Is there a way to search on the 'born' date for avatars? Also, is there anyway to detect if someone has an alt and who it is?

Many, many thanks!

You can find out the former via scripting or by looking at the avs profile. The later is not possible as Sindy said.

Do you mean by typing the date into search and bringing up a list of avs? If that is what you mean then nope. You can see the av's born date on their profile though.

Actually, an avatar's rez date is displayed in their profile. However, there's no way to tell if whether or not a given avatar is an alt, or someones first, second, or tenth av.

the name gives a pretty good indication of relative newness

Although not as much as it used to.

As for alts?

Nope.

Although if they look like a freebie shop landed on them, theres a good chance they are a first account.

Nah, what I was looking for was a way to find avs/alts born on a certain date, or after a certain date. I don't have an avie name...now, that would be too easy!!

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

Methinks this is a topic relevant to the discussion on SL relationships.

It appears you can do a Search All for "Born on: 2008-08-11" and find people born on that date.

Works for my born date, I'm at the top of the list for 2003 12-22 .

Whether it returns them all, and long it might take for them to show in search, I don't know.

I'm still interested in why the OP would want to do this.

It really seems like something that could be used for exploitation of newbs. I've seen stuff as a mentor that makes me want to punch some people in the face. Not that the OP is doing this, but I just can't figure out a legitimate reason for wanting this sort of search.

It's an interesting effect, to be sure, but aside from newb hunting or spamming folks with the same born-on date for some reason, I can't see a practical use for it either.

My res date happens to be May Day. Perhaps I have a built-in lame excuse. :)

That's brilliant, Suezanne! Will have to check that out just to see who all was born on my rez day :)

I love looking at profiles when I'm out dancing, etc. I usually find some new interesting place to go or an interesting group while doing so.

A couple of things kind of tip me off as to whether someone is a newbie or an alt, although these are by no means sure-fire methods:

*Someone having today's date on it, no other info on the entire profile and showing up at a class or some other public function carrying weapons to me = potential griefer

*Someone with today's date (or within the last few days) newbie looking in hair, etc., maybe belongs to the NCI group or something similar with a bit written in their SL profile I pretty much figure to be a true newbie.

*Someone with today's date (or within the last few days) but is dressed to the 9's with the latest prim hair, fashion, AO's, and in either a LOT of groups or some fairly obscure ones that a newbie likely wouldn't have heard of yet I generally figure to be an alt.

Now here are the ones that totally baffle me - profile has a rez date of somewhere around 2005-2006 and has nothing else in their profile anywhere...nada! I know groups can be hidden, but I'm seeing more and more of this type. I figure maybe the dazzle has worn off or for whatever reason the person doesn't spend much time in SL anymore but comes in once in awhile to visit, et.c

I have found that they are usually females who have "lost their love" and want a new start . . .

/me grabs the pointy sticks and duct tape, then yells "Newbie Hunt".

I have to admit this topic has gotten my curiousity aroused as well.

You can determine rez date by checking a profile, but there is no way at all to determine for sure that a person with a shiny new newbie avatar hasn't actually been playing in SL for years and years, and this is just an alt.

One "give away" might be the groups they belong to. A newbie is unlikely to belong to a large list of obscure groups. They are more likely to belong to none at all, or to a handful of "vip" groups for event and sales updates from clubs and stores.

Someone with a brand new avatar that already has a great skin, great clothes, and the like *might* be an alt, but you can't be sure. Within less than an hour of creating my very first account in SL, I had rushed out and bought a top-of-the-line furry avatar, and several very nice dresses, and a nice hairstyle. As soon as I left Help Island, I asked someone for directions to a good place to get a furry avatar, and started shopping. And I wasn't the least bit hesitant to whip out my credit card and buy twenty bucks worth of L$ to go on my first shopping spree, because I wanted to look good for a friend that was already in SL. I had talked with my friend about SL before joining, so I knew the names of a couple of sims, and knew a bit about how things worked.

Conversely, all of my alts get a cash influx from me as soon as they finish whipping through Orientation, and immediately get nice avatars, nice hair, and nice clothes.

So you can't tell.

Any alt account 'born' before 6/6/06 still receives a $50L a week stipend for every week that alt logs onto the platform.

I have 3 of them myself, their profile are all fairly sparse and they look for the most part like newbie freebie dumpster divers (which, in a way they are).

An extra $150L a week for logging them all in at one time once every monday morning while Im in the shower... not a bad proposition.

One thing to remember is that in search old avatars that have not logged in for years still show up. SO at least for some of the no profiles but a couple years old, I figure are people that tried SL and didnt like it. Never returned.

I tried finding newbies myself a while ago. I have a ton of stuff in my inventory I no longer use, manly clothing and I wanted to help someone out and shoosh them up a bit. I found it hard to find them, I went to a few meeting places for newbies and just clicked on profiles and looked at the rez dates. But like someone said, it's not always a good indication of whether or not the user is a newbee.
