{panel:title=UNDER ADVISEMENT| borderStyle=dashed| borderColor=#ccc| titleBGColor=#F7D6C1| bgColor=#FFFFCE}Good Afternoon Everyone! While this PJira has received a tremendous amount of attention from the community we feel that that this is not the best place to be voicing your concerns. Pjira is used by developers and engineers and this has turned into an issue of policy. A blog has been posted with a discussion thread https://blogs.secondlife.com/community/features/blog/2009/06/01/adult-content-changes-in-summary and you can sign a resident created letter of protest http://www.slapt.me/wiki/index.php/An_Open_Letter_to_Linden_Lab. Also, feel free to attend Blondin's weekly Office Hours http://slurl.com/secondlife/Hanley/205/218/25/ on Weds at 330pm PST.

Oh come ON! PJIRA never was the place to discuss policy. The JIRA was well-intentioned because it was a technical discussion, but as usual the message got diluted by the same off-topic stuff that filled up the discussion in the thread here.

Any serious attempt to get this changed is being watered down by the people who just can't stay on-message. So LL are just ignoring it all and doing it their way anyway. Any chance that anyone had to change things is pretty much gone by now. All anyone can do is document what we hear. A great shame, in my opinion.

So I see the discussion thread is being locked.

Yes, but it's OK, further "discussion" can continue on a blog. Oh, except I seem to get nothing when I try and go to the blog, just a Firefox error.

Still, at least Blondin made an appearance on that thread. To say it was being locked, but an appearance all the same. We must be grateful for the little things in life.

Thread locked, Jira closed, transcripts not coming through, many meetings in voice. You'd almost think they don't *want* this topic debated..

I'd say they don't. The discussion phase is over, in my opinion. Now it's strictly "Here's what we are going to do".

There's nothing a megaprim hedge can't hide, anyway. Having to hear the occasional neighing of a startled virtual horse is a small price to pay for our-world-our-imagination.

Probably as useful as anything any resident has posted in any of the Adult Content discussion for all the difference it'll make.

Well, to get over to that new continent, you need to be verified. Which means either you are, or some adult decided to knowingly fake the system to put you there - which would constitute child endangerment in most places.

Incorrect. You can verify with payment information. 20% of American teens have credit cards in their own name, and can verify with that, without lying or asking an adult for help.

I have never met anyone who admits to wanting it. I certainly don't want predictability despite living next door to Beastiality-R-Us. There's nothing a megaprim hedge can't hide, anyway. Well, for one I think it should have had adult zoning from day 1, the longer they leave it, the harder it is and more people get upset, they should have done it with the last new continent thay added.
Ask the US Government and Linden Lab if they are against it.
Only problem I see is Aristole doesn't work, I can verify with random names and drivers licence numbers and any address in the phone book.

They should have done it by separating PG and mature, from day 1, instead of mixing them up. They should do it*now* by moving the fraction of people who want it instead of the majority who don't care. They should have done it by implementing a parcel privacy function, and letting anyone mark their parcel as "adult" and having it simply not render for people who didn't request adult content. And they should have implemented it like Google's "safe search"... you don't have to verify to bypass Google's porn filter.

The question isn't "who wants some kind of adult filtering?", it's "who wants what LL has actually done?". The answer is "Nobody".

Um actually I like what LL have done other than the fact the verification system is flawwed, it's much easier to create a new dedicated R/X rated adult only continent than move everyone who doesn't want to live in porntopia to new continents.
How many people would be happy if they suddenly found the current mainland became PIOF or verified only?

Under the new policy, it'll be possible for you to have a parcel in a PG region directly adjacent to a strip club. As long as PG regions are scattered randomly among Mature regions, there will be problems.

Second Life is an 18+ service. Perhaps current mainland should be PIOF/Verified.

Where did I suggest that? I didn't, did I? In fact the text you quoted said exactly the opposite, didn't it?

Do you believe that requiring verification is a requirement? Is that an aspect of the scheme you consider desirable?

The problem with what LL is doing is that the people who don't want the change are the ones being asked to pay for it, while the people who want the change get a free ride. That's why I believe they should have created a new PG continent instead; that way the people who wanted the sanitized SL experience would be the ones who would pay the time and expense of moving.

Yes, they SHOULD have done it from Day 1 - totally agree.

But they didn't, and they were landed with a mess.

Now they're doing what THEY think is best for whatever reasons best known to them. They obviously don't feel that the residents, their customers, deserve to be involved in that dialogue about whether it's best or not, just about how best to implement it.

Folks, the goose has been cooked, the decisions have been made and it doesn't matter how much we complain and object it ain't going to change.

So now you have a choice - make plans to live with it, or leave SL. it seems to me that anything else is just a waste of effort.
