Sorry for the double post.
I've decided how I feel about this. Bane.
It *could* be a nice thing. But let's face it freebies abound. It leaves me assuming that this orchestrated effort to publicise a string of sims and pass out samples of their wares is therefore a *public relations exercise*.
If so - epic fail.
The purpose is to get warm pixels into the shops, right? As such they are invited guests, then, yes?
Do the shop owners involved in the sim hunts realise how some of the "ladies" running the hunts treat the guests?
Bitching at them in IM? Banning anyone who helps another hunter? Muting anyone who 'corrects' (Dares to!) an admin in the group chat? They'd rather send out the same, WRONG clue repeatedly, than be corrected. Bitching at bystanders who were not even talking to them, while in one of the shops? Because they expressed relief this location was easier? Forbidding people to help each other *in IM*? In short acting as if "all your SL are belong to us."
You can invite the guests, you can hide the prizes, but shouting at people in random sims "It's a HUNT! It's supposed to be HARD!" isn't winning any goodwill. Let alone new customers. And being 'leader of the hunt' does not make you de facto goddess of Second Life.
"Twenty minutes? That's nothing!" one said (when a guest dared to say she was exhausted and ready to quit)...Who has twenty minutes to fly around a shop looking for a freebie. Who wants to? Imposing that upon them, refusing them help from others (or you're BANNED?) is insane. Accepting an invitation to the hunt does not forfeit one's real life. That's a low budget horror film, not a relaxing pastime in an online game.
Have you forgotten, "ladies"? These are supposed to be FUN.
