From: Brieanne Bomazi The actual emerald code, which implements these changes ARE NOT. LL can't snag & use without permission. What "actual emerald code" are you referring to? Does their viewer make use of a separate executable or server which is NOT part of their viewer? Modular Systems would have to architect their code VERY carefully to be able to sequester any viewer function from having to be open source. It would be a difficult and painstaking task. Otherwise they would be in violation of the GNU license, which governs distribution of LL's code: http://secondlifegrid.net/technology-programs/license-virtual-world/viewerlicensingIndeed, Modular seems well aware of this: From: Modular Systems How do you know we aren't stealing your passwords? Because we release the exact source we used to build this viewer with along with every release (we are required to by LAW).

From: someone One doesn't have to be using Emerald to have their bewbs jiggle for someone who is using it.. every woman jiggles I realise that - presumably the effect will eventually be tied to the avatar appearance so the jiggle can be personalised.

From: someone These are things LL said couldn't be done. Yet here they are. and contrary to popular belief... On the other hand, it used to be said by some on these forums that it would never be possible to have proper shadows in SL - but LL have now got that very option buried away in the 1.23 viewer, although at present it slows the frame rate down a lot.

I was just checking out the multiple clothing layers option on Emerald - I couldn't get it to work. Then I looked on the Emerald forums and apparently you can't do extra clothing layers yet. All you get is a button saying 'layers' in place of the stack of clothing buttons in appearance editor. But the button doesn't do anything meaningful.
I thought I'd save people some time so they don't waste half an hour trying to figure out how to make extra layers!!!

From: Bracken Back I always been a beliver that more than a handful was a waste. And more than a mouthful is greedy. From: LittleMe Jewell On the options for the boobies bouncing - I was told to set the first one high, the second one low, and the 3rd one high. *THREE* bewbs? /me is confused. From: Dagmar Heideman Since you gave the green light You promised you wouldn't publish stills if I webcammed with you! From: Scylla Rhiadra It's like equipping the male population of SL with X-Ray glasses. Which, I'm sure, will be the NEXT "Great Leap Forward." I have news for you, Scylla, it's already possible - and I use the facility. From: Scylla Rhiadra Really, you see, it's all about a woman's fundamental right to choose, and her right to have complete control over her own body Not on *my* screen. Pep (In the 70's an university engineer friend of mine proposed building a motion-enabled virtual model of the female torso as his PHD thesis; it was rejected by the professor on the basis that he would learn more by studying the subject in real life. Honestly!)

From: Isablan Neva So, question: how does this effect avatars wearing prim based bra type items? I expect badly... Which is going to really suck for the people making them. Any way for the avatar to turn it off for themselves? Prim attachments to the breasts do not move with the breasts -- a big bummer in my opinion cuz I like my prim nipples sometimes. Yes, we can turn it off or on with a simple checkbox on the Effects tab. .

From: Rhonda Huntress This is entirely client side. It is like me setting the lighting to mid-day. It only effects what I see. If I turn on boob wiggles you will notice nothing, nor would you be able to change my settings any more than you could change my windlight settings. Not totally true - If I turn on jiggly boobs, my friends does see my boobs jiggling -- granted he is running Emerald also, so that may play into it.

From: Scylla Rhiadra ETA: I'd be more interested in this if the avatar in question had actual control over the jiggling effect. I find the fact that others can, in essence, MAKE my boobs jiggle in their viewers without my even knowing it mildly creepy, actually. It's like equipping the male population of SL with X-Ray glasses. Which, I'm sure, will be the NEXT "Great Leap Forward." My understanding is that others cannot make my boobs jiggle for them. My settings affect my boobs, but others can see it and their settings affect their boobs. I may be totally wrong here -- goes to read more and experiment more. .

From: Dana Hickman The thing with this feature is, the settings you determine in your own viewer only apply to what YOU see. They're not controlling what others see like a shape setting would. You could have this feature turned off in your viewer, and at the same time someone else could be watching you flop like a crazy pornstar. One doesn't have to be using Emerald to have their bewbs jiggle for someone who is using it.. every woman jiggles (unless they're tiny up top) to someone viewing with Emerald. Many prim or sculpted outfits, like jackets with low cut prim collars or breast pockets, etc.. now look like crap because the boobs move through them. Damn, damn, damn -- totally backasswards of how I thought it worked. Crap.

