One 992m plot is bid alreay up to L$141,070.00, which strikes me as insane. Many plots are in the $50-$60L/m2 range already. Why are these so valuable, and will they hold value as Linden unleashes 20 more servers like this?
The double prim bonus seems nice, but the high premium these plots have right now seem like they would pay for *years* of extra tier to get the same number of prims on a regular plot.
Are these worth it? Do you think they will resell for as much in 6 months?

They're worth what people are prepared to pay for them. I sure as hell won't be bothering to pay prices like that.

But since the tier is the same as a normal 512 or whatever and you get double prims... how much is it worth in the long run? It may be worth exactly that amount or more.

I put a bid in on one today -- and was promptly creamed. Scary stuff!

I am way to cheap to pay what the Bay City lots are going for. I must admit, though, I'm dying to see what the area will look like once builds start going up. From: someone LL is laughing all the way to the bank Yeah, and planning many, many more sims like this to be sold at auction.

What I'm starting to worry about is dis. Dumb investors, seeing the rush at Bay City, are dumping in large chunks of cash to flip that land. As a result the area is gonna be awash in spinny for sale signs for many months to come as these folks to try make up all that money. There's a reason those for sale plots have been sittin in Nova Albion for so long. Mari

I'm thinking I'll wait for the next expansion or two. Wait for the fervor to subside a bit.

A dozen Krispy Kremes and a case of Coke. Why?

No. I don't care how nice it may be, in the end it is still only a bunch of bits on a computer somehwere. it isn't worth that kind of money to me.

There's another take on "Double Prims"
That would be "Half the Area"
In a Half-Area parcel, there is twice(?) the possibility of having your screen filled with chat coming from adjacent parcels. In RL, walls can be soundproofed.

Here's the closing price on the last auction to close today:
Bay City parcel 2ee plus - Mature 1344m 614 prims Current bid: L$252,970.00
Two of the plots due to close tomorrow are already 250K. Lots of them are nowhere near that high. I didn't get to see what the others went for today. Did anything sell for under 100K?

good lord that is insane
I wonder if ll will be monitoring what is put on those plots, ie, spinning ads and such
will folks have to build to fit the theme?
if so a lot of folks might be in for a rude awakening

WOW almost $1000 USD for one 1344m parcel. My hopes of getting a parcel there look slim. I'll have to wait until they ruin it and the property value comes down so us poor folk can move in.

I wonder if this counts as profit to LL's bottom line. I mean everyone is paying for these parcels in L$. To LL L$ isn't real since they can print as much of it as they care to.
Really these parcels are just acting like a freaking enormous L$ sink. Is a L$250,000 sink as valuable as L$250,000 sold on the lindex to the company? Do you think LL keeps all those L$ transactions in some account somewhere? What would be the point of that?

Hmm interesting It could be some sort of internal revenue balancing trick, make their own disposable alts and loose some cash in system. But really they can do this anywhere without having to theme 20 sims to do it. Looking at old mainland I suspect there are a lot of abandoned parcels that aren't being taken from never returning owners to give the appearance they are owned by someone. I imagine it will be Spinning Sale Sign City in a few months, once every one realises they are buying half-space parcels, not double prims. Double prims is fine when you have chat distance space between you and neighbours. Some of the plots don't even have road frontage. And it doesn't even connect to Linden water elsewhere, you have canals that just stop dead instead of leading to some openspace ocean sims

Right now, there's a gathering of avatars in Bay City - Docklands. I'm wearing a house and a FOR SALE SIGN. Right beside us, there are two 1024m parcels up for immediate resale at L$199900 each.
Bay City parcel 2dd - Mature 1024m 468 prims Bay City parcel 2q - Mature 1024m 468 prims
Oh sanity where art thou?

I wonder if they are doing some extra Supply Linden sales to counteract the Linden sink and capitalize on the short term demand for extra $L.

I put 125k up this morning, when it was something over 30M for sale, and it's already been filled.

Insane. Totally insane. Had a feeling they would go very high in price but not that high.
In answer to the OP's question. No, definately not.
