no... I think you aren't thinking socially... I'm trying to prod these thoughts.
Er, I *am* thinking socially. That's the point, I'm pitching social differences... how the user interacts with them... and you're coming back with technical details.

You're comparing websites to a virtual world community
I'm comparing the concept of websites (the internet model) to the concept of a unitary world (the Compuserve model).

Would it be bragging to state that I am BigEndian?
Mainframes laugh at your puny byte-oriented address space.

Someone asked who would police the PG standards if the main grid was indeed PG. I said, we would. I just used child avs as an example for efficient self-policing (in fact, a way too efficient one).
And, as I noted when you made that point, it doesn't work. It hasn't stopped sexual ageplay at all. You can't prevent consenting individuals (adult or not) from finding each other and playing out their fantasies. You can't have perfect success keeping the adult and child grids separated, either, but it is possible to succeed much better than LL has... the current policy in SL means that it's actually easier for kids to get on the adult grid than on the teen grid!

I think it would be a great idea to do an experiment in complete and total anarchy if we could find someone to organize the event.

We have. It's called "Russia".

NO Gambling either :) (on OpenLifeGrid)

Well, shoot. What the heck are people going to DO over there for fun? Recite poetry to each other?

At this stage of virtual worlds, I don't think a startup can afford to ignore major potential industries like this. I mean, the sex in SL drives not only the dancer and escort business, but clubs in general, and about 95% of the fashion and animation industry.

Not if he spaces his Claymores properly.

And I don't think they are empty either, at least coming from Chris and what I know of him. I won't speak for him, but there is the saying "better to die on one's feet than to live on one's knees." I am starting to subscribe to that more each day.

If you mean RL, you haven't worked with Claymores. Even with the arrows, I always figured I would be the guy to take out his unit by putting one or more the wrong way in the dark. That said, with the right enemy, they were as much warning as weapon.

OTOH, I occasionally fantasized about mounting them to the frame of my car and covering them with fog light covers when driving in Washington DC traffic.

Just make some green bumper stickers with "front toward enemy" printed on them. You'll get just as "good" a reaction.
