You can shoot furries on Adult land, right? I think it's open season on Zindra, on Linden-owned land. On private land, you might be required to have sex with them first before you can shoot them.
The gray area is nekos. They're almost furry, but not quite. The rules are so fuzzy about that, and about human avatars with ear sliders set to 100% Pointy.

From: Vorren Voltaire I can see hows the orginal poster would be confused. Most folk just think that avatars are just avatars, and it seems like alot of the furries I've met take their avatars a little more personally, even creating a character around it and roleplaying out animal traits.
To someone unfamiliar with that sort of behavior it might be confusing how to react/interact.
Especially if he asks about it somewhere and gets trashed as an Obvious Troll.
LOL "I can see how the original poster would be confused"???????????? This is SL. What confusion is there when you see a dog avatar? Do you think that a dog in RL is accessing SL to live out the virtual life he can't have in the real? Whatever. Don't make excuses for absolute moronic troll stupidity.

I can see a legitimate concern in there, though the wording is like.. whacked. From what I've seen of any animal-based AV's, it's usually the more true-to-RL animal forms that tend to roleplay.. dogs, cats, etc.. some very good at it. Likewise I don't recall meeting ANY anthro-furries that really roleplay the animal side other than to be cute or whatnot. Many are so decked out in human gear you can't even tell what breed/species they're supposed to be. Fantasy types like werewolves and such are just plain hard to tell until you say hello. In any case however, the *best* advice I can think of is don't be a dick and point weapons at them to see how they react lol. Oh.. and if they don't look and act like a real life animal.. Don't "pet" them... Or you may get more than you bargained for

From: Osprey Therian I was just reading an article in the New Yorker about certain outsider species like Burmese pythons and Nile monitors that are breeding in the Florida swamps. It's only a matter of time before there are human fatalities and biologists have expressed the sentiment that it's time to stop studying them and start killing them.
I believe your particular skills and temperament are needed in Florida. Oh we have enough idiots here as it is

I have not seen more then two people in here legitimately respond. I don't think anyone really is taking it seriously.
I am not sure how anyone could take it seriously.

From: Clarissa Lowell srsly?
Not supposed to point a gun at another avatar in Second Life unless it's an agreed part of roleplay usually on a roleplay sim. To do so is usually seen as griefing that person. (Doesn't matter if it is an animal avatar or human or furry or robot or.....) But what if he wanted to be a badass gansta avatar?

The only thing the OP is confused about is that he thinks the other participants in SL are NPCs and not other people. If he is adult then he must be aware that role play is consentual and that there would be obvious hunting sims he'd look up instead of assault other people who come here to pursue THEIR interests. I guess he IS either a criminal or a troll when you think about it.

Because not all furries are about I'm a wolf, I'm not human". Some are, but there's also those that derived their style from some Anime or sci-fi styles, where furry humanoids are a result of genetic engineering (Like Splinter from Ninja Turtles) or simply from another world (I believe Larry Niven had some good stories about feline humanoid aliens, the idea was later used in the Wing Commander games).

I just like the style. On SL in avatars. On the web, on furry artwork sites. In real life in the form of going to conventions, wearing a tail and ears with friends.
It's fun because it's cute. Or playful. Or other words that can be linked to animals. It's not that complex or "deep" for me.

From: Scout Schwager I mean, they are playing animals that stand and talk. If I treat them like an animal (as in pulling a gun on them), they act all offended. You see an animal, in RL, and you automatically pull a gun on it? And you're not in jail yet? You're lucky. From: someone Just let an avi come in looking like a 4yo girl, and everyone raises a stink Only if they're jerks. From: someone Dogs would be an exception. Dogs coexist well with hunter-humans. But no-one is a dog here. Why is that? Dogs and wolves are different breeds of the same species, son. I'd be proud to have a wolf in mah family, son, for all ah'm a po-lice pup.

From: Conifer Dada I've always assumed that most furries are humans dressed up in animal outfits. There's a few like that in RL, but in SL? The mesh is so badly done the base avatar often looks like a bunch of disconnected prims. You ever sat down and looked at the gap between the stomach and the chest sections? And the avatar butt is so ugly I can't stand looking at one that doesn't have a tail. Some of the recent sculpted prim avatars are smoother and better articulated than the underlying mesh.

Oh no, obviously that's just silly. All the RL dogs are wearing human avatars so they don't draw attention to themselves
