OS Version: Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 3 (Build 2600)
Graphics Card Vendor: NVIDIA Corporation
Graphics Card: GeForce 8600 GTS/PCI/SSE2

I am getting a new message(for me anyway) when I'm just dragging a texture to the contents of an object;

"Inventory creation on in-world object failed"

It is very hard to catch this message as it pops up in the same place as friends going offline or coming online....which also seems to be happening with unusual frequency at this time.

I have a serious suspicion that all of these difficulties are at least partially a result of 1.24.10. Throughout the day (until I lost connection and now cannot log back in) I had noticed that regions on 1.24.10 had significantly more "lag" than regions on 1.24.9. Additionally, I would experience things such as failed transactions in those regions, but not in 1.24.9 regions.

I also had others who were complaining of "high lag in SL today" check the server-code version on the regions they were experiencing the high lag in - and it returned as 1.24.10 for them.

Brave LL ^^
12-29-2008 16:44
Well, what we do experience seem to be extraordinary database problems again...

Although all issues should have been fixed LL was so brave to run a rolling upgrade between Xmas and end of year - where most of the people are on holiday - and of course, logged into SL...

We had a peak of more than 71,000 users !!!!!
... during a rolling restart ... ^^

As we already knew a rolling restart causes unusual high load on the database as all inworld items are reloaded...

Maybe this planning was a bit too optimistic?

Hope they do not break it completely now ^^

I was having problems changing my skin so I logged out to reboot and again, I now cant get it. Arg! I notice the attendance count keeps getting less and less. When I first had probs it was 71k, then 66k, 61k, 38k, 34k, 32k, and now its at 31k. So slowly but surely, more people are getting booted from the system

Inworld services issues
Posted by Status Desk on December 29th, 2008 at 04:30 pm PST

[4:30PM Pacific] We are experiencing connection failures between parts of the grid. This problem will manifest itself inworld as failed Teleports, problems loading inventory, failure to fully rez (ruthing), etc. Some Residents are currently unable to log in, and we are working with our service provider to diagnose this as quickly as possible. In the mean time, please avoid making important transactions or rezzing no-copy objects.

I am in the process of deleting about 20 or more posts that are not on topic. Yes, there are network problems. No, I'm not going to give you any more details, because I don't want to rewards off-topic posting.

I'm going to lock further comments on this thread. I am busy enough that I can't afford the time to delete a whole bunch of posts that are off topic every time there's an unrelated network problem. (The web interface only allows me to delete one post at a time.) If you guys want to have a forum in which to discuss the rolling restarts or to discuss new releases, you need to keep it on topic, and not use the fact that it's an open forum with a Linden reading it as an excuse to turn it into a general support forum or a place to gripe. It won't do you any good, because I'm not the one working on the network problems, and all it does is spam under the real purpose of the forum.

The second-half rolling restart has begun. I've reopened comments on this thread. I'll again be idling at my island in Linden Village during the RR; you can find the location in the first item of my Picks.

Hang in there Prospero you're doing a fine job with the roll-outs! The current RR/code seems to be fine. I was at several busy clubs last night on both 1.24.9 and 1.24.10 and they all seemed fine performance-wise. And ... thank you for deleting the off-topic nonsense. I love following the RR's so please don't close this forum.

The rolling restart is about 70% complete -- although the central database is threatening to get angry, so I'm slowing it down to a crawl for a bit. I'll pick it back up if the database starts to look happy again.

Devocean sim has been down for just about an hour now. I know you said you slowed things down. Just hoping for some feedback. Thanks!

Why do you always do RR during the holidays? I read that all this was going to be postponed until after holidays, New Years,, Why oh why are you doing this?? i just do not get it! Your customers have more that once complained about holiday RR and grid work, why do you ruin our businesses and event plans for holiday things with this mess every time,, Can some one please explain?? This is not a security issue that has to be done ASAP. Why is it you have to do it NOW???? Now we have huge lag and just horrible conditions,,, sales have just drop to zero every time you all do this it takes us days to recover, god knows how many bugs will start popping up when you all are off for the holiday and we all sit here and suffer, this could have waited!

Congratulations! It seems a very smooth restart thus far. I have noticed no disturbances in my business day thus far. Thanks to LL for their efforts at maintaining stability. It is appreciated.

Oblivious, they're doing it now because as Prospero has said before (possibly in another thread) they need to get this done before January 5th to get the groundwork out for the script and other limitations for openspace and homestead sims.

Oh Prospero, and just how much support will there be over Christmas if 1.24.10 causes problems?

Reads announcement properly and sees it will only be Pilot Roll over Christmas. Bad luck for those on the Pilot Roll.

Is this cause of a bug ? > i can't log on and when i do i crash very time i click on a bed or voting box.

I know I am posting inappropriately BUT
01-01-2009 01:26
I need the most current and up to date info on ad farms....
You see, I cannot figure out how to post here (looked for 10 minutes and gave up)
and the ad farm 16 sq meters in the center of my land are going for 777 Lindens up to 10,000
so I wanted to know what the rules of conduct are?.... I'm tired, and sick, and tired and not going to pay that much for 16 square meters. Someone, anyone, please direct me to the appropriate channels....my email is ambushco@gmail.com or I am thebeadfairy Constantine on SL .....This is making me pull my hair out by the roots....this is so unfair, can anyone help me?

At least for the moment, super expensive tiny parcels are still allowed. If there is also annoying stuff on the parcel, you can report abuse on it in world with the category Harassment >Advert farms/visual spam. You can see what's allowed on that kind of land here, this list might make it easier to point out what's wrong in the AR:

RR Problems?
01-02-2009 17:38
I have now lost:

--All contacts
--All friends
--All Groups
--Chat Window
--Ability to respond to IMs
--Ability to edit my own objects or objects I won on my own land

I can still walk around and look at stuff but that's about it. Is this SL Hell?

SVC-3580 was repoened, now closed
01-03-2009 18:16
I happened to be back at ANWR today.

The anomalous behavior of SVC-3580 is gone on Second Life Server 1.24.10.106829.

Boxes drop into the hopper regardless of where I do or do not stand.

I'm gonna start keeping track of complete server build numbers, because "1.24.10" is obviously no longer enough to specify exactly what code is running in a region.

I'd really love to know exactly what changed between the initial pilot roll of 1.24.10 and the final .196829 version, because I noted post full 1.24.10 rollout that, by build numbers, ANWR was downlevel from our island sim for a while; ANWR was in the pilot roll and was not restarted until later. They're now on exactly the same build.

Maggie, that's really bizarre, because *nothing* related to physics changed between the 1.24.10 pilot and the final 1.24.10. All that changed was the adding of some logging needed by our data warehousing team.
