Neat. I rather like the "friends as inventory" thing, if the official interface insists on carrying on with the "communicate" button (I've been stubbornly seeking out and using viewers that feature the old-style Friends button all this time).

Some excerpts"
From: someone
Firstly, the menus have been renamed. The new ones are (in order) Me, Communicate, World, Help, Geek, Debug and Develop. Click below for a larger view.

From: someone
You'll also note that the top bar is heavily reworked, featuring a button for teleporting home, and a teleport history (more about that feature in a minute).

From: someone
What about those pie-shaped context menus? They're gone. They've been replaced with simple, yet functional ordinary sub-treed pop-up menus.

"Second Life 2.0" got me all hot until I realised that it was jsut a slightly different way of looking at the same thing...

"GEEK" Menu ???
Isn't that just a tad twee? Somewhat intimidating to the millions of non-tech consumers looking for safe predictable experiences?

Maybe we have to wait for Second Life 20.0 for a decent Inventory management system :(

Speaking for myself, the main reason that my Inventory is bigger than I actually need it to be is sheer frustration with the tools.
I've lost count of the times I've sworn at high volume in RL because the Inventory window into which I'm trying to drag items has taken on a dynamic life of its own, taunting me and shifting folders when the mouse cursor gets to within 2 pixels of the target folder.

One of these days/years. LL it going to start imposing limits on Inventory. If they haven't produced a sane Inventory managment system by then, there is going to be *such* drama.

Could the thread name also be named "sneak pee"?

Big Spaceship sucks. That top menu bar sucks. What a trendy wasteful idea that equals no real improvement.

Hey LL it's not the GUI that pisses people off so much, it's you.

Yes, yes, and yes.

I do remember there being a setting, in Debug Settings or an xml file where you could lengthen the delay before an inventory folder opens when you mouse goes by it -- must find that and get it reset again.

I do like having a button for TP Home - I can just never seem to remember the keyboard shortcut so I always have to do it via the menus.

/me shakes head after attempting (and failing) to understand what is presumably some sort of an attempt at humour.

Pep (Perhaps it is funny in German?)

Oh, come on, Angel. This isn't for us...we passed the "figure it out on your own metaverse IQ test" already. This is for all the non-marginal, non-outcast, non-pioneers who never make it past the first 10 minutes.

Bring it on. :D

Well I'll be. It's legit. When I first saw the thread I thought we were going to see another youtube link to a 3d modeling art project (that has been posted about five times in the past year).

The menu change seems somewhat retarded but the additions to the Friends list and the Places thingy seem somewhat useful. I'm not sure they warrant an entire 6-8 months of development time though. Having calling cards as actual objects in inventory always seemed kinda clunky and pointless.

Is there a blog that shows how the inventory looks? I do not see any on Massively. There is a new landmark view but that is not the inventory window. How does everybody know that the inventory does not have a worn tab? Is that just made up stuff?

Fiddling with these in the debug menu can help a little but yes, inventory features could use a lot of work.

FolderAutoOpenDelay: Seconds before automatically expanding the folder under the mouse when performing inventory drag and drop

InventoryAutoOpenDelay: Seconds before automatically opening inventory when mouse is over inventory button when performing inventory drag and drop

Not having that View menu or the Lag Meter thingie is gonna just absolutely kill me. Those two are what I use for helping people.

I hope they are just somewhere else, or that I missed them.
