Stupidity of the Week: Guys without shirts are "mature"

Do y'all really care? I mean- would you not rather go to a party organized by friends? Isn't this some sort of official to-do? If so- screw it- who cares who does what- have your own party-

-if it isn't - never mind- pin it on Dial-Up lag- I am having issues and it makes me nervous...

Of course all this about a wearing a shirt, is pretty silly, but all of this controversy is based in something that should not be minimized.

There is a new film on DVD called "The Flock," starring Richard Gere and Clair Danes, that tells the story of a, burnt-out to-the-point-of-craziness, long time official of a state Department of Public Safety, who works with the sex offender registration list.

As entertainment, I can't recommend it ---it is too gross----but as a to the point depiction of the realities of Sex Offender issues it is worth seeing and a good reminder to those who might be scoffing at the people who seem to be hysterical about sex crimes issues and it's impact inside SL.

not so much whitewashing but the result of a cultural melting pot with many different opinions and some very intollerant ones in some areas.

Yeah they get pretty uptight about nipples even on statues in pg areas around public events.
Maybe they are afraid of some Nipple scandal or something.

I'd guess neither considering the context, it would apply to submissions only and not to people who visit.

Because we know movies are the right place to get the truth about real life issues

Like any other medium, some films can reveal truths about real life issues. Films can sometimes, be particularly useful. This one I mentioned does not preach or have a overt mesage, nor is it exploitive. It does give a glimpse into the real world horrors seen by those who have had to work in the field of policing and keeping track of Sex Offenders and in many ways is quite realistic. It is too graphic and disturbing for me to recommend it as entertainment. The film apparently was withheld from general release in theaters. It may cause those who scoff about online, predatory, Sex Offenders as they pertain to SL and all online communities, to have second thoughts about treating the subject, as though it is all just paramoid, hysteria created by disreputable news sources and cynicism about congressmen bent on furthering their career. Some people might just need to be reminded that this is a very real thing and that is why is is such a sensitive issue.

well I kinda meant the whole project overall, not one specific aspect of it. Open Sim , Xtend, whoever as long as I can eventually look forward to tell a certain 'compamy that can't be named with a TM' to 'kiss my grits!!'

Personally sometimes when I see men walking bare chested in public I feel the urge to whip my own shirt off and say to them, "hey mate you realise you look as good as I would naked?" as many of them certainly don't present the physical form for such a display.

Hmm, maybe the Forum Hangout should hold a "Prim Party" where all you are allowed to wear are prims

From my subjective experience of exploration of the mainland, there seem to be a lot more mature regions than PG ones. So I don't see why guys having to wear shirts in a PG area is such a big deal.

Why do we even have PG areas at all?

There would be alot less lag and inventory problems if everybody was nude all the time....

Oh yes, it was on the Dam in Amsterdam yesterday. And before that here in town at the local supermarket... and of course many farmer boys/men work bare breasted on the land...

Nothing wrong with that in my humble opinion.

And at parties? Depends on the party.... BBQ, beach party... all fine. At a dance gala it may be less fitting.
