Well they didn't shut down everything: They managed quite well to write off 1250 linden for my classified. Not that anyone can see it when Search is down...

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things. Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut. |

and again, kiss your business g`bye... "Stability measures" in effect: no search, no map, no transactions, no profiles, no nothing so much for new clothing shopping ![]() Gotta love it...another freaking Friday filled with crap. Give Us Stability!™ is my trademarked slogan, but how does removing all of these necessary items give us stability? Start deleting accounts that haven't been touched in two years! That ought to clear up some of the asset server problems! _____________________

Why must they do it at the most important times. Surely doing it about 5AM GMT would mean that less people would be affected...

The stupid b.......s are killing sl. I can't tell if this the normal reduce stress on servers or an extra fault. I thought this was supoposed to be fixed when they added more asset servers? Or haven't they fitted them yet? I'm now totally confused!

The problem with the bots, is that you may pick up some real people in that sweep. If an account hasn't been touched in two years, it's pretty damned safe to assume they aren't coming back.
*sigh* I'm a huge SL™ cheerleader, but this is really trying my patience. _____________________

I'm a huge SL™ cheerleader, but this is really trying my patience. Agreed. They could have prioritised premium accounts or even concierge. However, the preference seems to go towards the "always on" bots. It's actions like these which make even staunch SL fans rethink where to allocate their free time. |

Agreed. They could have prioritised premium accounts or even concierge. However, the preference seems to go towards the "always on" bots. It's actions like these which make even staunch SL fans rethink where to allocate their free time. you would think the bots would be easiest to pick up since they stay online the longest contiguous times. Just log everyone off who has been online for over 12 hours straight. If you snag some actual humans they probably could use the sleep .. |

"In order to increase overall stability of the grid today during peak usage hours, our operations team has disabled a set of in world functions to reduce overall database load and create a more reliable experience for everyone. As a side effect of these temporary changes, some group and avatar profile services will not be available.
Specifically:" "some group and avatar profile services will not be available" = none of it will work. What gets me is that this bit of dishonest muppet-speak has become boilerplate text. The are copy-pasting previous blog postings. We'll be able to recite it from memory after having seen it so often. "temporary".."group and avatar profile services will not be available" is the new "Thanks for your patience" When asked via a blog comment: "Whatever happened to : http://blog.secondlife.com/2007/02/16/contingency-measures-to-ensure-service-as-second-life-grows/ ?" The response comment on the blog was that limiting logins would be "worse" than limiting services. Call me a conspiracy theorist, but when I went to look for the actual blog posting in which the question was responded to, there appeared to be a temporary/permanent absence of that string of comments. Even Google wasn't my friend. I did notice that history had been rewritten, in that we now have 0-comment blog postings flagged as "Merged". It's as clear as day. LL are determined to plough ahead with these "temporary" suspension of group and friend facilities for as long as it takes to beef of the infrastructure. They don't really have any firm idea of how long that will take. It's absolutely clear that the system is in crisis. In the meantime, LL have decided that it is better that an unlimited number of people will have a "reliably" broken experience than it is that a more limited number of people will have an unbroken experience. _____________________

I just hope all the traffic cheaters are enjoying their bots sitting above their high ranked empty stores as real spending residents can't login
![]() They could just record anyone logged in over 48hours continuously and kick them for say a 1 hour window, not sure though if the bots autorelogging hammering the login server for an hour is possibly worse than leaving them in. _____________________

I don't think the word "The" is trademarkable. evidently they filed a Trademark request on the word "Second" so maybe its not unusual. |
