Well things like that happen when the Congressional majority allows less than 8 hours for an 1,100 page bill to be read and debated before a vote. People see that as anything but the democratic process.....it alarms them. It's scarey in that it sort of makes one think that a revolution may in the making. Lord knows there's a ton of extremely unhappy people in this country. Almost makes me wonder why I haven't made the trip to the gun/ammo store myself.

Peggy,

No matter how dumb our elected representatives may behave, we do still elect them, and we still have the power to vote them out of office. The fact that your side may have lost this time around isn't a very sane reason to start buying guns. What exactly do you envision is going to happen to you? And whom are you planning to shoot at?

Talk like yours above scares and saddens me far more than any fool thing our congressmen might do. Congressmen have been doing foolish and outrageous things for about 200 years. Why is this particular foolish thing a reason to plot revolutions?

I know you're not alone because I see this type of stuff a lot these days when I have the stomach to watch Fox News. But wow, just wow.

I notice that you don't call Lil or Amaranthim stupid for agreeing with me, choosing to mete out your spitefulness to people whom you dislike. Nice going, Dippy.
If you notice I expanded my opinion in a later post. Your precipitate over-emotional over-reaction post just happened to come first.

From: Brann Georgia
I didn't say the present situation is a figment of anyone's imagination. I object to tossing catchphrases around until they become meaningless and of mass hysteria making matters worse.
As usual, you could have presented your argument a lot more effectively then.

From: Brann Georgia
Glad I could give you another opportunity to exercise your somewhat creepy impulses to put others down. Get therapy already.
It seems I am by no means the only one wishing to suggest that you have a very naive and blinkered view of the world, if that is what you choose to interpret as putting you down in this thread.

Why the deliberate personal attacks.

It so freaking disgusting. Repeatedly harassing someone in a forum is extremely low and an very ugly character trait.

People want to come here and be able to exchange posts without blatant personal assaults on their character. Snarky and Snide and Knee-Jerk sarcasm is not what I am talking about, that is tolerable and at times funny. But these personal character attacks make the forum a sad place and make any thread ugly to read.

It really sucks to have a place where you congregate for conversation tainted by 1 person who feels the need to constantly make personal attacks in various posts without even attempting to contribute to the topic at hand.

I really wish we had a forum moderator to put an end to this crap and just lay down the ban hammer and I hate saying this but I seriously miss Katt about now when i see attacks like this *shudder*.

All she would do would be to remove the vowels in the posts

Whatever. Your opinion is null and void in my book.

The minute i start seeing that tired old "Fox news is trash" type of remark I tune out what came before and afterwards in a post. The first thing the left always does is denounce the only televised source of conservative news, views and perspective.

I cannot stomach your CNN, or MSNBC or any other liberal crap outlet. Fox is about the only station putting out any truth regarding a trillion+ dollar "stimulus" that doesnt pay out 60% of itself until after 2010 (yea way to stimulate).

We are seeing the foundation of this country attacked with a chain saw - I hope some people do rise up and fight. Thank the stars I am not in the military anymore because I would definitely be walking out on my command with Obama's pic displayed on the wall.

Pfft on you.

Correction.

They are not attacking dumb represenatives. The majority is acting with deliberate action to undemocratically sweep broad socialist changes into our capitalist society completely collapsing the system some of us know and love. Where i come from that is called a hostile action and i would love to see someone or group rectify the situation.

Because it has now brought the nation to the brink of ruin, and the very same people responsible for it, now claim they can fix it. I call BS on he entire lot of them, they all should thrown in prison along with the financial fraudsters, at the very least for aiding and abetting.

But I agree there is no need to buy any more guns. The 2 I own will suffice.

Exactly.

Let all those sons of dogs get thrown under the prison. And definitely let those damn companies FAIL. As of today AIG has been given 180 billion dollars....GM is asking for billions more. Whatever happened to free market solutions and letting companies die so that others can pick up the pieces and fill the void.

What is happening now is the most disgusting perversion of our U.S. system of capitalism ever seen.

Hell, screw it, everyone should file for bankruptcy.

Better yet, show up at Obama's speech, get all teary eyed while you cry out to him that you are homeless or that mortgage has got you down and I am sure someone will give you a home or toss you a bailout. It worked for Hernietta.

For the record, I don't like liberal propaganda disguised as news either.

I simply don't think there is any justifiable reason to advocate guns or violence to solve political disagreements. I think it's particularly irresponsible to advocate violent uprising against a democratically elected government. That doesn't even make any sense.

We are obviously on extreme opposite ends of the political spectrum. Any further discussion on this is pointless. You probably think I'm a delusional liberal freak, and I think the opposite about you. The only possible outcome from this is more and more anger.

I suggest we avoid talking any religion or politics at all, and go sip some virtual cocktails and look at a pretty virtual sunset somewhere.

