From: Verena Vuckovic The rolling restart occured on one of my sims....and ever since I now get this message when trying to wear a prim item on that sim :-
[10:30] Unable to create requested object. Please try again.
I do not get the error message on another sim of mine that has not had the update What is the affected region's name?

The affected region is called Escape. We have another region called Azure Aqua that has not had the update yet and there's no errors....but every time i try to rez certain items at Escape since the update I get
Unable to create requested object. Please try again.

I have exact the same message on the "Pleased" sim.
sim4286.agni.lindenlab.com (216.82.53.190:13013) Second Life Server 1.32.1.138516
People complaint some objects don't rez
Also some animations don't look like working the same way for everyone.

it seems to be a database related issue, with some items i get the dialog box "Failed to find clothing named ... in database". i get this regardless where i am, old server version or updated.

Hmm, well I allowed my entire inventory to load at the Azure Aqua sim...which had not yet had the udate. I tried to wear my 'Tousled' hair....and it wore fine.
I then go to Escape sim ( which has had the update )....and try to wear the same hair...and I get " Unable to create requested object. Please try again. ".
And its the same with multiple other inventory items. They rez OK on a sim that has not had the update.....but give the error on a sim that has.

Failed to find clothing in database
11-17-2009 11:44
Just logged in and I am white as can be. Shows I am wearing my clothing, just not on me. This is in Glumdale.... Thankfully, I have been given a new shirt and new pants to wear by someone.

On "Pleased", several people complaint the inventories don't list. Mine is fully listed, however, despite its 45,000 items. And I still have "Unable to create requested object. Please try again." popping in regularly every 5 minutes.

From: Lil Linden What is the affected region's name? I'm getting that self-same message at Freedonia located at sim7524.agni.lindenlab.com (216.82.35.17:12035) Second Life Server 1.32.1.138516, and have done despite several TPs and relogs. Nor can I save scripts; when I try I keep getting messages that it can't save stuff from my windows cache because of "unexpected server difficulties".

We found that problem on one sim which was early in the restarts: unexpected server difficulties when trying to save a notecard (same with scripts). Oskar Linden looked into it and found out a service on the sim host died. After he restarted that service all worked fine again. Maybe Lil can look into those above mentioned hosts aswell - not that it's related to the rolling restart of 1.32.1
Cobra
PS: I just checked on Freedonia: same issue! Repro: Create a notecard in your inventory, edit it, add some text, try to save it Result: "unexpected server difficulties" error

The "Unable to create requested object. Please try again." messages stopped for me in Pleased (last message at 12:36) and I can save scripts again. Also, the issues related with the animations is sorted.

The 'Unable To Create Requested Object' issue is now resolved at Escape sim.
My thanks to Lindens for a quick response.

Unable to create requested object. Please try again. I found the problem for this issue, and probably most of the other ones listed. A service (apache) failed to restart after the roll on about 2% of sims, which causes all sorts of strange issues. That was fixed about an hour ago. Let me know if you're still experiencing any problems.

BAN the Sion chickens and Corn
11-17-2009 15:37
Ban the Sion Chicken and Corn they are an ABSOLUTE scam and their scripts lag the SL universe I see them as an outright VIRUS.
In fact I think I'm going to file an AR saying so!
I suggest others should follow suit!

From: Lil Linden Let me know if you're still experiencing any problems. We noticed that the water level in Harrington was changed after the restart. It had been set for 23.5 but rose 30 during the restart.

Lag and Restarts
11-18-2009 09:24
As to the restarts - in the end, these are massive computers doing massive thousands of tasks per second, they are not magical. If you don't like the way Linden Labs does things and think you can do better, I'm sure they would love to hire someone with your expertise.
As for lag, I only experience lag when they do updates and people come out with some stupid new "viewer" to play SL with. The latest being Emerald. I don't know one person using Emerald who has not experienced multiple daily crashes. Simply put- the more toys you have, the harder SL works, the more prone it is to being a human-made machine and constantly needing restarting and maintenance.
I, use SL's viewer. I've probably had 3 or 4 crashes in the last month, twice I attribute to my personal computer. Am I missing out on some "cool toys", perhaps, but I have very few issues with SL and LL and I think given the challenges they face every hour- they are doing the best they can.

Howdy, Deven! I'm Meade. Nice to meetcha. From: Deven Karfield I don't know one person using Emerald who has not experienced multiple daily crashes. Oops! Now you can't say that any more... Sorry! From: Deven Karfield Simply put- the more toys you have, the harder SL works, the more prone it is to being a human-made machine and constantly needing restarting and maintenance. Interesting. What about the bugs and inefficiencies that Emerald devs fixed? Almost everybody reports that Emerald pumps out more fps than the standard viewer. How do you supposed they are doing that?

Clearly at the expense of others seeing as we've seen an increase in the need to have rolling restarts and substantial lag increases over the last couple weeks.
