I own one of those tennis racket shaped bug zappers and I kill at least 50 mosquitoes a day. You can literally walk out my front door in the evenings this time of year and sweep the thing through clouds of mosquitoes, killing hundreds within a few minutes. One measly fly? Ha!

Obama had the sense to use a tissue when he picked that "fly" off the carpet so that any fingerprint evidence would not be destroyed.

I went to the site you quoted and I find a lot of claims that aren't supported....in once case they say 'want proof? Look here!' and link to a PDF file that can't be opened (says its damaged).

I am not a PETA supporter. I am not defending PETA. But I want you to show me evidence that PETA runs any animal shelters. To the best of my knowledge, they don't. Now let's look at the statement you quoted...



Since they don't have shelters, how many animals did they take in? The article you cite shows the purchase of a $10,000 walk in freezer (to be used for carcass storage). That's ONE freezer, and not a huge one either. You might be interested in knowing that the animal shelter in just the small city where I live could have kept that freezer full. And they aren't 'kill-happy' either.

There are basically 3 types of 'animal activist' groups. Animal welfare/protection (humane societies, animal protection organizations like ASPCA), animal rights (PETA) and animal liberation (I don't know of any animal liberation groups off the top of my head to cite as an example).

It is the animal welfare/protection groups that run shelters for the most part. And shelters are where the greatest amount of euthanasia occurs. And those shelters are for the most part left with no options. They take in animals that might otherwise be left to suffer and starve and give them a chance to be adopted. Do they all get adopted? OH HELL NO. I am willing to bet that any shelter that does not make the claim to be a 'no-kill' shelter (meaning that they take in animals only as they have openings available and therefore have no population issues) probably euthanizes 50% of the animals that walk through their doors.

I have a good deal of experience in the animal welfare field. While I believe PETA to be an extremist group with convoluted ideas, and I would never give them $$, I know that they are not the group that have to euthanize thousands of animals every year. That is left to the humane associations and animal welfare groups. And guess what? Those groups DO get my money...money to help pay for education, because the only way to stop the huge pet population problem is to EDUCATE all those people who think it would be ok for Fluffy to have just 'one' litter.

This must have been the "other" PETA.

They are active here in New Jersey, where just about every pharmaceutical company has facilities. They are on the extreme end, are known to stalk and harass employees and their families away from company locations, including showing up at schools.

They killed a litter of kittens one day after adopting them because they were 'not adoptable.' PETA executes animals even quicker than most shelters.

i am against cruelty to animals myself..and i am sure Peta does some good..
but it should not be ran by politically motivated tax free corporations where more money ends up going into the corporation than it does the cause because they have gotten so big..
they should down size and do what good they can do responsible..

when things get tight here on the farm and we had to make a choice on keeping someone on staff or feeding the cattle..someone will be looking for a job..
we don't shoot a few cows to cover payroll..

but we do when it's time to fill the freezer..
