Since there are a million hair places to choose from i was wondering if some of you could list your top three for me. I spent the good part of yesterday wandering around the hair world and could have used some recommendations. Im currently wearing hair by Lost Thereian which im finding out is one of the best.....your suggestions please....

I've only ever bought hair from Cake, but am always grateful for the freebie I wore for a while from Calla.

Hi there,

We've had a few of these threads recently, the most specific one, though somewhat older, is here:

/327/fa/188582/1.html

If you want to shop without shopping you could also check out the savoir hair blog, which reviews hair and only hair. http://savoirhair.blogspot.com/

My current personal favourite stores are ETD, Armidi, Zero style, HCT and Sirena. Funnily enough the wig I wear the most is from Artilleri, which is not on that list, because I've only got one of their styles. But the cutest pigtails I know and low prim, which is handy when music hopping.

Have fun :)

I like Analog dog. Their hair structure is wonderful and realistic, i think. Long wawy curls mmmm.... They have color change HUD's too, so i can buy a blonde or light pack and change it into red or dark colors. And still have the blonde colors, since their hair is copyable. The only thing i don't like with Analog Dog is that their updo's range is almost nothing. Bewitched hair is another one, but i think their hair is a bit too curly and big. Bewitched has good deals on the members of their hair update group. So has Calla. Analog Dog should give their customers some favors too, but so far they have nothing.

What's wrong with a Demo being pink? Isn't it just a demo?

Hayate Ewing makes the best hair on SL - IM me for an LM to her small but perfectly formed store. I've never met her, I think she is Japanese and doesn't speak a lot of English, but damn her hair is good.

I also like some of the new Naughty Designs hairs, and Calla.

I went off Gurl6 a while ago.

I have a bit of a hair addiction...

You can not get a true reading of how it looks on you... I wear white.. no one ever uses white as demo, bought some horrible hair in white...thinking it looked fine in mint green.... Nope. Pink is not a good color to use as a demo.. a dark blonde, or med. brown is best.

ETD, Gurl6 and Calla - ETD offers some great reductions and freebies.

I recently bought one at Cake - most expensive hair I've ever bought, and goes see-through in some light, so I'm not sure I'd buy there again.

Top Three Hair Studios

There are so many excellent studios in SL, but one definately checking out is Armidi. It's stunning.

Also worth your time is Cherlindrea Lamont's blog: http://fabfree.wordpress.com/
where she has a consistently good supply of freebie hair listed.

That is a very good point. One or two of my all time favourite hairstyles are a reduced price one from there.
The freebies there are pretty nice too.

Um, seriously? I find the hair there fair to middling at best...

I'm a huge Bewitched fan. Yes, there are a lot of the super-curly styles (which I disliked at first, but they grow on you) but there are also sleek straight styles, updos, long, short... I have yet to find another hair designer in SL with Shel's range. They are also extremely good to their customers and run frequent promotions. Bewitched is my absolute, top favorite hair studio in SL, without a doubt.

I recently discovered Analog Dog after asking a friend about her new style. I love their textures - if I'd known about them then, I'd definitely have nominated them in the "most realistic hair" thread a while back. I haven't shopped there enough to know if they'll become a favorite, but they definitely got my attention.

As for a third... it's hard to say! I really like Diversity. ETD. Wilted Rose. GuRL. Goldie Locks. May be my shape, but Calla has never looked quite right on me. Cake never does much for me, either. Others swear by both, and look good in them. I can't remember the name of Sinnocent Mirabeau's (sp?) studio now, but I found some styles I liked there.

I just know I'm going to go in-world and smack my forehead and say, "How could I have left out...."

Agreed. Armidi has some great sculpty shoes and boots, but the hair's just so-so.

ETD - Best all around price, selection, realistic color and texture, and wide color range
Analog Dog - Best selection of long flexi hair. Good textures, but many colors using the HUD are unrealistic.
Cake - Best realistic styles overall. Very high prices.

Honorable mention:
Jolie Femme - a couple of outstanding flexi styles, but also quite a few mediocre ones.
Zero Style - super hair, especially if you favor the anime or Asian look. Their "Mariah" style is my current everyday favorite.

well so far nothing for me...but im very picky, im also a famous hair colorist in new york city so that could have something to do with it...lol
What im finding is the flexi hair is nice, but on the long shag styles there is no volume at all, everything is hanging against the face..not good for me. Also, the color variation is to subtle on some of the pieces..the piece im wearing now...Beach Hair by Lost Thereian isnt Flexi but it has a lot going for it...darker root area, and the long blond pieces twist and create volume. Im still looking though!

Pandia's Purrfect Hair and Celestial Studios have most of my favorite styles.

I have a huge hair addiction going on right now, as I just discovered some new places. It really depends on what you like, but here is my opinion:
Calico Creations is the first one I discovered that I really liked and is still one of my favorites, although they seem to be slowing down on new styles, so I go there less often. I like her textures and the "flow" of the hair from there, though.
GuRL 6 has nice hair, and I have a lot of longer curly styles from her that I really like. However, that place is so huge and lag is really bad for me. I usually just snatch up some demos and then tp home to try them. Then I run into the problem of not being able to find that same hairstyle that I demo'd when I go back because it's so big and there's tons of hair.
Analog Dog is a current favorite....I started off as a blonde, but I've been using darker shades lately to go with some new skins I bought. I really like Analog Dog's red and brunette textures, looks very realistic. Not altogether happy with their blondes, though. And I know they have the HUD, but I haven't even bothered getting involved with that yet.
Honorable mention: Sirena....the textures are really glossy, but some of the colors aren't true enough to life for me. I prefer more RL colors....just never really got into pink, blue or purple hair. But that's just me.
