Hi there,

I was just wondering everyones thoughts were on what is the best weapon/ownage in SL? I don't mean like guns or swords...more like a hud or menu operated ownage.

Thanks for your time :)

Natano, I hear that Force Prophecies is the Hultimate Detergent. Never tried it myself, though...my MystiTool is more than enough to try and master, and has weapons that are capable of actually damaging avatars and attachments when used at full force.

It's called the Region/Estate window. You get access to it when you reach level 50 in Social Climbing.

The best "ownage HUD" is the one Lindens use to suspend gunhappy griefers .

The Omicron by The Omega Concern is very, very good. Load it with their Eye of Horus, and you have the most undefeatable combination you can get. IM April Heaney and ask for a demo.

I've been stuck at level 30 in Social Climbing :(

However, since I spent my 8 Alternative Ability points in "Innate Drama Avoidance", my life has been much simpler ;)

My Mind...

The best weapon I know of that I use all the time is right between my ears.
Other than that, for those who are feeble minded, there is such a device called the MystiTool which has elements of weapons in it, especially the defensive weapons one uses to prevent griefing. There is a great free version available too! I kinda compare it to Omega-13 (from the movie Galaxy Quest) :)

To be honest it's not worth the grind reaching level 50. One has to camp the Linden spawn points, or "Office Hours", and they only spawn once a week at most - sometimes not at all!

Thank you ver much for that Ord. I needed that smile ^.^ (At level 10 myself *grins*)

However, I will answer with a serious addition to this statement:
The Parcel land options, as well as the Region/Estate land options for Ban/Eject/Freeze/TP-Home are definately the best, however, many Resident scripted HUDs make using those options much easier through simple click-to-use buttons instead of tring to open this or that LL menu and UI.

Same function, different path.

Aside from that, any weapons used outside of specific combat areas, and within the rules of those areas show that the user has the IQ of a retarded cockaroach. (Appollogies to the retarded cockaroaches).

Fun combat can be found in SL, but not with the "who can have the biggest Push/Orbit script on thier weapon" type of play. Quite frankly, those weapons are just dumb. Seeing the "Push" weapon selections and ads is like watching a grade school argument of the "one up" kid that always has to win *chuckles*.

Oh, I seem to have wandered into the Resident Mockery forum. I thought I was in Resident Answers. Resident asks a question and simply gets mocked. Why is that? Because some questions are better than others? or some questions don't deserve a proper answer? Then why reply at all?

To the OP. I'm no expert on weapons systems, but Force Prophesies is cool and very cheap. Great anti-griefer system in the right hands. For this reason, however, it is banned in virtually every combat area.

The Mysti-tool is in some ways more powerful - it can actually damage avis attachments - but less easy to use.

It's best to check which combat systems are accepted in the various combat areas. Most have their own systems.

NB: using these systems in non-combat areas will get you well-deserved ARs and you could eventually be banned from SL. In the right places they can be great fun.

Well I got my FP to help a friend who is an island owner and was getting a lot of griefers at one time.
When she was not around a bunch of regulars would take turns minding the place for her.
We'd also sit around meditating together while we were at it. Wery cool.
I never actually used it as a weapon mind you, turned out to be not my style. The shield function is very useful if you spend time in sandboxes, plus easy to use. FP also has some cool particle effects :D

I love my Mystitool, but again have never used the weaponry, which I believe is actually far more damaging than FP. And since I don't frequent sandboxes anymore, I am rarely in need of a shield these days.

Chas, the OP got some good replies, mine and yours among them. I think the mockery arose because of the OP's use of the word "ownage". It implies, shall we say, a wargames approach to SL. That's probably not the right attitude to take in this world, unless you're in a combat sim.

You're right, the mockery is wrong. But the OP should be careful...this isn't, generally speaking, a place that favors weapons, combat, or "ownage", although there are areas for that. Combat fanatics should go play Halo or Call of Duty instead, and let the rest of us get on with our boring building, shopping, and socializing.

Exactly what does Mystitools do that can damage avatars and attachments? Are we talking until you relog, or something worse?

Mystitools can orbit an avatar, toss an avatar, and many many other things that I haven't looked at (like "crush" and "die" and the like). I've had avatars/attachments damaged by orbits. Depending on um . . penguins? (I don't know), some were for-ever-after corrupted.

I don't remember the exact wording, but the instructions for the Mystitool does warn that some of the features can damage attachments. I think it are those which are no mod but I may be mistaken.

The Mysti-tool comes with a warning that if you orbit someone at the highest setting you can actually damage attachments for good. In other words, don't use it, full stop!

I'm surprised that such weapons would be included then. Sounds a bit overboard.

I agree with you, but I realised after a few a posts that we - me included - were perhaps making too many assumptions. He'll get the answers from somewhere, so why not here.

And I'll see him coming on my FP or Mysti-radar:)

Being Prepared...
12-10-2007 13:28
From: Chas Connolly
Oh, I seem to have wandered into the Resident Mockery forum. I thought I was in Resident Answers. Resident asks a question and simply gets mocked.
Chas... I was dead serious when I said the mind is the best weapon. Being a person who was killed by a griefer, I am not laughing at all. I think that when all is said and done, when exploring, and wandering into an unknown region, it is best to have your log active and if you have a MystiTool and know how to use it can defend you as well. The best offense or defense is BEING PREPARED. There are many, many, ways of defending yourself in SL, and a few were mentioned in this thread. Then again, there are times when levity is the best weapon...not taking things too serious. The time I was attacked and killed by a griefer, I began to boil inside...they got under my skin. After a few hours of cooling off, I had to laugh a little, and it helped. Maybe there should be a way for LL to disable NOOBs from buying weapons in their first 2 months of life in SL, which would prevent the need for 95% of parrying against unwarranted attacks. Seriously folks... :p
