Okay, this is pretty idiotic, and astonishingly ignorant but you might get a laugh out of it:

Not sure if that's the funniest thing I've ever read or the scariest. Probably both.

lol lol lol

Been looking around the rest of their website... there's a section on who God wants dead because they harm America (Aaron Rusee quote "God won he died of Cancer";). The whole site is one big sick joke... I hope.

The bit I like is further down same page:

****************************************************
Wrong Choices
God’s lifestyle choices hitlist : God hates people that belong to one of the groups below because they harm America!

* Gays
* Liberals
* Abortionists
* Animal Rights People
* Environmentalists
* Muzlims
* Vegetarians/Vegans
* Pedophiles
* Linux users
* “Purpose Driven” churches
* Mormons
* Germans
* Government school teachers
* The anti-smoking lobby
* College Professors
* Poets
* Hybrid Cars
*********************************************

Lol.. God hates Linux users! ROFL

Sadly I've heard people talk this way and mean it but I knew this had to be a satire. Apparently I was correct. I did a lot of Googling and found many sites stating so. Apparently it use to be right on this sight but was removed. Anyway, here's the best info I found on it:

http://friendlyatheist.com/2006/12/01/shelley-the-republican-debunked/

Much more subtle and not as funny IMO as the Landover Baptist site that you'll find here:

Find the section on Great Britain. That gave it away to me that it was a joke, although the description of a typical night out in Glasgow was bit too close to the truth of most of our towns in the evening.

SecondLife is a sequel to HalfLife? That's hysterical!

Now... where can I find one o' dem unicorns? I want me a unicorn prim baby!

Yes, this site was a spoof. And I will remind the OP that modern day American liberals are just as if not more totalitarian as modern American conservatives.

There really is very little difference between them nowadays. Both parties are interested in little more than maintaining their power base and furthering their agendas. I find them both equally contemptable.

If you think conservatives are totalitarian, you totally misundertstand the conservative philosophy. It's the liberals who want to control what you say, eat, earn, do, and think.

Remember, though: "Conservative" does not necessarily equal "Republican". I'm a conservative, and I usually vote Republican...but I am completely aghast at the the way the GOP mishandled the government when they had the majority.

I agree with Brenda that the two parties are more about getting and staying in power than in implementing the philosophies they espouse.

Anyone who's blog includes a page called God's Hitlist, is obviously a twisted misguided individual.

My advice to the author "seek help".

I didn't start laughing until I read that Gordon Sumner (which is the name of Sting, the music guy who used to be in The Police) was the main character in Half Life, instead of Gordon Freeman.

I'd think that someone who has a section called 'God's hitlist' has a fine satirical sense of humour. Then of course, I haven't had my sense of humour (and not just the 'u') surgically removed.

And, hey, I'm a Brit, so a bloody foreigner, and even I don't associate all American liberals with the Democratic party.

Good point Chas. I'd like to think that I haven't lost my sense of humor or humour. Also being a bit of a "smart arse" myself, I can appreciate satire. I think the scary and unfortunate point of this is the fact that there are far too many people in the world (especially in the US) that would read this, think it was serious, and also agree with it.

At first reading I thought it was serious! There is so much ill-informed nonsense out there the factual errors didn't make me see through it, and the views expressed are no more lunatic than the blatherings of many right-wing bloggers. Once I looked more closely, some of the other entries were clearly satirical, but that one I found quite credible as what passes for rational comment in some circles.

This article/blog has so much wrong with it, I wouldn't know where to begin. I can and will only accept this as a very cleverly written spoof. It's really quite funny you know.

But surely that is the point of satire. Jonathan Swift once wrote a piece advising the Irish to eat their babies because there was famine. Some took it very seriously.

Satire has to be close to what some people believe to be satire.

And I agree, this is pretty close to what far too many people might very well argue. But pretty good, too.

I emailed the author of the piece about it's satire and got a totally deadpan response pointing me in the direction of:

http://www.shelleytherepublican.com/2006/07/17/the-liberal-obsession-with-satire.aspx

I suspect it may have been an autoresponse, with a search for keywords....
