PG and mature are too discriminatory in their allowance of art. "No nipples" just about clamps out every western, eastern, african, australasian, pacific, and american (N. and S.) artist who has depicted the human form from cave paintngs to video-scrambling.

If you wanted the freedom to exhibit, say, Mapplethorpe, may as well go with Zindra. Same goes for anything erotic, even those ancient Japanese prints showing voluminously clothed people being *hem* together, with just a strategically bare piece of anatomy here and there.

But I believe that simple (even photoreal) nudes in an obviously artistic setting, mixed in with very clearly non-erotic art, would be fine on Mature land. Don't take my word for it, tho, check it out over at slapt.me

My understanding has certainly been that material that was obviously artistic would be fine on Mature. And I am sure that shunga or Mapplethorpe would be defensible on those grounds.

The problem is, of course, that you have to rely on the judgment of the member of the G-team who is responding to any potential ARs. So, as much as I hate to say it, you might be better of on Zindra.

I can confirm that. It's unsettling to find relatively inocuous art photographs (previously on the pages of Vogue etc.) are considered unfit for display. I'm pretty sure the only people who could complain about them are the Amish (who dont have computers) and a few intensely religious people. Since when did SL start catering to the minority. I thought it was all for "the greatest good for the greatest number of people". (Bentham?)

You could always make yourself the test case? Push the limits, and force LL to be clearer on their policies????

I am still haunted by the comments of that moron who suggested in the one brown bag session on adult content that the amount of "T&A" on display at museums was the reason he kept his kids away from them: they were apparently "getting enough of that" on TV already . . .

I don't especially want the Resi-née-G-Team to be judging what is and isn't art. This is the lot that never met a slot machine they didn't like--as long as it was made by their pet scripter. Imagine them trying to wrap their small minds around Serrano.

As of this weekend, there were 794 private regions rated Adult, and 313 mainland (mostly Zindra, with a few test areas):

So it is now more correct to discuss Adult land in general, than just Zindra, since most of it is private regions.

The big jump recently is due to the warning letters being sent out. It will not be long before the Adult estates reach the same ratio as estates generally have to mainland (4.2:1) in area.

Well, I am not personally interested in owning Mainland, on Zindra or elsewhere. But I still have a vested interest in land prices being at rational levels in SL. Why? Because I build for others, and I make and sell textures that are bought by people who build. When land is impossibly priced, or when the land market is so unstable that people hold off on building because their plans are affected adversely, or when policy changes make it unclear about when and where one can build for certain purposes, they don't build, or hire others to build. That hits me directly in the pocketbook, even though I do not own or sell or rent Mainland. Because my CUSTOMERS do!

Greedy land flippers who ask extortion prices and make land out of reach of normal residents hurt content creators like me. So do policy changes by LL that hurt land owners. So when such things happen, I'll complain. Not because it harms me directly, but because it harms my customers. And when my customers are hurting, it also hurts my bottom line.

Probably it isn't. Unlike, say, British common law, where a really important fight might create a precedent, LL would just likely continue doing its random and arbitrary thing. Unless someone who has a bit of a clue, like Pathfinder, were put in charge.

So, Zindra land is going to be auctioned off starting on the 8th. So says Jack Linden's blog. So, as of the 9th, of 22 listings all 22 are parcels on Mainland continents. Use Map to find the purple coloured parcels on Zindra, then search for the parcel on the auctions page, nothing. TP to the parcel, get the auction number and search for that. Nothing.

What's up, Jack? Care to let us know what's up with the lack of listings for the Zindra parcels?

What time zone are *you* in? It's still the 8th in NZ! Before the 8th starts for SL it's still about 2 and a half hour.

I hope I stick to my guns and never buy on Zindra. In fact, I never want to go there at all. I may go there by accident because a Sim name does not give away the fact that its Zindra. When LL refused my swap, I became a permanent hater of LL and have such a nasty experience with it that this is even the first time that I have come back to this forum. I think LL is full of crap and I just hope for the day when an Open Grid can take over their market. If I become too sexual in SL and they ban me, I'm ready to leave now anyway.

I'm still getting the go-premium and buy something on Mainland itch. Haven't pulled the trigger yet though.

If I bought land on Zindra, I think I'd have to go with Immy, and throw up a sickeningly sweet pure PG build. Just 'cause.

Edit: if some of the people talking about buying mature mainland are serious, there's quite a few parcels for sale around the Coonspiracy, and now the sex farm has moved to Zindra it's a quiet pleasant area again. Look at the sims around Noonkkot.

Though building PG builds in Zindra tickles my fancy. ^^

I know. It's very tempting to build a completely PG "Temple to Linden Lab", made completely out of candy and toys, with a roof that looks like Mickey Mouse ears. The centerpiece would be a "Love Machine" that has nothing to do with sex ... all it would do is ineptly compliment any avatar who comes in chat range (getting the name and gender slightly wrong), while making defective chairs or something.

Won't buy there. I imagine there will be a crazy flurry of land flipping and then massive plots empty with insane prices. The sex market is pretty much saturated, plus, I think it will be more fun to see how one can circumvent (is that word banned?) the LL rules back on mature land. For me, SL has gotten to be such a mess of rules and confused regulations, that I'm ready to pull up stakes and try Blue Mars as soon as I can.

I got the link in the login screen's MOTD. Went there, couldn't find any listings at all for Adult land.

Searched the auctions on "Zindra" and "Adult". Nothing.

So...they're for sale, but you can't find them on the shelves.

Five Adult parcels were listed a few minutes ago.

Since the auction completion times are listed as noon PDT, then probably they will release batches around that time each day.
