"Logins continue to be intermittent. We will publish info when the issue has stabilized. Thank you for your continued patience."
What I find funny is that before, when the status page said that logins were disabled/restricted, I would just get a "Login Failed" message when I tried. Now that 'logins are intermittent", I actually get the "logins have been temporarily disabled" message.

Current online is down to 50,000. Assuming they did not totally screw things up with their new server rollouts this past week, the 50,000 should not be any issue for the system to handle.

I noticed this the other day, well not this obviously but people in the forum were posting a status desk update that when i went to the status page didn't show for me. There's a theory that there are different servers handling the page so sometimes the update hasn't replicated to the other server...or something like that!
I've seen the same thing. I think the chances of getting a timely update are better when you specifiy the date in the grid status URL: http://status.secondlifegrid.net/2009/01/18/ instead of http://status.secondlifegrid.net/ but I haven't tried enough to be certain. I've also gotten better updates from the twitter feed for the Grid Status: http://twitter.com/SLGridStatus than from the site.

Hey Lil ::waves:: :)

Yeah I was getting the same thing. When I saw the number of logins had gone down I got a small glimmer of hope that I might be able to squeeze in :)

the twitter grid status page seems to always have a more up to date status than the regular webpage https://twitter.com/SLGridStatus

i also look at this graph to get a pretty good visual cue as to how messed up the grid is http://etitsup.com/slstats/

The only people online now are those who were already online when they disabled logins. They very rarely have a problem so big that they boot everyone off.

[16:35] Second Life: There are currently gridwide issues - please avoid L$ transfers and handling no-copy objects until we give the all clear - please see secondlife.com/status for details.

New status message:

In world Services Unreliable:

Posted by Status Desk on January 18th, 2009 at 04:26 pm PST

Most In world services are at reduced functionality at the moment. Please avoid L$ transactions or handling valuable (no-copy) assets until we post an ALL-CLEAR. Regettably, our ability to broadcast a warning in world is also disabled. Please let your friends know if you’re logged in.

And my login bar is farther than it has been in a long long time

Yeah, this shows pretty well how the Traffic Generation (for faking traffic for better search results) works. Clones, Bots...and yes, some campers who are out in RL, not recognsing that they camp their 500 alts in vain - transactions malfunctioning. Sorry, people, sorrry...

Problem so Big

Right. people boot off themselves most of the time, in case there is a BIG problem (In fact, there is ONE big continious problem since they desperately try to impose the obviously not really working 1.25 server deploy on us, not to mention the culminating database problem, not to mention the awful viewer "improvements";). So why bother? Pffft.

yes we now know how many bots there are... it's 35,501

It's my first post here tho I lurk a lot, but tonight has really dented my confidence in SL. How is it acceptable that a premium member who pays into the platform regulalry cannot login when she is quite sure that the half dozen traffic bots sitting on the edge of her sim are quite happily there and oblivious. If these outages continue LL have to address the issue of bots and campers and non contributing resource sucking parasites. 35000 online but the world is dead lol.

They won´t really do anything there cause they need to make the world believe that this s NOT an highly entertaining, but extremely buggy and unreliable betatest program with an actively participating chosen few sponsors (the fools who pay zillions for some server space and a mediocre service), but an overwhelming online experience attracting millions and millions and business and education and all this and more, who live happily ever after they logged in for the first time....

They simply need the high numbers for their propaganda.

Better to miss work this way than lose much more value in a final database or system meltdown. The outage and system malfunction record of the past week speaks for itself.
