If that exert is correct, then that's for the builds. They didn't say anything about visitors at the party!
Unless they decide to post a sign that says, "No shirt, no shoes, no service..." at which point, taking off your pants would be a good thing ![]() _____________________

You think OpenSim is good? You REALLY need to take a look at what the guys over at realXtend are doing: http://www.realxtend.org/ In particular, watch the videos, bottom of page to top, here: http://www.realxtend.org/page.php?pg=media Just went over to that URL...quite impressive. Very similar to SL. Its only a matter of time until a viable alternative emerges! If SL continues to be santitized and mis-managed, i can envisage a significant exodus particularly from non-content creators who just want to play the game and interact with others. |

I have the RealXTend viewer installed and I've been on Litesim and OpenLife Grid. What a bunch of "meh". So far, the current viewer version is where the SL viewer was 3 years ago, and the grids I can connect to are where SL was 4 years ago or more, and the whole thing seems like an empty pipe-dream of technological elitists. (=_=)
What SL has going for it in my eyes is volume and scale. There are tons of residents meaning tons of people to meet from around the world. There are equally tons of different content creators with a huge spread of variety. There is just enough social openness for me to tolerate the environment and not get overwhelmed by too much RL information. (o.o) It's funny that we cry about SL being beta, then look in fascination at an alternative that's way below beta with "oohs and aahs". So far RealXTend is saying "Look at what we CAN do... We're not actually doing it publicly, but we can." .... Meh .... Meh .... Meh .... (=_=) Especially when the current discussion is over male nipples. Am I the only one that finds this silly? I mean, my avatar type has the longest "do not" list of rules for the entire grid. But, I'm still here and still enjoying what's available. I'm sure the rest of us can deal with it too. I'm with you, ImNotGoing. Until one of these SL wannabes gets some serious funding behind their blingbling technology and puts it into a workable world with a workable economy and content creation tools...and STABILITY...they're nothing more than a conversation piece.

I think it makes sense because it is consistent. The differentiation between male and female toplessness is blatantly sexist and arbitrary. Obviously allowing all toplessness in a PG area wouldn't fly and defeat the whole point of PG, and so the best they can do is eliminate the sexism.
So, what is the problem? What is the reason for complaining in this thread? Either you are advocating equal-opportunity shirtlessness (which is silly on its face and would defeat the point of PG) or you are supporting the sexist differentiation between the "acceptability" of female and male bodies in policy. |

So, what is the problem? What is the reason for complaining in this thread? My problem, as I've said several times, is with their rewriting the definition of "PG" to suit themselves, instead of just stating their policy in a way that doesn't involve rewriting of the definition of "PG". Once more: They've declared something non-PG (topless men / exposed male nipples) that is, and has been since the standard was introduced, PG. That's blatant stupidity or raging egotism. Or both. _____________________
I dont know what the actual answer is.. I just know LLs response was at best...flaccid. That's a very good way to put it, and now I know why we still haven't seen the promised blog entry... ...the Lindens are still waiting for their shipment of Lie-agra to come in to firm up their flaccid reasoning. |

My problem, as I've said several times, is with their rewriting the definition of "PG" to suit themselves, instead of just stating their policy in a way that doesn't involve rewriting of the definition of "PG". It doesn't even say "no guys without shirts", it just says "no nudity of any kind" and it doesn't even apply to guests, only submissions and it's not even being attributed to coming from a Linden. |

They're not rewriting the definition of PG as it applies to land or whatever else, they're setting limits on what will be accepted as a contribution specifically for SL5B on the SL5B sims which they're free to do since it's *their* sims. It doesn't even say "no guys without shirts", it just says "no nudity of any kind" and it doesn't even apply to guests, only submissions and it's not even being attributed to coming from a Linden. I didn't say they were rewriting it for land, or anything except what's in the original quote. And the original quote seems to come from one of the organizers, not a Linden... as I already noted. Fact: the listed quote, from an apparent organizer, says that male exposed nipples are not "PG". Fact: the original and accepted definition of "PG" has no problem at all with exposed male nipples. Fact: the originator of the quote is rewriting the definition of "PG" to suit their own needs. Opinion: this could quite easily lead to confusion and/or a spurious reason to reject an application for participation. Opinion: the originator of the quote is a git. _____________________

I will admit I was shirtless at a pool party yesterday but I'm anything but mature. I'm quite immature when I want to be. I'll get some pasties, though, for such occasions but I will sell advertising space on them. Any takers?

Now let's see... It'll mean no classical art of course. No swimming or beach-life representations either.
Oh and nothing historical e.g. Ancient Egypt - all those bare chested Pharoahs! Tsk tsk. Hm, and nothing cultural such as native American avs or anything Hawaiian or Maori or Aboriginal Australian or African tribal etc etc. How eminently silly. This isn't a RL gala black tie dinner party they're hosting fgs, where you could expect things to be sedate and everyone to abide by a social dress code. Since when was a man's chest something had to keep hidden from your maiden aunt or a child anyway? Not to mention that in many cultures in hot countries lots of men go about their normal day without shirts and nobody bats an eyelid. At this rate I shall expect the edict to cover all the table-legs in non M areas any day soon. -- Aes |
