And, oh, if you ever think about coming up to me and giving me free advice on how I 'should' look - just turn your perfect self around and 'sexy' walk away. Take your 'clickity-click' shoes with you.

Beautiful.

Dunno, I'd take the newbie skins over the perma-greased-up skins that are so popular any day.

I hate the ones that are made to look 'greased' and sexy or w/e.. I have a nice, natural skin, that looks like a person, and it doesn't look like I just stepped out of the shower, or out of a tub of lard...

Besides, I think the newbie skins have a kinda charm lol

So, since you were able to spend many 1000L on your look, other people should be at least concerned with THEIR look? (Actually, I did, too. I have 5 RaC skin packs (think I'm addicted to them) and each pack with 6 makeups cost me $L4000. I, however, don't expect a single other resident of SL to go out and do the same thing I did). I like demo'ing and trying new skins, still do it constantly, and will sometime in the next month get another RaC skin that I've been eyeing...it's a nice tan one I plan to use more for summer, I tend to use my paler skins now that it's winter, but that's ME.
However, my comment is what it was to the OP basically....why do you care? And the OP who is so concerned with other people's appearance, can't even take the time to use proper punctuation and capitilization. In any kind of virtual environment, especially based mainly in text, that should be more important that what their avie looks like. To me, the way one presents their thoughts and ideas is a bit more important than how they look. If people want someone to invest time and money into their "look" perhaps they should first invest time into their own writing skills.
I know that sounds snarky, and it kind of is. I'm not normally a snarky person, but this kind of thinking just really galls me for some reason. Maybe it's just because it's "hump" day and I'm wishing it was Friday. So sorry if I offended anyone, I really am. However, I stand by my point since, to me anyway, it was valid.
Happy Freakin' Wednesday, everyone!

This goes on to another topic that bugs me.

Why the heck do men hang around women's stores / women's sections in stores / and hit on us?

I want to thank whatever skanks habitually let themselves get picked up in SL stores for encouraging those clods, and hampering my SL shopping experience.

IRL if men were hovering around in the lingerie section of Kohl's staring at you, you would give them a wide berth for being totally creepy.

Men in RL do this too, just not as obviously.. ever seen a guy 'waiting for his girlfriend' or 'sister' at the dressing rooms, or maybe just even looking at clothes, but right on the edge, and not really paying attention? Tada =P

QFT! When I shop, I'm completely in "shop & buy" mode. I even get slightly irritated when my hubby drops in on me in a shop. I'm a woman, for goodness' sakes, and I take my shopping very seriously! Please don't hit on me when I'm opening the pocketbook for some new things......even if I were single, you wouldn't get a nice response if you interrupted my shopping experience. In a club or social gathering, it would be more acceptable. But not at Simone!, RaC, Awesome Designs or _________ (insert store of choice), FFS!
Thanks for pointing that out, Colette! ;)

Yeah those would be the creeps I mentioned.

In Second Life though they will do stuff like she suggested with the heels, blatantly start asking you out, or even try an pull the BDSM "KNEEL! NOW" nonsense.

Why is it you see people in these noob skins ( im talking about the yellow ones the default ones you start with) and they think they look good, those skins look awful to me I dont see how anyone could be attracted to them. I really hope im not the only one who feels that way but if your going to play in sl at least try to make an effort, its not a money issue becuase you can get half decent skins as freebies, so why the noob look.
Just for curiosity sakes so no one bite my head off ok? be nice
Well let me confide in you an incident that was a big eye opener to my shallow ways.
I met this young lady a while back (after I bought my expensive skin, and I thought I was 'all that') This young lady had JUST signed up in SL and was still wearing her default skin, well we chatted a while and hit it off very well...we eventually got romantic, one thing led to another... and I will not bore you with those details. To make a long story short, one day I offered her a free skin I had in my inventory...BIG MISTAKE!!! She was highly offended, returned it, and muted me. My intentions were purely selfish, I wanted the visuals during intimacy, and she wanted the intimate dialogue. Come to find out, I was a 'Shallow Hal' like you. I guess the more we learn about ourselves, the better we learn how to treat others with the respect they deserve, and begin to fit into society as we aught to.

I've had people, sometimes complete strangers, tell me (my AV) that I am "too pale" or "you need a tan!" *Shakes head* I don't walk up to them and say "You look like you spent WAY too much time in a tanning bed."

A guy once told me that I should be a "regular" color, instead of blue, because it would be "more appealing." I answered, "more appealing to whom?" It turns out he's a smart guy and a nice guy, and he seemed to have taken the point. I do get more compliments on my skin than otherwise, though.

Nooo...that is a HUGE pet peeve of mine. Again, this is just me, but I am MUCH, MUCH more attracted to someone as they present themselves to me intellectually and emotionally. As it would seem others are as well from the incident that Graph shared.

There is that.

Also never tell a woman in SL directly that she has an ugly skin or shape.

OP, you have really exposed yourself as someone I would never hang out with in SL.

I still wear the newbie skin. I've used the sliders to adjust my shape the way I want it.That was good enough for me. Even if I had a L$2000 shape, why should it make any difference to you?

If I am unacceptable to you because I don't look like YOU think I should look, then you are unacceptable to me as a decent person.

Caring more about how someone looks than how they act is the ultimate in snobbery to me.

So you were giving her what she wanted and when you asked for what you wanted she got offended and muted you? I don't know. Men tend to be more visually stimulated than women, and that doesn't make us shallow, it just makes us men. If that's what you wanted, I don't see why that makes you shallow. If that's ALL you wanted, then maybe. It seems to me that part of a relationship is being able to deal with the other person offending you. You can't go through any sort of relationship for any length of time without doing something stupid, overstepping a boundary or otherwise messing up and it isn't reasonable to expect perfection in a partner. It's also about giving the other person what they want sometimes, especially if they are accomodating your needs.

Maybe your approach was bad, but flipping out and muting you was out of line.

BTW - blue, silver, green, red, etc - all can be very sexy. I agree with Okiphia and Madhu.

My personal favorite for 'sexy unnatural' is this girl I met who seemed to have a clouded skin.. like.. black sky with white clouds almost.. wow.. it was one of the sexiest things I've seen in SL, hands down lol.... maybe I'm just weird
