Some days sl looks like a WW1 battlefield with so many banlines and warnings to depart it isnt funny. I have NO banlines. Whatever I own (and I own a lot of land) I maintain as free to enter at any level. I challenge anyone with banlines to do the same. If people want to cam in on me and see what I am up to, I think that is great. I dont mind. The less we make of privacy in sl, the more sl will become freer and grow. Drop the banlines. Cut the wire. Cut the strings. Are we human or are we dancer?

From: Scylla Rhiadra Oh wow did you ever just date yourself . . . That's from, what, like the 60s or something? OMG, now there are TWO old wrinklies answering my thread. Honestly, Scylla, what created that era? I see videos. I can't believe people bought that music or watched those films or wore those fashions. Or created that art. Or ate that food. Thank God, its 21st century! And there's places in sl where it's been imported, for God's sake.

From: Scylla Rhiadra It's the hair, the hair. I can never believe the hair . . . They all looked like sluts. And I always think they have caramel stuck in their hair and odd substances. There is nohing wrong with a nice pair of clean blue jeans, a whitecollarless shirt (I really like those this time of year), a pair of lace-ups to look schoolpreppy stylish, and a nice razorcu or blunt cut with hair just a tad to purple rather than raven black. And a silver bangle. 1950s Georg Jensen earrings. Lovely.

From: Scylla Rhiadra Did that era even have CULTURE? Yeah, but it was in the yoghurt. They thought it was cool to make it in machines at home. My Biological Dad had one. I made him throw it away.

My Dad had this place in the Bahamas and he made yogurt in this machine that he bought at a Rotary Club giant garage sale there and I was just a kid and he used to get all panicky when it didnt work. He kept it in the fridge coz it is so hot there. Then he made tandoori chicken with the yoghurt. And mixed it in the conch fritter batter. OMG CONCH fritters!!!! YUM (wow, I know this is sl but I havent thought of that for ages)

And although I've never had a conch fritter, that sounds like a reasonable use too. But my mum used to (still does, in fact) prize her yoghurt as a thing unto itself. And she eats it raw. And sticks spoons up in it to demonstrate how much "oomph" it has (i.e., how "solid" it is . . .) Ewwwwwww

I used to make yoghurt a lot. All you need is a thermometer and a vacuum flask. You just heat a load of milk to the right temperature (can't remember what it is, but around blood temperature ... also can't remember if you boil it first then cool it), stir in a bit of shop-bought plain yoghurt (it doesn't need to be "live" but I don't think UHT would work), stick it in the flask and leave it overnight. The best yoghurt I ever made was from a spare bucket (yes, bucket!) of fresh Guernsey cream

From: Dekka Raymaker Early 80s and yes I am 51 years old Well, in truth, of course I knew that. And I actually like some of the music from the late 70s . . . Joy Division and the Clash and a few other bits and pieces. So I was being unfair, really . . . I was being unfair to yogurt too, but who cares? It's just trendy mould.

The best yoghurt I ever made was from a spare bucket (yes, bucket!) of fresh Guernsey cream This all sounds rather vague and therefore dangerous. Ie. it sounds like something my Nana might do and make me eat, so I kinda hollowed my mouth and swallowed quickly. "A load of milk" - load? "Around blood temperature" - around? "Can't remember if you boil it first" - can't remember?? ""Can't remember what it is" - Can' remember again? "I dont think UHT would work" - are you sure? "Stick it in" has as much accuracy as "bung it in the oven". I hope you were meaning to sound vague in a jokey way, otherwise you could be a menace to society. My Nana's Dandelion Wine had the same vague references I think that is why I am now a recovering alcoholic. This is absolutely true: my Nana used to pick wild mushrooms to "economize" and had a cook/house servant and my Mum used to get him to feed the dogs with the mushrooms in their food just to make sure it was safe to eat. (Thinking of this, I realize she could've made HIM (the COOK) eat the mushrooms first - that is what I would have done)

Aside from the WWII era, the 60's fascinates me no end. So much of the music was the genesis for what is happening today, recording technology really began to expand. Yes, it was a mess politically and socially, but there was so much to explore and create new. Being born in 1970, I saw it through my older brothers' eyes. For good and bad it was an important decade in America's history. Oddly enough the Even numbered decades seem to have arguably the greatest significance in the shaping of 20th Century America. The 80's are also fondly remembered, being my teen age years and moving toward adulthood. It is also one of my favorite musical eras.
