I had so much fun there last night the asylum was a blast. It seemed I was able to walk through the gates easy but they wouldn't let me out!

Does anyone have an idea where they plan on selling plots to residents in Bay City. I would love to go see the future lay of the land. Not that I have a chance in heck w/the auction.

I suspect it'll be on the auction site. Doesn't property lines on while in Bay City also show the various plots?

You can check the parcel names on the ground. They are already cut.
The Gov Linden / Bay City Municipal are labelled.
The plots that will be for sale are labelled like - Bay City parcel 1A , etc

There are maps on the WIKI, but they don;t seem to be the final maps. They are probably a good indicator

The light green and red areas in this map appear to coincide with the Linden builds and parklands

This map appears to be a very early one. It's missing the main highway. However, it could be mostly right on the parcel cutting.
Someone with time on their hands could work out the colour coding.

I went for a look too, loved it instantly. This is a place that has scope for big time roleplay. Loved the waterways and roads though there needs to be more rezzing places.
I waited for ages for a trolley nothing came :( I got on my Viper to follow the tracks around to see if I could see it and I did!!! It was off the road and on the green park area still humming lol what the heck?

I raced a guy in a formula one car and beat him !!! Yay!

Also had a good burn around the streets on my bike until a sim crossing force me off and into oblivion but pheeww wind swept like heck - really good place :)
Needs a few more bridges though lol :D

I think the Bay City vehicles still need a little work. Ran into Mr Salazar Jack there last night while riding the water trolley. We saw another trolley that was burried in the land then, a bit later, one with a bunch of people on it go by at about mach 3, screaming off into the sunset.

/me does indeed like them a lot and haven't personally had problems. I've seen others that weren't quite right yet, though.

I agree Sindy, indeed I saw that very same trolley when biking around - embedded in the parkland still trying to go someplace. It didn't dampen my fun much though - I love biking around too :)

Exploring there now. I had popped in for a few minutes a couple days ago but didn't get a chance to check out the whole thing. I saw the asylum, very cool. There was a lady there playing the part of a patient, so that was funny. It looks really neat so far.

Spent some time sightseeing in Bay City today. Lag was pretty bad in general, which doesn't bode well for what it will be like when it's populated by land owners. Even the sims that only had a few people in them seemed rather laggy, given how little was already built there.

Tried one flying vehicle that flies like a dream in Havok 4 sims, and it was completely unusable in Bay City. I attribute this mostly to the no-script limitations. I quickly gave up on any flying vehicles, and unassisted flight was terribly slow.

Scripts and Build were both off, so to ride a horse around the sims I had to go home and wear the horse before I teleported in...

The various "Civic buildings" like the power plant and the "kitty prims factory" were a cute way to use space with fairly few prims, so the land that is sold could be double-primmed. Between these features, the canals and the roads, the prim reserve land is almost unnoticeable.

The water trolley was cute, with its automated bridges. But being down in a canal, one couldn't see anything to speak of. I found one water trolley embedded in the land well to one side of the canal. I thought at first it was some sort of subterranean build, until another water trolley went by in the canal, and I realized the roof and smokestack were the same. I didn't see the land trolleys, though I did see the tracks for them.

It seems such a shame to have all those canals, and NO apparent water access for parcel owners! I didn't see ANY parcels that would allow a land owner to rez a boat in the water, or to pull up to their own dock. They all were on the other side of a road from any waterways.

The bowling alley and movie theatre looked rather nice, though there were several armed people hanging out in front of the theatre and dressed like thugs, so I moved on quickly from that area.

Looks like most of the parcels will be too small to be anything more than a low-prim suburban sprawl.

It will be interesting to see what gets built there, once they open land sales. I wonder how fast it will get trashed with ad signs and builds that have nothing to do with the intended themes.

Where is the Labyrinth?

From: Marianne McCann
I doubt I'm the first first, but I completed the labyrinth an got one of the weird necklace thingies.

Which of the Bay City sims is this labyrinth in please? I'd like to try that but thus far the lag makes me keep my draw distance way down so flying around to locate things is fairly tedious.

Thanks :)

It moved a lot better earlier in the weekend. I think the traffic and interest really bogged it down. I noticed a lot of ghosted avatars, including Torley Olmstead.

I did not see too many noscript areas -- mostly nobuild and nopush. Unless someoen turned off scripts.

The trolleys and the bridges did not hold up well to the stress of day to day hard use. This will be an issue down the line. A shame, as they're two of the nicer features!

