Bring back???
They implemented it but never released it around the 1.8 release... it even showed up in the LSL editor and supposedly did something on the beta grid. Just the rumor set Prokofy off and they replaced it with llMapDestination.

So, they do the evens then the odds? Sounds nifty. By the time on the 18th, all regions should be on server version 1.32.1 I like it when they do the evens then the odds.

BTW I won't be on Second Life when the rolling restarts gets underway, however I will be on it when the rolling restarts is put on hold for the day.

Since 7:00 am SLT is 10:00 am my time, I will have to wake up at a later time than usual in RL.

Yeah, well, Prok needs less red meat in his diet. Should switch to chicken...

Could be one way to address the sionChicken problem brought up in Post #4 here... :p

Just wait till the Lindens kick you off your SIM at date/time mentioned here, HOPEFULLY you are able to re-log/tp a 15 min's later back in and HOPEFULLY the server software has been updated correctly... You MAY notice some more decrease in performance since last version, wich is common lately, lol... Or call it a *God's gift* that SIM's are restarting at ALL, maybe a total-fix outage isn't such a bad idear afterall...

Sowwy, bad joke but on(!)-topic... Hope tha Labs learn valluable lessons while developing the Enterprise solution, wich pretty much drains most of their resources atm., lol... Hope some of it makes it to the main-grid though (without making us pay even more ofcouse!).

*hugggs* Lil, keep talkin' :) , we realy, truely, highly appreciate your efforts!!!

I don't know if it is the update or not but today I found that EVERY chair and sofa seat in my store -- several hundred of them -- gives a script error on sit ( Could not find animation '00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000'). I have tried everything, including scrubbing and putting a new script in , restarting my sims, etc.

Is the update the likely cause?

What's the stats bar say for pending downloads? /me bets it's stuck and not where it should be, really close to 0. That's usually a sign that the sim is having problems talking to asset servers and such..

edit: and if my guess is right, it deserves a support ticket.

Thanks, Sindy -- pending downloads is 0. I have restarted the sims, so I guess the next step is a ticket.

Did you see that at the Status Grid page the rolling restart are marked at the wrong week days?
http://status.secondlifegrid.net/

* 2009-11-17, Wednesday, 7am - Deploy to even numbered sim hosts
* 2009-11-18, Thursday, 7am - Deploy to odd numbered sim hosts

Thank you, I thought I'd be the only one wondering whether it was Wednesday OR the 17th now ^^ Funny thing is, that I received 45 e-mails from my vendors last night already that re-registered with our backend because of region restarts o.O Some kind of preparation going on? ;)

/me reads backscroll... O.o

My apologies for not jumping in here sooner! It looks like the issues on everyone's minds are:
1) WTF were last week's rolling restarts about
2) Lil can't use a calendar
3) SVC-4196, of course!
4) On/off topic posts

I'll address these as I get some time during the roll today, which has indeed started.

1) WTF were last week's rolling restarts about?

We performed a fairly large hardware maintenance (~2000 affected regions) in our DFW colo last week that was communicated as a "rolling restart" on the status blog. While that's technically accurate, it wasn't a deploy of any new code like these rolling restarts are, and was handled by different people (my old Ops buddies & the DNOC).

We definitely could have communicated that better. I've been working with Ops & DNOC to get more of these kinds of things on the Release blog so that you guys have a heads up.

2) Lil can't use a calendar

Yeah, it's true. But I'm working on it, and getting better! In the mean time, feel free to ping me in-world if you see anything fishy in any of my posts. Your efforts will be rewarded with a Lil Linden Bear :)

3) SVC-4196

Hey look! Something shiny! In all seriousness, this one's been covered already. When there's some news, you guys will be the first to know!

4) On/Off topic posts

I've noticed that in the past off topic posts have been deleted. I'm obviously not doing that, and won't unless someone's being flat out mean/rude/insulting. However, if the consensus here is that this forum would be more useful to you guys with seriously OT posts removed, let me know what you think and we can give it a shot.

/me votes against ever removing posts, unless they're waaaaaaaaay, waaaaaaaaaaaaay out of line. It's drama bait to just delete a post.

If you feel a serious need to remove what somebody said, and that does happen, please edit their post and put a comment in there that you edited out something.

One thing I've always liked about the mods here in these forums is that they seemed to at least try to be as transparent as possible - very, very rarely did we see edits, deletes, moves, locks and such without a comment from the mod. Sadly, the new blogrums do not have such moderators..

Time information
11-17-2009 09:59
A minor detail - on Grid status there are always time references, which is nice. However, I would just like as so many others before me, to encourage Linden to have a clock running on Gris Status page as a service to those "few" not being of US origin - it should not be that difficult to make one with either sl time or option to set for local time.

Aside from adding my voice to those who would like to know what the just concluded restarts were all about, I too hope that:

(a) the horrific render times and low bandwidth issues are being fixed in this deploy;
(b) the the 2nd TP right after having completed a TP is also fixed. That's an OLD problem which seems to have reappeared of late.

Yes thank you thought i was doing something weird with that double TP very frustrating.
