From: Graphicguru Gustav Well, as some of you may know, Graph (that’s me) had proposed to Claire Silverstad, and she said YES!!!!
! You should start by getting the lady's name right - always a good ploy that. Graphic - congratulations. Claire - happy birthday and wish you every happiness.

From: Marcel Flatley Quite a weird comment Maggie. Of course it is your good right to find SL weddings weird, but a great lot of people don't and even take it quite seriously. It is the second part I find weird. Why are people who marry in SL weirder then Goreans? As a person who does't roleplay either of those, I really do not see the point. Then again I do not roleplay at all, which may be the reason. But I would never call people who are planning a SL wedding, bizarre. Nor would I call a gorean roleplayer bizarre. People marrying in RL are a bit more bizarre though People roleplaying Gorean lifestyle in RL are a lot more bizarre even Marcel Marcel Getting married is not only a romantic thing. Its a legal status and legal commitment which as such doesnt exist in SL. Marriage is also a commitment to a family hence something very serious. At the very best you can "play" getting married in SL, simulating it like most things in SL. But you can not get married in SL, fullstop. I think its bizzare when somebody thinks of SL marriages as more then the above. I could imagine that hard core SL players repeat their RL wedding party in SL, fine. Lets not loose track of reality Why are they weirder? Because Goreans know that they just roleplay.....people who get married in SL also roleplay but are possibly not aware of it. Hence my post was an attempt to establish weather Graphic and Claire "play" or ..... Your last sentence: Yes Gor in RL must be the weirdest thing of all Maggie

From: Magdalena Siemens Marriage is also a commitment to a family I guess you don't approve of women marrying if they've past menopause or are otherwise unable to have children, then? And I'm sure Claire and Graph will have a lovely wedding, regardless of whether they have your bigoted approval or not.

But the third job, some call it, uh, "the show" or "the big dance," it's the profession that every linden aspires to.

From: Magdalena Siemens If so Goreans are absolutly normal and you guys are the bizzarre ones.... <<nods>> Maggie HAHAHA! Love it Marcel, you made her drop out of character to explain her point ... which really borked the point in the first place. Lighten up, everyone. An Amreican human is wanting a wedding with a british cat and we are wondering why a gorian panther thinks it odd? I don't think Magdalena is being malicious at all. She just sees things with a different perspective.

Well no one drops out of character if he or she doesn't want to SL is a place where everybody can act out his or hers fantasy I guess, (well as long as its not ageplay, gambling, or banking ). Wether it is a marriage ,a gorean life, or a trekkie, each their own. All three are things I would not practice in real life. Well neither in my second life but that is not the point. Just let everybody enjoy what they do, I guess that is my point. Even goes for dutch cowboy vampire whatever things Greetings, Marcel

One more thought before we derail the whole thread... humping poseballs is roleplaying too, but together with using the hand that doesn't type, people manage to get pretty real feelings it seems Now I do wonder what feeling corresponds to a marriage, and how one can achieve that in SL... Anyway Graph and Claire, again best wishes Marcel

Graph and Claire: People are going to wonder if they should buy you gifts. Do you want gifts? Or do you have a favorite RL charity that could use a few extra dollars? Why not set out a donation box, and then write a check to your RL charity with the donations? Congrats!

Love & Peace!
03-18-2008 10:10
Well... We really appreciate and thank everyones support, really we do! I never thought in a million years that I would actually fall in love with someone in SL but that is EXACTLY what happened. and it aint RP...its love! And I think Claire deserves a wedding with someone she truly loves both in SL and in RL, so I am giving her a wedding, eve though we already eloped! I don't feel hurt by the comment made by Maggs, just a little confused as to her mindset is all. When someone is in love, they tend to overlook anything out of place...OH and Maggie, you ARE intitled to your opinion...but this thread is not an opinion thread. Claire and I are simply declaring our love before many witnesses, but not before judges. So please consider what I say here...we are truly in love, and not some RP passing fad. You are welcome to the party we are having Saturday, and to our wedding as well, but not to crash them. From: Oryx Tempel Graph and Claire: People are going to wonder if they should buy you gifts. Do you want gifts? Or do you have a favorite RL charity that could use a few extra dollars? Why not set out a donation box, and then write a check to your RL charity with the donations? Congrats! Actually, we have everything we need. so if it is OK with Claire, any donations will be given to a worthy foundation that helps new citizens in SL get settled into SL, or a cause that works towards high retention of new SL citizens. From: Max Herzog Wanking and weddings in the same sentence. Post of the day. Max...I love your dry wit, I nearly fell out of my chair just then! PEACE!

Well, next time you have a party, put up a tips jar for the wedding. Often times at a weding there is a money tree or money dance in RL. Bring that idea in. You et to meet a lot of people. Some of these might be able to help or donate useful items for the wedding as well as tips. Ill send you some L when I log in. Congradulations to both of you!

From: Max Herzog Wanking and weddings in the same sentence. Post of the day. Where did you see me type the word wanking? Might as well be something completely different. Like zapping from scene to scene in a porn flick. Porn and marriage in one posting, is that better? Marcel
