So RockAndRoll and Qie: the ideal result would be that non-Adult SL basically dies from a lack of products that show up in non-Adult searches, inducing people to verify and go Adult themselves so they can avail themselves of more of what SL has to offer to adults? Serving the dual purpose of making LL's stupid plan fail miserably, and getting more customers to Adult merchants sooner so as to minimize the pain of all this disruption?
I'm asking sincerely, even though the questions maybe came out sounding a bit sarcastic and rhetorical - just trying to cut through to the starkest essence of the issue. ![]() _____________________

um... your post makes no sense.... (unless a guy is buying for a girlfriend/wife/partner, or he likes wearing women's clothes, then chances are they won't be shopping at my store) sometimes you come across as totally clueless when you try to make (what I am guessing) is snide remarks. (still not sure sometimes LOL) Oh well... *shrug* um..... huh? So my plan is to ask Linden Lab to make search cumulative and stop this nonsense of PG not appearing when people have a higher search rating ticked. Seriously, no, for a couple of reasons. First, it's bad enough that LL has told residents to scam their search terms to fit in lower maturity levels without adjusting content, thereby increasing the likelihood of encountering pr0n on PG land--there's no reason to offer yet more incentive to do that. Second, in the new viewer they're taking away the "Adult" *category* because it's supposed to be redundant with the "Adult" *maturity*--but that only (even kinda) works if all but "Adult" can be excluded from a search. As i said in another thread:
OK big assumption, I am adult content and under the rules as they stand now we will get a move, if we don't then everyone should be OK I am optimistic about the changes insofar as that LL has just raised the value of my land, a full sim to potentially high prices, so after the move we will rethink our position here in SL and then act accordingly and if we then tier down we will have made a hefty profit on the land. We can then buy a cheap smaller plot on mature for my wifes things and continue with the other SL project we are working on and just have a sign with URL script for our RL adult website as that sign would be PG rated Problem is at the moment that until LL says these are the new rules, everyone is in Limbo. Once the new rules are out then the gaming can begin _____________________

Imagine the chagrin of the powers-that-be at Linden Lab when they find out that they can't do a bloody thing to market PG and Mature land because the supposed "minority" Adult-rated land is the only game in town. Maybe then they'll realize that there really is a problem with this whole scheme. To those who think I'm threatening you, how wrong you are. I'm glad some people like Qie understand the underlying issues. This goes way beyond juvenile threats directed at people. |

A harder case is the "always PG" folks who never had any interest in selling (nor buying) anything like Adult content. Pragmatically, they're not off the hook either: by staying on sub-Adult land and listing in sub-Adult Search, they are not merely facilitating a very bad policy but also slowing the all-important transition of accounts to adult-verified and thereby increasing the pain for Adult Content creators. I'm not going to pay extortionist prices for Ursula land just to make a philosophical point. Do you really expect me to? _____________________

I don't think you are, you're just trying to think of a way to deal with this. There are heaps of ideas around. It'd be good if we could get a general direction or approach to this that everyone understood, agreed with and with not one rating taking all the negative blow. That LL won't announce it is bloody sinister. |

Basically any one who asks to swap, needs to be able to swap, even if we have to wait as they build more. We also need to be able to sub divide our current land, taking one parcel to Ursula and leaving one in Mature if our needs cross into both areas.
For people with 512, maybe LL just need to suck it up and give a freebie to a few people. |

It has been stated by Jack Linden several times that people who get a free move to Ursula get to keep their original land and are able to resell it or keep it if they can afford the tier. Good, it needs to be flexible as possible. Or everyone that verifies gets a plot etc, there's heaps of possibilities. Basically Ursula is to small as is. |

Problem is at the moment that until LL says these are the new rules, everyone is in Limbo. Once the new rules are out then the gaming can begin While largely giving up on this whole topic, one thing catches my eye. Some have suggested that to modify one's search result to stay within the new guidelines, while still selling the same merchandise, is gaming, wrong ... even a term like utterly reprehensable was used. Working in the marketing department of a large beer company, I'm having a hard time making that connection, as that is what we do every day. We are forced to say "Drink Responsibly" when what we really want to say is "Drink until you puke, but take a cab home." If everyone started drinking responsibly, I would probably be out of a job. One of our competitors has "The Most Interesting Man in the World", which is really just a nice way of saying, "This Old Dude Can Still Pull!" I think you have metioned that you run an adult business offline. How do you feel about this? Do you think people modifying advertisements to fit the rules, is somehow wrong? |

OK, so that's "shut down my store because I can't afford to pay hundreds of dollars for land". No, just stop eating for a month. Can you hibernate or something? _____________________

That's a good point, but I just can't stomach it as far as children go, consenting and informed adults is fine... The idea of children interacting or being around with adults re sexual lifestyle is fucked up... from their side and our side. If children weren't been let onto the mainland I'd be cool with it. |

The situation is so screwed up that just by doing what seems reasonable for themselves they're forced to damage others. Of course most don't realize this, even if they're in the minority of folks who are aware that anything at all is changing. Still, they'll have a choice. It's unknown exactly how punitive the Adult choice will end up being, but it's not up to me to make the sub-Adult choice even more comfortable by continuing to buy there. But Qie, some of us actively cater to the PG folks. I have plenty of Muslim customers who don't and won't ever search on Adult. Should I make myself invisible to them? Or am I not understanding what you're saying? |

Socks for Tier Program? I could subscribe to that idea if it includes tights and stockings too ![]() Yeah, I go through those much quicker than socks anyway. _____________________
