So my replica statue of Lady Justice with one breast exposed, like the statue in every courtroom in the nation, including the US Supreme Court is not PG? CAUTION!! NSFW Image!! Click out NOW!! I don't see the big News articles on it now on Google, but the original was "supposed" to be covered up before a press conference or some crap a while back, but there was a public uproar. There's THIS incident too: "Worst Cover-Up" (12/30/01) New York Newsday & Parade Magazine The State Bar of Wisconsin has forced sculptor David Wanner to put a shirt on his statue of a topless woman symbolizing justice. One of the association's committees commissioned Wanner to sculpt the classical figure of "Lady Justice." Even though his topless clay model had been approved, employees complained. I agree w/ what somebody said...I think the avs might have permanent underwear or some crap down the line...and leave the "Mature Content" to certain Grids who allow it...but not these big business-oriented ones. I think it makes sense because it is consistent. The differentiation between male and female toplessness is blatantly sexist and arbitrary. Obviously allowing all toplessness in a PG area wouldn't fly and defeat the whole point of PG, and so the best they can do is eliminate the sexism. So, what is the problem? What is the reason for complaining in this thread? Either you are advocating equal-opportunity shirtlessness (which is silly on its face and would defeat the point of PG) or you are supporting the sexist differentiation between the "acceptability" of female and male bodies in policy. I'm for equal-opportunity shirtlessness in PG Just simpler. |

Nipples are nipples, though to be honest I think going to a party with no shirt on in RL wouldn't necessarily mean ejection.. just mockery and laughter.
Particularly for those fine physical specimens who spend 2 or more hours a day in SL. As for those using the whole "animals have nipples too" argument.. firstly .. well done on your general knowledge. Secondly..maybe the fact that your dog likes to stretch out and lick its own testicles in front of your Mother-in-law might be the prompt you've long been waiting on. I'm thinking however that, for most people, there are obvious differences in expected behaviour and what's good for the goose isn't necessarily good for the human. |

The main problem is that Linden Labs's policy on what is mature/non-mature content is linked to an arcane, standardless, and arbitrary policy of the MPAA. Linden Labs should call it's non-mature content standards something other than PG.
(Then again, maybe that's precisely why Linden Labs links it's content policy to the MPAA standards. Linden Labs doesn't actually want to create a policy, just create the appearance that it has.) If Linden Labs just made the requirement that it wanted the men to wear shirts if they are participating in their event, without trying to justify the decision, then the issue isn't fodder for a long, tormented forum thread. (Though maybe I'm underestimating the forums.) |
