Does not mean that to me. Anyone can make any group and have it display anything over their head. You have to check their group tags to see what groups they are really in.
I am often asked to make scripted objects that will only give items or only open doors or whatever if the avatar trying to use them has activated the appropriate group.

It is my custom to have the object IM an av who is unsuccessful saying something like, "I'm sorry, but you wearing a Such-And-Such group tag to use this" so people realize why they can't open the door or get a present rather than conclude it's broken. Would you find this confusing, and say to yourself "But it clearly states in my profile that I'm a member of the group. Why won't the damn thing open"?

If this is the case, what phrase do you suggest would be less open to misinterpretation than apparently is, "wearing the right group tag"?

I was not confused until everyone pointed out to me that I was confused.

A group tag is not a group title - that's my logic around it.

But I'm confused.

Group tag is a synonym for group title, not for group name.

That's exactly where you are confused, Group Tag = Group Title.
Group Name is what you see in the profile, not Group Tag.
Group Tag is what appears over someones head, also know as Group Title.

Does that explain it?

...LL will punish them and...

No they won't. Because unlike you, LL uses common sense to realize that a group as a whole is not responsible for the actions of some of it's members.

Can't we all just make up our own words and definitions since these are just 3D net new phrases with no real definition yet?

The word 'rez' (from my quick research) only appears in the Second Life wiki. The word was developed in the 80's from the movie Tron.

LL did punish the group in 2007 by deleting their island. And another griefer group was deleted when they hacked in and got the credit card info.

But I love that you say LL uses common sense. That is amusing.

The problem with that is that these made up words do have set meanings within Second Life.

If you try to redefine them, all you will find is that you are unable to communicate with other users.

Likewise, if you develop products you sell, and include your "redefined" words, you will only generate unhappy customers.

To put it simply, these words are already defined within the scope of SL, lets try to keep some consistency here.

They did not delete it due to actions of the group.

In fact a group can not own an island, one individual pays for it, and one individual is on record as owning it. What groups the parcels on the island is set to is irrelevant.

LL states that your account must remain in good standing and have a relatively clean record to continue to own an island.

The person who pays LL directly for the island did something wrong, and that is why it was taken down.

The same for the hacking group. LL did not delete the group, it was removed automaticaly, becuase no members remained in it due to them being banned, individually.

I don't mean to be unkind, but that made me LOL a little too ;)

In the words of Inigo Montoya, "You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means."

Also, you killed my father.

They did not delete it due to actions of the group. They deleted it do to the actions of a single person.

From: LL
Many members of the Woodbury University group (which controls the region) have been detected before and after that date causing severe problems in Second Life, in violation of the terms of service. These problems include incidents of grid attacks, racism and intolerance, persistent harassment of other residents, and crashing the Woodbury University region itself while testing their abusive scripts. Due to the ongoing problems, Linden Lab has no option but to immediately close the Woodbury University region.
LL said it was because of the MANY in the group. Not one person.

Your trying to tell me that LL went into the group and banned each name in that group one at a time? That goes completely against your "LL does not ban innocent group members" assertion.

You are misinterpreting what I said, therefore your entire statement is invalid.

Feel free to try again.

(I'm going to sleep. If there's a response to me I will not see it.)

That's glory for you.

My group flooble is your group birflesnatch. But unless other people use the same words for the same thing, you might as well talk about refribbing your wungleforp.
