yes the cs passport malibu was the best 'freebie' skin in 06/07 hands down.
/me hopes to avoid a stolen skins debate.

i dont think its flat. it does have a less photo-sourced look wich i really like. the super photoreal skins creep me out, they look like a death mask.

I find Laqroki's a bit flat and paint-like. What do others like about it?

flat?

Haha! I think I just bought the same skin ...

It was the hairline that impressed me the most (and yes I did go back and buy the one without "demo" written all over it!). It just proves how different the same skin can look with different shapes.

I like CS on others, but I have never found one of theirs that suited my big square chin.

This thread is hazardous to my inventory.
I have a ridiculously stuffed skins folder and I have never tried Redgrave OR Laroqui-definitely my first stops as soon as I get home to my 'good' computer.

What I currently have is a lot of Tuli (love!) and some 'Your Skin/Your Shape' I had gotten a gift copy of a YS/YS just before the lagfest that was RLFL.
I loved it because it had a soft pixie hairstyle drawn onto the skin, so I could go primless but still not be bald. I've bought a couple of their skins since.
They also sell a great cleavage enhancer-it's not as exaggerated as others I've seen and it's tintable for 50L.

I would just search for skins, TP to each skin store, grab the demos, and go home and try out all the skins. It's almost as good as going to the skin fair. You'll probably miss the more obscure stores though.

This is the skinfair that started just now: Slurl provided in the blog.

I can't see that anyone mention Dutch Touch in this thread yet. It's been my skin some months now. I have most of the skins in Caramel, as shown.

Oo I know this one it is the Vanity Universe sim! It opened noon in SL and that was too late for somebody who wanted to go! I hope her guts did not fall out while she was waiting to get a skin.

LAQ (my current favorite)
League
Exodi
I like the older LF CHAI skins.
There are many others too but these are ones I have experience with.

A lot depends on you shape. Also your sense of style and choice of colors you wear make a difference.

This is from LAQ

And this is one of the older CHAI skins

One of the reasons these are the skin makers I picked is the because of the upper lip. I have been seeing many designers using more shiny enhancements but it gets to the point that the septum looks like a snot trough. It makes me think of a runny nose when you have a cold. These that I listed usually do not go to that extreme.

I LOVE this one.

Thank you.

The best thing about Launa Fauna's skins are all the makeup options. This is a also taken with the environment set to sunrise, which goes well with the gold makeup.

Yeah, it's certainly the warmth of this shot, in part. But there is also something a little more sort of tousled and "real" about your look here. You look like someone who just got out of bed to answer the door, and invited him/her in for tea.

Oh, and you have a delicious half-smile. :)

Skins by Fior di Perle are lovely, reasonably priced and come with loads of make up types. She does natural skins and gothic/fantatsy skins too.

Pearl has a blog where you can see the skins she has

http://www.fiordiperleskins.blogspot.com/

Her shop is in the mall so follow the link in my signature. They are well worth a look

I guess you have not seen the "uncropped" version.
the aspect ratio is a little off, but ...

LOL

Maybe if it was even less "cropped" I'd see the real reason for the half-smile?

It reminds me of a joke my grandfather used to tell in his unguarded moments about a camel, and the sphynx's "inscrutable smile" . . . ;)

I still have never found a good blond skin. Why do they all have brown eyebrows and brown pubes. This has been true for boys and girls.

Another thing that is hard to find is red lipstick on a fair skin. The flesh toned reds are the current main availability.

The final thing is the dark eyes. The majority of skins feature very dark eye liners. I found one decent M. Monroe type skin, but it did not match the overall quality of the LAQ ones, which are also my current favorite.

I wish LAQ would make more skins for men, I take any man I know looking for skins to the LAQ shop, but the men ones have not been updated in a long time.

I found this place the other day. http://slurl.com/secondlife/Stoned/75/221/22

I can't remember what the shop is called but I thought the skins were some of the prettiest I've seen inworld. They're not what I'm looking for but I've tucked the LM away just in case I ever need it.

Wow can't believe peeps are still wearing CS passport skins. For good almost free skins I was just referred to Cybernetic thru my Fabulously Free in SL group, only 1L & they're great! For a bought skin I wear Red Queen, it's got an edge to it which suits me altho I use my Redgrave Letitia altered shape for it. I like the new Redgrave & Belleza skin as well but not as much as Red Queen. LAQ skins are nicely made but too sweet looking for me.

I think the shape is really important...even more than the skin. Everyone has their own idea of their perfect body.

Tried every demo I could at the Skin Fair, and still nothing looks right. I must have an unusual face shape or lip shape. Nothing looked completely normal. Even if the face was not bad, the eyebrows looked like Groucho Marx'. Why don't skin makers offer red and blond versions?

So after literally hours of shopping (mostly due to lag from multiple lagbeastie prim whores) I'm stuck with Redgrave Venus. At least there is one skin on the grid that fits.
