*Waits for the next "LL Stole My Money Again!!" thread*  There is a learning curve some of us never make..... And it's funny that although LL is "stealing" your money, it's apparently okay to piggyback on someone else's internet connection they are actually PAYING for themselves. Chaos might be interested to know that piggybacking a random wireless connection has been held to be theft by the British courts. And what kind of fool arranges for an internet connection from a company he already knows is "expletive deleted useless"? |

The problem is SL itself, and how it talks to the networks. A terrible connection doesn't help of course but when such a large amount of people are screaming about a problem you can't just single out Chaos and blame and ridicule him even if his flippant tongue is quick to say it the way he feels. Chaos had created a very aesthetically dramatic place with Felonhall. he has talent. But here he is using this primitive technology called SL to try to create his worlds and he can't even log in and see anything. He'd be better off spending all his time on Softimage and Maya to do his creating. Yes he might need a better computer and a better connection, but SL is going down for many people and the issues aren't just networks and computers. |

I dont know what the actual answer is.. I just know LLs response was at best...flaccid. That's a very good way to put it, and now I know why we still haven't seen the promised blog entry... ...the Lindens are still waiting for their shipment of Lie-agra to come in to firm up their flaccid reasoning. |

Sadly, SL has been plagued with various ills since it began. I've been playing at least 3 years. Lag, Unable to log in, log in- can't move, log in-long waits for anything to rez, can't TP, and the list goes on and on.
Usually the feed back is, well you don't have a Galaxy Super-Whiz PC with quintuple graphics cards and 50 GB of RAM like WE do. That's alot of help isn't it? I have upgraded my PC several times, for marginal increases in performance, but each SL "update/improvement" seems to make me lose even more ground. I admit if SL wasn't so darn beautiful, I'd have been gone along time ago. _____________________

Yes, LL needs to change from using UDP to deliver most of the data - it is a known poor connection type. Problem is, for the current bandwidth utilization, there isn't a better connection type currently. Even if LL went the extra mile and put in a rough ack/nak system for the UDP, it would bog 80% of the machines down to a point that SL would be even MORE unusable. I do free admit that LL needs to make changes - but the issue here is that LL is being blamed for something entirely outside of their control. |
