The severity of the issue dictates when we do the roll, as judged by our Support staff. It is unfortunate for many people that this turned up right before NYE. Still, your sim should only be down for ~30 minutes, and that hopefully won't be at 23:59:59. As always, if anyone's sim is down longer than 30 minutes due to the roll, post in here and I will help get it back up and running. I think we're all a little too used to the fact that QA at the Lab is basically non-existent... This sort of thing should never happen, much less on one of the most popular international holidays of the year. Incompetence rolls downhill... Happy New Year! |

Well glad we got the update before some twit took advantage of it but its a shame that I am now getting unable to create requested object on everything I try to wear or rez on our sim now

Yes, there appear to be more issues here. My partner reports not being able to run new scripts in the recently restarted sim.

That is incredible, I mean im ok, we've had ours, I just got in to see the news but why on earth isn't it just loaded to the racks and then wait till tomorrow with a small team of hand holders on watch, that way anything that crashes on its own gets the new server, and the rest of SL US and your own staff get to have a happy new year?

Asset server is down, and right now, we need the asset server for a party that we're going to be having starting at 8 p.m. SLT. Hell, one of our people tried logging on, and stuff will not load for him.

All's going well on my end. No problems to report as of now. No problem rezzing (myself or objects) and uploading is proceeding as expected.
And to those who complain about this... As a software developer that can sympathize with LL: just stop whining. Yes, this inconveniences a portion of us. And no, it's not something we want to deal with right now, but this is an EMERGENCY measure taken to ensure YOUR (account's) safety. If the 'bug' that was corrected related to ability for everybody with the name Bob to steal any texture and script he pleases, I'm sure everyone would be a little more thankful it was nipped in the bud. I for one am graciously thanking the Lindens, who are taking time out of their personal lives (developers have families and friends, if you didn't know) to make our 'world' better. Those who aren't staying on the grid tonight: Be safe and enjoy the festivities. CB |

I wouldnt call it whining. I would call it letting LL know that there are issues with the update since not all of us are able to afford to be paying for our accounts and report them in the proper way.

Update @ 2009-12-31 @ 18:50 - The roll is 25% complete Update @ 2009-12-31 @ 17:00 - The roll has started Hi everybody! There's a nasty sim-crasher on the loose that needs to get patched. A fix is currently in QA, and the roll will begin as soon as it passes. I'd estimate that will be around 18:00 PST, though hopefully sooner. Evens & odds will be going at the same time. * 2009-12-31 ~ 18:00: Start 100% sim roll. Apologies for any inconveniences this might have to NYE events in-world. However, I assure you the fix will save everyone more trouble than the roll causes. This roll's theme song is an oldie; in fact, I've loved to hate it for exactly 10 years. Enjoy! You're going to have to explain really, really hard why crashing our sim at midnight ET on New Years Eve was so absolutely necessary and the usual Lindenesque handwaving about "trust us, SEC-issue" isn't going to cut it this time.

worst time evr guys for sim restart did you now realy had to do it on new years eve???
now our sim is offline for more then 20min and we cant get back to party , sim restart on 12:02am is not nice.... and fix delay restart button couse we couldend do that ether (sim Mystic Meadows still off) edit back on now but 25min... is long to be off |
