LOL.... Yes, at every border around the world armies are just waiting to charge into other countries and taking over power. Maybe is some parts this may be a little true... but for the most of the world it is not...

Or do you think Russia wants to conquer the US? Those bad bad communists...
Or maybe The Netherlands want to take over Belgium... and then France... UK and then rest of the world...

Morwen.

If Iraq had the biggest and best weapons, both the UK and US would most likely be ruled by them by now, and their views/moralities would become dominant.

And I didn't mention anything about it being as frequented and intensive as what you're attempting to place on me.

SL is a game; having a griefer "hit" you harms you in no manner at all. If you allow yourself to feel demeaned and infuriated, that is your choice, but I would argue that you are bringing real sentiments into a simulation where they have no meaning.
I think this is a really good point. Being orbited may be frustrating in the moment, but it's a fleeting frustration unless you allow it to become more for you.

On the other hand, think about what it's like to have your entire inventory disappear - three years of hard work - due to a server glitch (this happened to me last week, until Data Linden came to the rescue). Think about losing hundreds and hundreds of dollars while your island is offline or unavailable to teleports (this has happened to me several times and each time required a Linden employee to help me).

So you see, if you are this frustrated with getting knocked around a bit, imagine how you will feel when something really significant happens to you.

In that moment, you will hope that your Linden angels aren't off investigating server logs to see who orbited who first.

No need to repeat yourself over and over, I heard you the first time, but that wasn't the point of this argument so I ignored it.

Yes, as Jessica said, you want the rules to apply only to other people, not you. You also called everyone who disagreed with you "sheep." (And how ironic that you just now called Morwen "close-minded.";)

What is going on with the sudden influx of crucified martyrs in this forum?

I will not go into this... because I will not be the one who makes this thread explode. But maybe you should study a bit more about the US and Iraq. You may learn something...

Some punk in pseudo military outfit fired a cager at me in a store earlier. I sat and the cage disappeared.

Instead of retaliating I walked up to him and pushed him halfway up the store and said DO NOT cage people. I have a gun which could knock you 4 sims away and then crash you but I won't use it. Grow up. He apologised.

I said I would not AR him on this occasion but would do so if I saw him caging anyone in the future and he tp'd away.

Had I used my gun he would have AR'd me and I would be the one with a ban.

Alexa, just so you know: pushing somebody like this is recorded in the same way as an orbit and is a reportable offense as well. Best to just ignore them or leave.

If someone does something wrong... and there is no need for direct self defense (I do acknowledge that certain situations self defense is needed), then a "third party" (being a court in RL or Lindens in SL) judges and punishes when needed. And if there was self defense, it should be looked at if it was righteous.

You took the right in your own hands and were punished for that. Exactly as it should be.

Well, I'm pleased with the outcome of this thread.

It shows that the majority of people are for the 'First come, first assumed guilty' unwritten policy.

And no, what I said didn't happen to me at all, it happened to a friend, but it's nice to hear that there are people out there who follow the flock, it makes me feel happy about myself for being different.

I also hope the majority also see that there's a minority who doesn't agree with their views, rather then them just blindly assuming everyone's on the same morality train.

As I said before, the government and police-force are there because they have the weapons and power to be there. And standardized moralities are there, because there's more people and more power for those.

Everything before this post (because I don't want it too much information to wade through) will be used for an article project for a course I'm doing. Thank you for your input and time, it'll give me something interesting and relating to write about!

And you agree with that outcome?

Nope...if you weren't in a combat zone, I think everyone involved should have been suspended. And maybe the others were as well, but we won't know unless they drop by to tell us about it. Yes, they may have goaded you into breaking the rules, but ultimately it was your choice to do so.

Griefers live to provoke a reaction. You complied, which means they won not once, but twice...both by garnering that reaction and by getting you suspended for a fight they started. If you weren't willing to leave, whether for a specific reason or based purely on the principle of the thing, you could have just sat down and muted them. Push weapons won't work on a seated av and, by increasing your draw distance and disabling camera constraints, you still could have perused the majority of the sim without leaving your seat. At this point, you could have AR'd them or not, your choice, but they would have eventually gotten bored and gone away...bullies can't stand it when they're ignored, so that's really the best revenge.

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

By chance, and without looking on the other side of the penny.

Shoot first and ask questions later, what a disgusting system.

Is that a counter argument or a validation?

MY point was, reporting you, when you had no intention of reporting them, worked in their favour.. maybe if you had not retaliated but reported them, what happened to you, would have happened to them... I can't make this any plainer...

Im not - thats why I asked you if it happened on your land.

If it happened on your land - nothing should have happened to you.

If it happened on someone else's land - Everyone should have been suspended for fighting.

If only one party attacked the other, only the attacking party should get suspended.

No it doesn't...it shows we understand why it's done this way in SL, and what your 'friend' should have done differently to avoid suspension.

This isn't about morality, it's about using your brain, not succumbing to knee jerk reactions, and accepting the repercussions if you fail to do so.

This thread has nothing to do with how a right-winger thinks. It has everything to do with how Chaise thinks.
