describe something which only happens in this new Viewer and started with RC5 I think. There is something not correct in the way it is handling text. (that was real scientific i know!)...
Let me try and explain: As a techie i use AutoHotKey a well know open source tools used by programmers to shorten keystrokes etc. (it is the ultimate "macro" compiler if you will). It works in any program, this I can 100% guarantee and works in all viewers of SL including the Notecards until the RC5 and now RC6. Actually it does work, BUT, some change must have been implemented in Text handling even in fields (name, description etc.) not only in Chat. Thus I think it was a Global change. It seems that if you type REAL FAST or use something like Autohotkey, the RC truncates words and letters. For instance if I type Monday all over it appears as Monday. If i type it using RC5 or 6 the first M gets erased leaving "onday". Perhaps this sounds nutty, but I think something was "fixed" on the text handler which is causing this problem. Now one can live without Autohotkey (though it significantly speeds up work)...granted...but I have seen the text getting truncated when typing fast as well. (yeah yeah I know..i just spelled it wrong!)...but seriously...i think whatever was "fixed" or speeded up or whatever in text handling...is going to come back and bite us in the tush down the line cause I am sure I am not the only one seeing this happen... Anyways...those are my two cents on the matter.. _____________________

Release Notes for Second Life 1.22(2) December 3rd, 2008 * Removed feature: Advanced > UI > Async Keystroke I guess that means it's always tied to rendering now? |

Yay, textures do seem to be loading a bit faster in this release. Not wonderful, but an improvement. Thanks, LL!!!

I can tell you now with Asynchronous mode...something else will be effected... shrugs... ah, so it's not just chat lag making my words show up incomplete in the chat bar, even though i know i typed every letter correctly. it's annoying to have to keep going back to fix it over and over before i press enter. |
