From: Clarissa Lowell I wanna learn ALL these tier 2 of SL, higher learning types of things.
I need a teacher(s) - I've actually asked about that for some months off and on. I even ran an ad in search once. (I got mostly newbies who didn't even follow the 'send a notecard not an IM' or 'tell me about your skills' part. I got mostly "Hi I want a job" IM.) i want a job.

Even knowing how to use Photoshop basics or how to make a roof for a house that isn't flat would be a start! LOL. I have RL later but will be in if I can. And thanks so much!

I have RL later but will be in if I can. And thanks so much! To pitch a roof, take two identical flat prims lying side by side. Tip one to an angle of 60 degrees or whatever you like. Tip the other to 360 minus whatever the other is tipped to, and bring them together. Make a long prism to form the point where they join. Two of the positions for the long flat prims will always be the same: y and z or x and z. .

. or hollow out a cube, turn it 45 dgrees, then cut it in half and stretch accordingly.

From: Clarissa Lowell Everything.
I want to do it all.
Right now, all I can do is make glorified shoebox houses. The approach I took -- I had a somewhat complex house given to me by a friend. I liked it but wanted a few things different, so I simply started building a duplicate next to it. Granted, I do have someone that I can ask questions of when I do not understand why something was done a certain way or how I can maybe make the change that I want. It has been a fabulous learning experience though.

I'll drop you an LM and you can pop in anytime to look at it. I think I learned more doing that roof than in any other part of the house.

Thanks I will try doing these things.
Where would one add the numbers, the -360 and all that? How do you tip something to a 60 degree angle?

Where would one add the numbers, the -360 and all that? How do you tip something to a 60 degree angle? Just select a prim, hold control and use the tools that show up to rotate it. Also pay attention to the numbers in the Object tab of the build menu while you do this. Then learn to edit by just changing those numbers. Do this for five minutes and you will become a master. How to master anything: Click every key, change every value, explore every option, break everything you can possibly break. Go nuts. You will learn faster then taking a class.

I can rotate things and I can put numbers in the xyz but I didn't know I could set a percentage for the rotation. Do you remember where that number would go?
And thanks.

And thanks. It does not take percentages. You have to do the math in your head.

The rotation values in the object tab of the build menu are already in degrees. Just add and subtract normally there.