Yep... the viewer determines what *you* see, not what others see. The problem is much older than jiggling boobs. I can spend all day making detailed, high-prim attachments that fit beautifully, but to the person not viewing with shiny and high prim detail, they'll be clunky, jaggy messes. If someone has a low bandwidth, my sculpted shoes will be stupid-looking grey blobs hovering round my ankles.

Yeah, as I stop and think about it, it makes perfect sense and something I should have realized right away. My friend will be happy to know this as he was a bit bummed out when I said I was going back to the previous version cuz the newer one seemed to be slower and seemed to crash more.

Yeh, I had what I thought was a nice looking magpie avatar that I didn't realize was "shiny" and looked, well, like a cheap plastic molding to people who had shiny. Alas, this was deliberate, and it was no-mod. Once I got a computer that could handle shiny... I turned it off, right away. This was back when shiny was relatively new, and people were massively overusing it. And I had to quit wearing my magpie. It was at least a year before I turned shiny on again, and thank god the novelty had worn off by then.

From: Abigail Merlin yep, emmerald indeed has bouncing boobies, haven't tried it out yet but it is one of the latest enhancements just like unlimited clothing layers, shadows and the abilety to turn off the avatar mesh Oh I have the latest version of Emerald, but didn't notice any of the features you mentioned. Can you tell me how they can be enabled?

From: Suki Hirano Oh I have the latest version of Emerald, but didn't notice any of the features you mentioned. Can you tell me how they can be enabled? From: Carbon Philter Preferences > Emerald > Page 2 > Effects Click the checkbox "Enable enhanced physics on avatar breasts" Set Breast mass: 100 Breast rebound: 1 Breast max vel: 100 Breast friction: 1 Breast z influence: 100 (why does it keep going back to 1?) Breast min velocity: 1 Then stand back. A person could lose an eye. BTW, I've seen some mention a need to log out and then back in. I don't know if it is necessary, but if you don't see anything that may be why. Also, different breasts react differently. Some breasts are based on the wireframe and will respond dramatically. Breasts that are painted into ones clothes are not as noticeable. I would be interested in hearing from women seeking a more moderate appearance what strategies might they employ to maintain a bust line without becoming a burlesque show.

Thanks for the information on the boob physics lol. But I was more focused on the ability to wear infinite layers at once (aside from attachment point I think the extremely limited clothing layers is the most major flaw in SL). And what does "disable avatar mesh" do? I can't find that one either.

The UI is there, but the feature isn't.

Ah I see. Oh and apparently the extra attachment points do not work either, probably still in beta testing. My friends are seeing my attachments floating in random spots when attached to a new attachment spot.

From: Alvaro Zapatero I would be interested in hearing from women seeking a more moderate appearance what strategies might they employ to maintain a bust line without becoming a burlesque show. The way Emerald has it setup now? There's isn't anything we can do to prevent it at this point.. other than reducing bewb size or wearing prim/sculpt clothes big enough to cover them when others bounce them at max settings. Personally, I don't really care that much about others seeing me flop.. well, not enough to consider changing my shape for it. If that means someone is getting a cheap jolly from that.. hey, hope it was good for ya. I DID put my "best viewed at.." settings in my profile, in case there's actually someone who would want to see me the way I'd have it set.. but I'm not holding my breath for that to happen. I'm still pissed that I have to log on an alt to see the effect on myself though. Planning a "max jiggle compliant" outfit is annoying enough without needing to see what I'm adjusting for through a different set of eyes. I can't be the only one who sees the effect on everyone else, but not on myself..

My friends are seeing my attachments floating in random spots when attached to a new attachment spot. I thought that the extra attachment points actually DO work correctly, but only when viewed through Emerald.. it's the other viewers that see them as floating in random spots.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but my observation is that the jiggle is based on changes in an avatars position. It appears that when standing still and running an animation (such as a dance) there is no jiggle.
