Unfair Ban

I tend to go with the motto "if it isnt directly affecting me then i dont ar BUT.

I have seen some very strange things in SL...avatars with pig tails and pacifiers..blood panties...in a sex sim....tawkin wike a baby in der pwofile. I immidiately message the SIM owner. The SIM owner stands to lose everything if some media establishment chooses to report that or spalsh pictures all over the net.

i dont know what to say about a persons right to skew the lines of reality and fantasy.If it looks walks and quacks like a duck it prolly is.. I tend to avoid child avatars in general . I see all that baby talk in profiles and just move on. Same goes with people talki ng about their mum and Dad and brothers and sisters.

Was a hand full of people with that mentality in SL back in 04..now its everywhere. Never could understand the mystique behind finding virtual parents. That many latch key kids in RL and SL baby sits them?

An adult dressed avatar was standing not far from me calling everyone beautiful, when she called me it, I said thank you and told her to be fussy with her compliments. lol!
She asked how many "worlds" sl had, I did not get what she meant at first and asked her to expand on that, she said where do the kids hang out... I assumed at first she meant to roleplay as a child..this is when she said she was 11, I asked again how old she was in chat because yes I had every intention of copying it to pass on to LL.. she said 11 again and said her birth year. I said to her that kids of her age really should not be on SL..she then went on to talk about star signs.

What would you of done?

Aww, Jump. Just don't tell anybody anymore that you're underage. Tell them that you're 18 -1/2 and BAA-AA-AA-AAD!

I do make clothes or something. I would also AR somebody if they told me they were only 11, and if their conversational skills led me to believe that this could damn well be true. So, I'm a rat. Pass me some of that there cheese, Jumpy.

Whether you would have reported it or not is one thing.

Being vulnerable to false reports are another. Why should someone who is payment info on file AND Age verified be subject to account suspensions on the simple "word" of a total stranger?

In the very least they should be given a day or two of *PENDING* suspension to provide the documents, so their service isn't interrupted.

And the Lindens dropping the ball after documentation is given should be a very serious thing. They already treated someone as guilty until proven innocent, to further disrespect a customer by not getting their service turned back on without follow up is really pathetic.

Yes I am a Mom too. And yes it is MY responsibility if my kids use the internet to access something they shouldn't. It is not the fault of some computer service.

It is the fault of the child breaking the rules and the responsibility of the Parent.

As far as the kid avs being reported as underage for just being kid avs?

those ARs should probably just be thrown out without investigation.

If it says "so and so is a kid Av and they act underage, maybe the are?" or something to that effect ==========> automatic AR delete.

But if they ARE forced to provide documentation, then LL should flag their account somehow so in the very least they don't have to provide it again the next time.

I was the sneakiest, most underhanded kid on earth. I was manipulative and everyone thought I was the sweetest thing they'd ever seen. From a little kid through high school I got away with murder.

Do I trust my kid? Absolutely.....yet not for one second.

Come on people. You can't save the world you know. Just because you believe someone is under age doesn't justify you reporting them because according to you, you care. It's not your problem, just make sure you're kids aren't doing it and everything will take care of itself.

I verified my age as soon as it was possible exactly because of this danger. Now reading that this isn't enough to really protect me from this BS makes me really mad.

The grid is limited to 'adults' of age 18 and above, minors are supposed to be restricted to the teen grid. ARing those who state that they are underage IS justified.



That's absolutely wrong. THEY have brought it upon themselves by stating they're underage.

I have to agree with Colette. The way underage ARs are handled right now makes them the ultimate griefer tool. Bad enough when it hits people who just are not age verified, who get suspended without warning and chance to verify their age BEFORE they are suspended. Getting your account back takes days to weeks - imagine you are holding land (on private estate, I'm sure LL would still charge a suspended account for mainland tiers) or have an inworld business to run. You could lose lots, your whole basis for your SL! It happened to friends of mine before, with smaller or bigger consequences. Just yesterday a befriended DJ couldn't do his show because he was AR'd for being underage - and on the weekend nobody at LL checks the fax machine with the sent proof that he isn't.
