Where is the gray area? (o.o)

Anyone here that already knows me understands that I'm quite trashy and a little bit wrong. Surely, I'd make a great character for a Frank Zappa song. =^-^=

I have fun. I dress trashy, get nakie, randomly streak places, build, script, chat, teach, Mentor... Oh, I could keep going. I guess I've lost taste in pixel-bopping... Ain't done it in forever. But, that's going off in a tangent. (^_^)

I have a few hangouts; Welcome Areas, NCI Kuula, my store, naturist beach... But not many. Why? Because all I ever find are extremes. (T_T)

Welcome Areas: All madness, all the time. I rarely get involved with the regulars because they're too busy working up to their 4-hour suspensions for repetitive sound spam and adult content on PG/Mature land. The new people are fun to Mentor, but, not all are receptive... Or have ~OTHER THINGS~ on their minds. (O.o)

NCI: This place continues to be my favorite location. I have friends there, the sandbox has a nice 2 hour autoreturn, and overall the experience is well protected from harassment and any extreme content. But, there's the problem. PG is enforced ad-nauseum. I'm not asking to rez a straps&chains bed and start thwacking away at someone, but, can I wear a sheer shirt or give a bit of nip-slip once in a while? No! (>_<

My store: Sure, I can do everything I want there. But, the traffic is always shoppers. It's too small and insignificant of a location for my friends to want to hang out. So, it basically turns into my place to land and IM everyone with nothing better to do. (T_T)

The naturist beach: Friends and freedom, no? Well... No. Because it's a naturist resort in the strictest terms, it's all nudity all the time. Wearing any outfits, even partial outfits, would sexualize the place and detract from the experience. So, any of the new sexy I buy can't be shown off there. Unless there's a major live DJ event that doesn't stomp on the other things I do throughout the day, I really have a hard time finding a reason to go there. (T_T)

So, my question... Where is the gray area? Where are the places that don't broad-brush their local rules with hard lines on what you can do there? And, if those places exist, where are the crowds? (O.o)

I know I'm being highly unreasonable by asking for such a place. (T_T)

But, I can't help being curious about this. (>_<

Has anyone ever put together a hangout, club, or group of any scale that holds a consistent middle ground ~AND~ gathers a crowd? (o.o)

Can girls show up topless and people simply say "o-hai" and start talking about just about anything without any pressure to RP, dress PG, gesture spam over the top of the DJ? (o.o)

Can guys show up with a 9mm in hand and be left to their own until they actually get annoying? (o.o)

Feel free to beat me over the head with the "idiot stick" on this subject. I'm just trying to find a cool medium and balance without having to TP from place to place. Mostly, because I can't find any one place where I can be "me". I usually find myself to be 'not PG enough' for PG and 'too PG' for everywhere else. (T_T)

Is there any hope for the [Partially PG Deviant] crowd? Is there even such a crowd or am I the only one? (T_T)

Last night, we had Jackie 'n Roxie, and me, and Lil, and Dances...just your average fairly normal denizens, chatting and dancing.

True. I've done the hangout a few times. I might gravitate there more. There is something about it that doesn't completely attract me, I just can't figure out what it is. Surely, something about myself that I simply have to deal with. (^_^)y

Yes. I've been known to show a little extra skin there, and Lexxi has hung out nekkie in the past. I think the general expectation is to keep it PG until after 6pm SLT.

Occasionally, when the right group is there, the vibe of the place is daring but not over the top. But mostly the vibe is definitely PG, so one has to "read the room."

Quite a few times the place has been shot to hell. But without parcel damage turned on it's just good fun.

But the stripper pole events seemed to have stopped a while ago.

I'm not going to publicly share the places I frequent, Immy, but I shall IM you inworld and make a small but perfectly-formed number of suggestions.

Pep (my perception of the Hangout is very different from the views expressed above by the way, but maybe that is because of the arbitrarily timed "watershed" mentioned - is this relevant in an international context or yet another example of American parochialism?)

PS I hope Cato hasn't installed a spy device for use when the new regulations kick in; the Hangout is only Mature, isn't it?

I am actually hoping (as you should be too Immy) that the ludicrous forced emigration to Zindra will cause the development of "New Adult" locations, where the activities are not necessarily specifically sexual or violence orientated, but where "grown-up" behaviour can take place (that doesn't exclude streaking or erotic language or games) without looking over your shoulder to see if Cato or a bunch of kids are watching.

Many furry areas are OK with the first, but most seem to be pretty down on guns. I've seen people told to remove even holstered guns.

The time is fairly arbitrary. But in trying to be open to all, we had to set a time when things could transition.

As for rules, the big one is "What happens on the Forums, stays on the Forums." Think of the Hangout as holy ground from the Highlander movies. We can cut each other's heads off here, but on Cartel grounds there is a truce.

Other informal rules:
Don't be an asshat.

If there is going to be a more mature event, even after the time, please announce it in group chat a couple times so that people who don't want to be involved can not drop in.

If one of the "kids", Mari, Dakota, etc. is around try and keep it PG.

Respect who people are in SL, What their AV is, is what they are, unless they decide to reveal more. But this goes under don't be an asshat.

What do you mean by conduct itself as it is? Do you mean like times that parties are scheduled? Because if that is the case,you are wrong since the parties are usually an all day event to cater to all time zones. And there are plenty of people who hang out there regularly who are not from North America either. So not sure what you mean.

I think he's referring to the hours you're allowed to "dress down".
