From: Pie Psaltery Any alt account 'born' before 6/6/06 still receives a $50L a week stipend for every week that alt logs onto the platform.
I have 3 of them myself, their profile are all fairly sparse and they look for the most part like newbie freebie dumpster divers (which, in a way they are).
An extra $150L a week for logging them all in at one time once every monday morning while Im in the shower... not a bad proposition. Ha ha nice work!

From: LittleMe Jewell hmm - another Cartel outing? Would it be a catch and release type thing, or would we actually be responsible for their care and feeding afterward?

From: Ann Launay Would it be a catch and release type thing, or would we actually be responsible for their care and feeding afterward? As I said the other day, I caught one- since i was an alt myself at the time I dont generally do "alty" things- but keep making them when a cool name catches my eye- I did take pity on the poor thing and thru the graces of OnRez freebies he now has killer skin hair and clothes- didnt cost me a dime and he doesnt look fresh off the island. the sad thing is to hear the plaintive cries of "hey where are you?" cause it was a fluke and i may not return as my alt for months even. So be careful of adopting newbies - u may have to walk them at times

You could use a batch file to log them all in with one mouseclick. You could use a scheduling program to run the batch file and have them log in while you're in the shower. If you could find a proper bot program, I suppose they could log in automatically and transfer their funds automatically to your main account. I can't remember to log my alts in to get the 50 lindens, but then, I can't remember to turn in mail in rebates to get 50 REAL dollars.

From: Bella Posaner I tried finding newbies myself a while ago. I have a ton of stuff in my inventory I no longer use, manly clothing and I wanted to help someone out and shoosh them up a bit. I found it hard to find them, I went to a few meeting places for newbies and just clicked on profiles and looked at the rez dates. But like someone said, it's not always a good indication of whether or not the user is a newbee. It would be fun if there was a place you could go just off the Newbie appearance area (or whatever passes for OI these days) to dump your old unwanted inventory in a box and each noob could take lucky dip and take one. Of course it wouldn't work, because nasty people would put nasty scripted objects in the box and non PG things and so on, but I can just imagine the Noob's horrified, confused and amazed face when he opened the sort of box I would be dumping there... the unused items from my inventory are weird, diverse, mostly useless and mainly called 'object'. imogen

From: Imogen Saltair Methinks this is a topic relevant to the discussion on SL relationships.
"How to tell if your partner/friend/SO has created an alt"
imogen I can't find "SL relationships," did a search. Can't find "How to tell..etc" either.

Spider, sadly, this is something time and experience will teach you- and what it will teach you is to let it go.
Other than clues in 'speech-patterns" i.e., frequently misspelled words in common with your partner, certain usage mannerisms- there is nothing. You can drive yourself mad thinking u are sure you know someone is someone's alt- or that your love suddenly doesn't have as much time cause he/she now has an alt. What it comes down to- is in the end, it is all for naught.
Once you realize at the end of the day- only thing you can bank on is you- you will be much happier. As long as you can look in the mirror- you are doing just fine. Meanwhile love the people you meet and enjoy them- everyone adds a piece to the puzzle that is you. Smile, chill and ohmmmm.

*Someone with today's date (or within the last few days) but is dressed to the 9's with the latest prim hair, fashion, AO's, and in either a LOT of groups or some fairly obscure ones that a newbie likely wouldn't have heard of yet I generally figure to be an alt.
... or, as in my case, someone who left SL for a while and came back and knows from prior experience where to buy the good clothes, hair and AOs, etc. They could also be a brand new AV who has had help getting started from a friend.

From: Alodie Magic ... They could also be a brand new AV who has had help getting started from a friend. Yep. I've taken several first-day newbie friends and briefed them on how things work, taken them on shopping expiditions, and helped them to custom-fit their prim skirts and other stuff. Even loaned them L$ do get their first avatars, or made a gift of their purchases. By the end of the day, they looked like they had been here for years. Though they still bumped into walls and had trouble with other basic operations!

From: Amaranthim Talon You can drive yourself mad thinking u are sure you know someone is someone's alt- or that your love suddenly doesn't have as much time cause he/she now has an alt. Every time the "How can I tell if my partner has an alt" question comes up, my response is the same: ask. If, for whatever reason, you don't trust them enough to believe the answer, you might want to reconsider whether you should be together.

There's no specific forum for that, there have just been numerous discussions in RA. And she was saying that there is no concrete way to tell if someone is an alt, although their word usage and spelling tendencies may give you a hint.

Wtf are you on about? I just want to find that forum. I will ignore the unnecessary WTF expletive. The threads that reference relationships usually end up discussing how one determines the person is an alt- has an alt etc - since the thread here had started by discussing determining between true newbies and alts I made an intuitive leap that apparently did not apply- Here are a couple of threads involving SL Romantic Relationships- if you meant say Business Relationships or others- you are on on your own on search - after the excel debacle I have a one help limit established for my own peace of mind. /327/e7/272800/1.html/327/0d/271630/1.html/327/97/163605/1.htmlI wish you well.

As I look at that person's first response to my query about a link, it appears that s/he has me mixed up with another participant in this thread, or some other thread or whatever. I for the life of me cannot find any other explanation for her or his little analysis posted to me in answer to my request for a link.

I think Amaranthim probably assumed you were interested in how to tell if someone was an alt because of this: From: Imogen Saltair "How to tell if your partner/friend/SO has created an alt"
From: Spider Hellershanks Can't find "How to tell..etc" either.
Based on that assumption, what she told you was true...you'd likely never know if your SO was using an alt unless they told you, and there's not much point in making yourself crazy about it.

Spider, there was mention in an earlier thread this week about a discussion on SL relationships. While we were speculating on why you would want to know the date of creation of an alt, I made my comment that it might be something to do with you wanting to know if your partner had made an alt. It really wasn't anything more complicated than that. I am sorry i didn't spell it out in words of one bit imogen Amaranthim... that bit of advice is very very good...

Of course, as with many things..."only the Phantom knows."

I always enjoy how these threads travel along. In case anyone was wondering, the reason I wanted to know is, so my own alts would remain undiscovered. no other agenda. I have reasons, as many do, for wanting them 'incognito', I just wanted to know if privacy was fleeting or obtainable.
