well not to be an echo, if the blogger you speak of is the one im thinking of, consider the source, and do the one thing that will drive them insane: pay no attention to it.

There are only 3 people/groups who's opinion should matter to you 1)your children (if any) 2) Your friends (and if they are friends they will know the truth about you) and most importantly 3) That man/woman who looks you in the eyes each morning when you look in the mirror.

Be true to yourself.

You don't need my advice on what to do, so I'll ignore that part and just mention something that took me up short.

I don't believe "willing" is correct. The high degree of cruel and intrusive harrassment seems to be a sport among those who are so unevolved they feel they have a license to grief if the griefee is unpopular and/or verbally abusive. For anyone who aspires to be a decent person, the idea of doing to others as you would have done to you holds true whether or not the others respect back. In this case if people don't enjoy reading the blog in question they should not read it. It's obvious some read it in order to get all fired up and others read it because they want a target for their bad behaviour.

Bloggers speak their minds, and few agree with this one, but judging by what I read across the internent people read this blog and then talk, talk, talk about how they disagree. People do love to have things to push against, I suppose, however that's something I thought one grew out of at about ten. If holding controversial opinions is enough to get someone griefed we are in a lot of trouble.

Note to SL residents: Grow up, please.

Whilst I would not ban you personally, of course, having seen your posts here - if you were not known to me, and I saw you were associated with Woodbury University, and you did anything remotely dubious in an area that I controlled or was supposed to protect, I would ban you immediately.

I don't really care what you are supposed to have done, Immy, or what you actually have done. What you should do is whatever you want to do. That's the whole point of SL. You can't stop other people doing what they want to do - only the Lindens can do that, and the Lindens' application of authority, while seemingly randomly (and infrequently) asserted, is unlikely to impact upon you in this situation - or pretty much any situation.

I keep unpacking this in search of the biting sarcasm . . .

It's a bit like not finding the prize in your box of breakfast cereal.

I am familiar with this person's writings, having followed them sporadically over the years.

Quite frankly, I think you're just this person's "flavour of the week". Someone or something else will become the target of the next diatribe in pretty short order.

Furthermore, it is my opinion that this person has a very great tendency to take a contrary position regardless of whether the position makes any sense or not. This person appears to me to have a very high opinion of his/her own intelligence, to the point that only people that agree with him/her are considered to have any intelligence at all.

Also, given statements by people that have attempted to respond in this person's blog it appears to me that this person is practicing censorship. This shows me a very weak position, if his/her opinion cannot tolerate being challenged in any way.

I don't mean to make light of anything. I understand that you feel this is a serious matter, and indeed it is. But not, I think, for the reasons that you think it is. You just do what you want to do, be who you want to be. I've known you for a while and have never had any reason to believe that you are anyone who fails to exemplify the best of what NCI is all about. Whoever you choose to associate with is your own choice. No one.. NO ONE has the right to judge you based on what groups you do or do not belong to.

You know your a greifer when...................

Linden Lab deletes your island because of grid attacks, racism and intolerance.

The Woodbury University Group is a greifer group (see above). These people showed up to that same parcel three times and greifed the parcel. The OP is a card-carrying member of WU and arrived at the parcel with them when they started greifing.

But I know this is more about personality than facts. So it is nice Immy's friends came out and said nice things about her. But Immy is still a greifer - harassing a woman having a meeting on her own mainland parcel.

And for NCI to claim it is none of their business if their teachers are in greifer groups is irresponsible. It allows her to make that original post here where she hides behind her NCI affiliation to legitimize herself while she carries on with her 'other' nefarious activities.

Immy, if you have learned anything here today, let it be to do your griefing in voice chat so that there is no record. It also helps to declare yourself a victim over and over again while you do said griefing.

The quality of any particular blogger's output has absolutely no bearing upon whether or not any particular SL group is a griefer group.

Which WU is.

It may confuse people who naively think all things are black and white because in this case we have a griefer group and a verbally-abusive blogger. Liberate your minds and get beyond popularity contests.

If someone is verbally abusive you mute them and go away.
If a group engages with you over and over again on your own turf it is very difficult to stop them from doing damage.

Plus the time lost and financial implications for said blogger. If Immy is still engaged with the griefing on said blogger then Immy is putting herself in a sticky situation. I'm hoping she's moved on from that.

3 times she is greifed. All 3 times you are there as a member of the group of the people that is greifing her. She made a logical conclusion that you were there and condoning their actions.

Not once in all that you have written on this subject have you apologized for what your friends did to her parcel right in front of you. Not once have you claimed that you did not know that this group was racists and intolerable of people. I really have no idea why you posted this thread.

But what about your WU Friend's greifing her and them being racists and intolerable? Have a stance on that?

Maybe I missed this, but is there a reason aside from the rambling blogger that is forcing the issue for you? If it is just that blogger and you feel comfortable with your own actions, I would ignore it. But if someone in NCI has made this an issue or if you feel you are damaging NCI's reputation by staying with WU, you might want to decide which action you are most comfortable with: Staying with WU or staying with NCI.

You simply limited your reading to the parts that supported your agenda. Completely ignoring that each time I was banned, I was not only on my own but also actually being quite productive and helpful.

As for WU: The group is diverse and random. For every good person, there is a bad person. The same could be said for the whole of SL. It ~is~ the internet's cartoon porntopia, after all. (=_=)

Correct. And, I'm still in the process of weighing the pros and cons of each possible decision. (>_<