I am having a 1:20pm Rum & Coke since it is 5pm somewhere in the world. :D

In the world I live in, guns and violence (usually of the military kind) have been used to solve political disagreements forever...

And i live in the U.S.

Oh snap, wait a minute, we started this country that way too! GTFO!

All too true. I haven't forgotten about "When in the course of human events, it becomes necessary ...etc."

I for one plan to stand ready with my voting power and pull the lever in anger one way or the other, if we're talking about things like irresponsible budgeting. That's the beautiful thing about our system. If the Dems destroy the fabric of our society like you say they will, then you can bet that the majority will vote their asses out of there.

If they try to go as far as to take the democratic process away altogether, though, I'll be standing there with you. Desert Eagle for me, please, in silver, not black.

I'm jealous that I can't take a sip just yet, since I'm on my lunch break at work. If you're willing to keep drinking for about 5 hours, though, I'd be happy to join you.

I hate to tell you this Avion, but a resolution of sorts is already underway. Over 1/3 of the states including your own have either passed or are deliberating 10th Amendment Sovereignty Resolutions. The reasons the states are giving for doing this are unfunded mandates and unconstitutional actions by the Federal government. If you'd like more info about this here's a link http://www.tenthamendmentcenter.com/2009/02/23/state-sovereignty-resolutions/ Nobody is advocating shooting anyone but some of the states are including secessionist language in their resolutions. I fear we may be living in the proberbial interesting times.

Time to pull out all those pulp sci fi novels I read in High School about this scenario.

Thanks for the link, I have been following this issue with increasing interest. Some of us were discussing a scenario of the National Guard being Federalized in a hypothetical crisis and whether Governors of individual states would refuse to relinqui control of the troops. I've always enjoyed historical speculation novels. i am of the mind that the Feds have been increasingly over reaching in regards to States rights, on both sides of the aisle. The elitisits who live on the coasts have to realize there is a great silent majority inbetween them, as well as among them that are getting fed up.

Of course you haven't. I'm sure you also haven't heard that Rush Limbaugh has the biggest Radio Audience in history with 20 million listeners.

You need to get out a lot more or maybe try surrounding yourself with a few people who do not think like yourself.

(We're way highjacking this thread :P)The Guard is pretty much a federalized force already. The Dick Act of 1903 made the Guard the primary reserve component of the Army and the 2008 National Defense Authorization Act, elevated the National Guard to a joint function of the Department of Defense.

This might be old news to you, but in relation to the TEOTWAWKI and SHTF scenarios in the sci-fi novels a survey was given to Marines at Twenty Nine Palms regarding the possibility of using the Marines as law enforcement within the borders of the US. The most interesting question was #46....

"The U.S. government declares a ban on the possession, sale,
transportation, and transfer of all non-sporting firearms. A thirty (30) day
amnesty period is permitted for these firearms to be turned over the local
authorities. At the end of this period, a number of citizen groups refuse to
turn over their firearms. Consider the following statement:

I would fire upon U.S. citizens who refuse or resist confiscation of
firearms banned by the U.S. government.
( ) ( ) ( ) ( ) ( )
Strongly disagree Disagree Agree Strongly agree No opinion"

link... http://www.resistnet.com/forum/topics/survey-regarding-military

We elitists will give you port use if you'll give us fly-over rights. :-)

Do you think maybe it's more of a vocal minority than a silent majority? Otherwise, wouldn't you have just won the election?

I do absolutely agree with you that urban coastal Americans and rural Americans have diverged in a way that's gone pretty extreme. I'm always shocked and appalled by right-wing rhetoric, just as shocked as you probably are by left-wing ideas. And maybe natural shifts in population demographics are unfairly leaving the conservatives out in the cold. I don't know. A large majority of Americans now live in large cities.

I think it was Robert Heinlein that said something like: modern democracies are terrible, but they're better than any other type of government out there. I can't imagine anything more un-American, though, than an armed rebellion against a democratically elected government. What would you replace it with? A down-home moral conservative dictatorship? If you instilled another "democratic" government, wouldn't you stand to lose the following election unless you threated to shoot us all? And if you seceed, how the heck to you cut the country up? Wouldn't it look like an ugly red and blue patchwork quilt?

Maybe it's a mess. But I would suggest continuing to excercise your free speech and freedom of the press, remain vigilant, point out every abuse you find, and work to elect somebody you like better next time. I know; easy for me to say because my party won. But that's what I had to do the last 8 years! I didn't like the guy, but hey, democracy spoke and at that point he was my president. I was mad, but I never threatened to buy a gun.

Journalism died in 2008.

The press cannot be trusted for ANYTHING, EVER AGAIN.

The press failed this country miserably and compromised objective journalism for partisan politics.

Well since you are Candian i do not expect you to know this, but Limbaugh is not PRESS.

It is called "Talk Radio". There is a difference.

Why don't you reply to the people that are actually talking to you about your little "anti crisis" rant.
