Finally got to see the preview, and one of the things that stood out for me was that there was 'Ruth'! it was like seeing a friend on TV or something, teeheehee. Yep, all my bf needs is ANOTHER excuse why SL is 'so bad', thank god he hates Law and Order too!

I really hate that there is any publicity about SL at all... RL husband calls me from the road the other day..he had been listening to Dr. Laura - not a favorable view of SL. No- I would rather they would all just forget about us and let us go about our virtual lives in peace... DR Laura is anti-Second Life now? lol I hadnt heard that. Ive listened to her show a Dozen or so times she has the empathy of a tax collector. |

It was very creepy. My friend's daughter was luck...very lucky. She basically threatened him with telling his wife, and he slithered back off under his rock. But I can't help thinking if he tried it again with someone else. They didn't involve the police, so I worry about it. It wasn't really the kids I was thinking about though. I know many 18-22 year olds that give out far too much information about themselves online. Like I said, my other friend (24 at the time) was a stalking victim from an online 'friend'. I know plenty of 42 year olds who give out too much RL information. And Now LL wants to help them give it out. Course the 3D eharmonizers (the uber RL desperate) love the idea. |

OK, I finally watched the preview. It looks well written, superbly acted and artfully filmed. I can't wait to watch it...for as long as I can stand it.

Oh no, Dr. Laura doesn't like SL? That's a endorsement if you ask me. As for SVU, I think the show is interesting and I watch it sometimes -- but like others have said they specialize in taking seemingly innocent situations and people and twist them into a perverted monster. The writers of that show can make a parakeet look evil. Besides, there's no such thing as bad publicity. I love SVU myself, of course it sensationalist drivel. It Network TV for god's sake. I love calling my brother after watching an episode. He's on the job in New York and he loves picking the shows apart. _____________________

Inspector: Have you seen this suspect? (shows picture to Oryx, atm a Raven) Oryx: oooo shiny! (grabs picture and flies away) LOL! It could happen... I'll watch the show, but only because it's on the same station as Bionic Woman (which rocks, btw.) SVU is sensationalist, but hopefully they won't end up showing virtual worlds as ALL bad. _____________________

When the series Law and Order began, I remember them saying that the stories were ripped from actual headlines. So I hope thats not true anymore in this case.

I saw that preview last night and laughed my ass off. Here's hoping it's funnier than the CSI on furries... though it's really hard to top that one.

I'll watch the show, but only because it's on the same station as Bionic Woman (which rocks, btw.) . You can see a lot of Bionic females in SL most days, her name is Ruth and she walks in slow motion... _____________________

It is bad publicity because if all the non SL'ers get is anti SL and all they push is the sex and affairs and such then u start getting a lot of questions that, entre-nous, just should not be asked.

Law and Order: SVU

Just because the episode deals with "virtual reality" shouldn't automatically have everyone point to SL, although that will probably happen since what happens here will probably a reflection of how non-SLers will look at us.
Last year there was a special on HDNet on Virtual Reality Games, I saw a trailer for it and made the same connection to SL. I was very surprised on how LITTLE SL was mentioned. I think SL showed up in just a few screen shots, but they did a pretty good job at touching many of the aspects of the virtual world and the people who behind the avatars. Overall the article was very positive. As for L&O SVU, what do you guys expect? This is a drama depicting a crime, that is what shows like this do. They take a piece of society to fit their show. Granted it will look into the darker aspects of virtual reality, which no one can deny. |

As a loyal SVU watcher, I've seen them find rhe seamy side of just about every aspect today's life, and make it an entertaing hour of TV. It's no big deal, lighten up. A few idiots will over generalize over it, but most people will have forgotten what the show was about by tomorrow morning. _____________________

The game is called AY (another You) Theres "5 million users" It calls the show "Avatar" The actual scenes are not from Second Life - probably for a good reason. But its Second Life thats the theme. |

The screenwriter is probably an SL resident. I'd say Jumpman. It would make sense.

Possible scene from the show: SL SVU liason: Sir, I think if we get the service provider to revert the region to the day and hour of the crime, we will be able to investigate the crime scene more thoroughly. I have their phone number here, they appear to be in San Francisco. Inspector: Do it! Liason: <dials cell phone> <dead air> Liason: Sir, nobody's answering. _____________________

They are showing the commericials a lot here because it suppose to be on next tuesday.
I noticed they couldn't afford good hair for the female avatar role. They were total newbies and had no budget for even prim hair. _____________________

The screenwriter is probably an SL resident. I'd say Jumpman. It would make sense. How the hell does Jumpman get a job as a screenwriter!? I want to be a screenwriter. that's a great gig. It's way better than my stupid job and I bet it pays more. Dang. Jumpman is barely literate. I can't make heads or tails of his posts and he gets to be a screenwriter. Life is so unfair. On a serious note. If I wasn't so lazy, it would be fun to write a murder mystery that took place entirely in SL, using SL characters and places. Of course, it would never sell, since it would have to be aimed at such a small market. The majority of the RL population couldn't relate. It would be a fun project, though. I've always wanted to write a book. _____________________

Trout if you really want to create something you should if nothing else you can share it with your friends.
That what I do. None of my stuff that I do I expect a audience for I do it for fun and challenge. Imagine what would happen if people only did things if they get noticed or paid? Nothing would ever be done. _____________________

On a serious note. If I wasn't so lazy, it would be fun to write a murder mystery that took place entirely in SL, using SL characters and places. . but if ya did that you couldn't use Greenies or the pirate ship at Sancta Sanctorum or Reuters or the Toon sim or Bondage Playground or Prim Hearts or Nasa's simulator or Bali or Second Wildlife or Tokyo or ... jeez ... it would be a loooong mystery if I wrote it! _____________________
