From: Cheree Bury Maar made the poseballs on her inexpensive sets not modifiable so you could not get the animations out of them. That is a requirement for the Intan Dance Ball. The ones where you can get the animations out are priced at 700 per set.
Although the last time I checked her store, the less expensive sets were no longer available.
I personally liked that pricing structure. It made the dances available to the mass public at a reasonable cost and allowed the club owners to place them into their dance balls (at a slightly higher cost.) After all, the Intan allows multiple couples to dance on one set of animations at the same time. This is not quite accurate. Anims don't need mod perms to be taken out of another object. The object needs mod permissions to remove any contents that is no-copy, IIRC. I have taken no-mod animations from one product and put them in my own object (for my personal use only, of course). |

The only thing mod permissions on an animation gives you is the ability to change its name. This is useful in danceballs where the animation name is too long or unhelpful for some reason, or if you want to number them to order the menu or somthing like that. Another reason to want modifiable animations is that with systems like MLP and MLP2, the shorter the animation name, the more poses you can store. I doubt this is what Nika was referring to above -- presumably she meant poseball permissions rather than animation permissions. |

One cannot edit the poseball, therefore cannot extract the anims. I was last at one of Maar's outlets about 3 weeks ago, and the two-tier price scheme was still in effect then. . |

Ummm. Well, try it. I've never encountered a no-mod poseball from which I couldn't extract the anims. Of course, you can't get them back *in*, but who'd want to, anyway? I don't think I own an intact animator-supplied poseball anywhere.
(And before somebody bemoans the fate of the poor animators whose creations might get used more than once for the same instance simultaneously: keep in mind that animations are already the beneficiary of some Extra Ultra Special treatment, such that scripts can't do diddly with their UUIDs.)

Zaius Creations have been around but is worth mentioning...stands, sits, dances, gorean positions, and well made animated furniture. Their bar stools are the best.

I don't know Maar, but I'm surprised there would be a tier for mod and no-mod poseballs (at least, for couples & more sets). I'd expect a tier for copy/xfer for builders' use, as B&B has. |
