Got Robbed of 2500L$ by M*** J*****

Thought I ought to put this up. I was offering service to someone when I realized I couldn't go through with it.

I offered to return the money paid to this person which was 400L$.

I was upset at the time and did a typo and before I realized had typed in the wrong amount and pressed return to an amount totaling 2900L$. When I realized my mistake I immediately asked for the 2500L$ back, he refused and tp'd away. Despite my asking and pleading he refused and taunted me to complete the deal etc etc.
He has since refused to respond to any Im's

Anyway his name is **** ****** and he deserves something done for this, but I don't know if there is any thing I can do.

Anyone have any idea??

naming names is a serious ToS violation.
i suggest removing the name. you can name names on secondcitizen and slex and whatnot, but not here. they will come down hard on you mate.

Naming names on the forums is against the guidelines - so you might wish to go back an edit your post to not include his name.

Additionally the Lindens will not get involved in disputes involving money between players. So I am unsure what you can do besides asking the person for your money back.

Sadly it sounds like a pretty expensive lesson to learn .

Bad idea posting that here. Names are a big no no, and people in the forums have no compassion for this kind of thing. Look at all the people who who had land stolen by landbots and the lovely response they got from fellow residents. Since the sl population has grown, the people in SL in general have become colder and just don't care about the problems of fellow residents. They feel better belittling others in the forums. I'm sorry to hear about your situation, but sadly LL will not do a thing about it because technically it was your error.

2. I don't think you can say he 'robbed' you though, as you did make a mistake. all you have left to you is the moral high ground, sadly its a place that creeps and slimeballs never visit.

These types of threads are generally not very useful here in the forums, primarily because 99% of the time, they only tell one, usually very biased, side of the story.

By the way, you should edit your post again to completely remove the initials of this person. Your PissedOffedness is perfectly understandable, but this isn't the place to vent when it comes to other Second Life residents.

I imagine the OP was distracted when typing the ammount - due to whatever reason she coudlnt provide said service.

Of course evidently the guy who took the money wasnt very trustworthy. Depending on what services someone provides in Second Life - many of the customers wont be. Or they will lack respect for their service provider.

Maybe wait till he gets a SL partner and have a candid conversation with her about the whole deal .

Like I tell everyone else.... when it comes to money, SLOW DOWN and verify everything before sending the transaction through. Those few extra seconds will prevent you from losing money. You wouldn't sign a contract without reading it would you? Same thing everywhere. type in the number, verify that everything is correct, then send.

Seriously, sorry for the loss. I know you're upset about it, but int he grand scheme of things, its a little less than $10.00 US. I know there's a principal there, but it will be better for you in the long run to take a deep breath, walk off the tilt and just let it go. Bad beats happen in life and if you let them eat at you, you become bitter and angry.

I also consider this theft....

There has got to be some collection agency who, for a percentage fee, could make someone's life miserable until they pay the money back...

Yeah, I've made mistakes where I had more than one instance of Calc.exe open and I typed in the number from the wrong one. It happens. No excuse for the guy to run off with the extra money though.