There is a rezzing area to the east of the slip. I would have put it on the slip, myself. Definitely one you have to hunt for.

ad signs might be a lot less than most places, given the inability to join or divide parcels. as to theme... ya, that's going to be the biggie. The double prims will help on the builds, I think, though I'm picturing it ending up a bit more like Nova Albion than Shermerville.

you don't really need to join/divide parcels in most case, since you can still build across the adiacent parcels without join em (you can use the total amount of prims on boths.. if they are on the same simulator).

Yes, but I'm betting that dealing with media streams on a build that covers several parcels will be a pain. Imagine trying to watch a movie together, and people in one half og your house see a different movie than the people in the other half.

I did also notice several broken bridges, where the spans that move had apparently gone AWOL, much as many of the trolley parts had.

I was amazed at how much I crashed there. I can spend all day in NCI Kuula, Hanja, Waterhead.... You name it.... and have no problems with stability. I spend a few minutes in any Bay City sim and *POOF!* .... Crash Logger Attempt 1. (>_<;)

I would have soooo many more snapshots of the place if I could just STAY THERE! (>_<;)

What could be causing that? I mean... I've been in laggier and more abused sims all the time. I haven't had many crash problems since RC4.

And, really, I can relog 3 to 4 times in a Bay City sim only to crash a minute later, then TP to a place like NCI Kuula or Bare Rose and spend HOURS there doing just about everything the parcel allows. EVEN RUNNING MULTIPLE CLIENTS WITH MY ALT!!! (>_<;)

*pant* ... *pant* ... *pant* ... *pant* ... Pleeease, someone make Bay city more stable. (=_=)y

I went over there earlier and used it as a chance to try out my new Havok4 Huey, and new monitor. I flew around for awhile and except for one lunkhead who decided to fly in and sit next to me and not say anything, he was ejected of course, I had no troubles. I like what I saw, I wouldn't mind owning a parcel there.

I'm not sure that put the screen and the seats in the same parcel (there are parcels of 3k if im not wrong) would be the biggest issue here. IMHO.

Oh ya. I think it will discourage (but not limit) larger builds, but I think the inability to *divide* the parcels is the biggie. It means you won't have a block of 16m squares sitting behind the bowling alley. An ad farmer is going to have to buy a minimum 460m plot and will not be able to split it in any of the usual ways.

Ya. Some of the ones in Molesville were not working when I first got to the sim, back on Thursday evening. I did spy a mole in the vicinity last night, but he seemed to be more observing, not working.

I had a similar issue on Friday, in Molesville outside the bowling alley. Tried several times to get a photo, and crashed multiple times. I blamed kicking on a 512m draw distance, the person dancing with a 40m sphere attachment a block away, and some of the textures over on the west side of Nova Albion.

It is notable, though: you aren't the only one with some crash issues there. Others commented on slowness there. I noticed a LOT of ghosted avatars by Sunday night. Part of the bigger SL issues, or somethign specific to the Bay City regions?

Went there last night, didn't notice any atypical lag. It's really exciting to see the Lindens creating a new type of space -- since I've been in SL, this sort of activity on their part has been the subject of myth.

I'd love it if more of the industrial build around the Port Authority were interactive. It'd be great fun to be able to load up the tug with some boxes and go out to rescue a coast guard vessel or something! But then, I love industrial places in RL as well.

I saw some nonworking bridges and, tho I tried several times, was never able to actually sit in the Trolley (evidently no one else was able to either). Are the hot air ballons meant to be tours? We were able to sit in them, but nothing really happened once we were there. Maybe some of this stuff just isn't completed yet.

What sim is the Asylum in? Would like to check that out too ...

I'll be really intrigued to see what people build there!

Best tip on the trolley: sit at the station, particulatly the ones at the ends of the line. Also, make sure it's not already overstuffed. I think the balloon is a "tour," but non-interactive. It's not like the still-not-working Linden Village balloon.

The Channel Island Mental Hospital is in Channel Island, and sits between Bay City and Nova Albion

You can click anywhere on the trolley, ferry and hot air ballon, it will just sits you on the first availabe spot... so you don't need really to go near em, just be sure to be in the same simulator and rightclick>sit the object.
They wait for a certain amount of seconds at the stations (the ballon longer: 60 seconds) before a departure... have patience. :)
Some bridges are malfunctioning... i guess they will be adjusted soon. :)

I suggested in the Blog that they add poseballs to the trolley benches; they should be able to seat 3 or 4 avatars on each side. As it is, if one person is seated, others might get "No room is available to sit here" type messages. DUH LL.

Last night there were no avatars in any of the trolleys, and if you clicked to sit, standing next to one, you got "no place to sit" messages. *shrugs*

You could sit in the hot air ballons, though.
