Surprised, yes. Had a conversation once with a four-foot-high computer mouse. It was really pissed because its right-hand button wouldn't work. I told him he must be a Microsoft product...
...And then there was the hedgehog tiny that had an animation whereby it could walk up to you and pee on your leg and this big yellow puddle would form around your feet.
So you can see why now, nothing in SL surprises me anymore.

Oh hell I remember once being in an otherwise deserted mall and I ran into this demon guy all red and horny and stuff and he started talking to me. So here I am attempting to hold a normal human being conversation with this guy, but he wasn't having it. He wasn't going to come out of his role play demon mode and it was obviously his mission to freak me out. Well he did...made me tp away cause this guy was truly a freak!
Said to me that he wanted to take me to hell with him and borkity bork bork me on a hot bed of coals...and then he went voice and started talking all snake and hissy. The things this guy was saying to me gave me the cold chills. Just evil!
That definately freaked me out.

From: MoxZ Mokeev ...went voice... I've done that twice. It was very stressful for me, and the people that heard me are still recovering from the nightmares. (^_^)

I've seen a place that is kind of disturbing. It's a clinic you walk through that simulates what schizophrenics experience. That actually wasn't fun, but kind of troubling. I don't remember where it is.

(^_^) I've actually been in volce for much of the SL Day of Remembrance building stuff. I dun hate it, but I'm generally not gonna use it. My sister gets bothered by scary avvies. I can't wear my "acylote of void" from Grendel's around her. Mari

A few months ago I met a guy whose avatar was a sort of filthy, decomposing man. His clothes were ripped, revealing warty, gross skin. He had some kind of scripted autofarter that occasionally sent poofs of green smoke out his butt and played fart sounds. The guy even had little fly minions that followed him wherever he went. I felt physically ill after being around him a few minutes, and have shuddered several times since.

Man...yea! Not so much scary or freaky, but I was hanging around in the Morris welcome area trying to help some people out and this male avatar (wish i got the name) walked right up. He stood right next to me looking directly at me.....I have never seen such a well put together avi since, all black clothing with buckles, grayish skin, and really the most realistic looking face ever. It was shocking because I really couldn't get over how great he looked.....I tried to im him to ask about where and how he got his clothes etc...and he walked away. I have been trying to get close to that look ever since.......just outright amazing. I think if anyone have seen this guy they would for sure remember that look.

From: Brann Georgia The thing about the carnival is that you have to scratch a little below the surface to find the gems. It's not meant to be an amusement park or to be simply looked at. And it does help to go with someone for some interesting results. not quiet sure what one is supposed to do to find anything there, it just look mostly like some broken down rides, a house of sorts that I think was supposed to be like a weird maze, fields of I think corn, that was about all I saw and I wandered all over the place... *shrug* one place I found that was cool for a short while LOL was avatarum (think I spelled that right) that is the name of the sim

That sounds like someone I've seen in Hanja too... I won't name names, but I remember his. I got him to say "Hi" once. (^_^)y

Freakiest AV I've seen would have to be the wicked little troll girl that swooped down near my friend and I while we were shopping at the latex mall. Very detailed, with stringy hair that kind of reminded me of the gross little girl from the movie The Grudge.
..And yes, the default male AV is usually pretty skeery too.

From: Trout Recreant huh. Weird. I haven't been there in a while. Maybe they changed it around. Let's blame havok When I went last week I was greeted by a notecard that said Havok messed up the hud. So lots of the features from before are not working anymore. Unless they got it together again since last week.

The scariest avatar I've ever seen was my normal avatar the first night I tried the 1.19.1 viewer. All avatars looked like a deformed scarecrow that had gone through a shredder until I turned off Hardware Skinning or some other Graphics setting.

I've been freaked out by an "avatar" once - but it may not have been a real avatar. Except... Well, let me explain. I was visiting a place called the "Devil's Labyrinth", which is a sort of haunted house, but slightly more hardcore than the Carnival. It's a multi-path maze filled with disturbing sounds and imagery. There are many ways out, and a few ways to not get out. In any case... After going through a certain part of the maze, I emerged in what looked like the sanctuary of a decent-sized long-abandoned cathedral. I headed up the aisle toward the altar, and noticed that in the left-hand bank of pews was sitting someone - a black-robed hooded figure. The typical avatar name floated above the figure - I do not remember the name, but I remember that his group title was "Dark Priest". The name also had the (Away) indicator in it. So I passed him and went up to the altar (a coffin, appropriately enough) and obtained a freebie shirt or something, when suddenly the Dark Priest said "You look kind of cute." I was in my typical kid av, and presumed he was talking to me, so I turned to face him. The (Away) indicator had disappeared, as if he'd come back. But something occurred to me. Although his name (not the group name) preceded his chat like you'd expect, all his text was in green - the chat of an object, not an avatar. I took a close look at him, and found that when right-clicking on his name or his body, I did not get the avatar pie menu (with the options like IM and Profile, etc); I got the object pie menu (with options like "Edit" . I left-clicked on him/it, and in the same green object chat text, he said "That tickles". I found that by repeatedly clicking on him, I could cycle through a set of about 4 different stock "replies". "That tickles" was among them. "You look kind of cute" was not, but I didn't think on it. "Ha," I said in open chat. "You're not real." In green text came a reply. "Sure about that, are you?" it said. THAT freaked me out. I scooted back down the aisle without a word and off to the rest of the maze.

there have been two avvies that freaked me out enough to mutter an apology and tp away... The first was a partially rotted corpse...the skin was a greyish blue...which wasnt so bad, but when he turned around, half his face was rotted away....you could see the bone, and the eyball and all the muscles and....eugh *shudder* It totally creeped me out... But the worst....the absolute worst I have seen so far, didnt even get an apology before I had to Tp away.... They were dressed as a Care Bear.... those things are creepy! I just had to get away...
