I was just reading an article in the New Yorker about certain outsider species like Burmese pythons and Nile monitors that are breeding in the Florida swamps. It's only a matter of time before there are human fatalities and biologists have expressed the sentiment that it's time to stop studying them and start killing them.

I believe your particular skills and temperament are needed in Florida.

We had a nile monitor that someone had released in my city here (florida) he was there YEARS I assume eating the rodents etc.. but he made the mistake of going after a small dog and caused a huge ruckus here... Then a stupid female cop saw him one day and shot it... No bother bringing in a tracker and trapping it, this dumb cop shot it.. so it slinked away and no one ever knew where it went or seen it again...

People were PISSED at her and at the person who released him in the first place... You would not believe the amount of green iguanas in south florida... you see them everywhere.... people get these thigns as pets and they get to big or for whatever reason they release them.

Are dragons considered furries?

The New Yorker article is quite interesting. Apparently they aren't sure how great the range of the Burmese python is - it might be able to exist in a large part of the United States. They get rather large and have even eaten alligators, so humans are not at all off their list of potential snacks.

If they're anthropomorphic, yes. Most are not, or borderline at most.

Oh snap!

Seriously though, aside from the combat enabled areas most places don't like folks armed to the teeth carrying weapons around. Some places let you wear them in holsters, but if you have one in your hands its considered live and ready to use. Which puts folks on edge, they are there to have a good time or collaborate on things, and don't need a trigger happy gunman barging in on things. That sort of thing leads to an AR and banishment from that location.

Even the smallest of avatars can return fire with a gun the size of a mack truck. :D

Do not underestimate the Other Sub group!

what!? if you mean actual subs, then sorry I still see a higher percentage in the fur community... followed by the steampunk community, and then maybe followed by the subs goths, and technocracy types. (not that there aren't lots of crossovers in those communities)

I think it has to do more with a certain type of creativity than a need to "roll your own" (thought that doesn't hurt).... dissatisfaction with status quo breeds it I think.

I can't see their range extending too far North. Maybe as far as North Carolina.

Once they hit Pennsylvania, New York, Illinois, Vermont, etc.... then they'd better learn to cope with freezing temperatures.

Can they hibernate??

a higher percentage than any other sub group from what I've seen.

Got to give them at least one. They did snag a couple out of the gate.

Nah, that's why I began the post with "srsly" - still, where there is smoke there is SOME kind of fire. I wouldn't call the OP a furries fan.

Just let an avi come in looking like a 4yo girl, and everyone raises a stink, but treat an avi that looks like a wolf like a wolf, and I am the bad guy.

I was married to a werewolf in sl for my first few months. He used to chase me all over Chaska sim. Then I had an affair.
He actually howled!! At night. And rode a motorbike. A howling wolf on a motorbike. What a weird place we live in ...

I've definitely seen more subs, zeppelins, and other exotic transport in the steampunk community.

Anthropomorphism does not make a Dragon into a Furry.

The accepted definition of furry among artists is an animal with humanoid traits, primarily having a humanoid body/torso. That means that anthro birds, reptiles, fish, etc are all considered furries.

What it means to lifestylers, writers, etc, however, varies. My definition was meant to be applied to a character design, nothing more. Not having fur doesn't mean a character isn't a furry (see also "funny animal";) and in fact, I've known many dragons with fur as well. :D
