Cornered during an interview by Copper Robot last night..when asked who exactly were all the people requesting the grid wide AO mayhem... Lindens said they had started the process over 2 years ago...people were asking for more predictability...<arghh that word again>...when pressed 'all the people' became the educators, business blah...(basically many not in or using SL <and still wont> oh and they also talked one to one...... Now if you were one of the masses of one to ones...hands up now....

From: Storyof Oh people were asking for more predictability I love that statement, my point being that when you first enter SL it seems predictable that if you never want to see adult content, the first place to go to will have a couple humping and if you want adult content it will take you days to find it.

Now if you were one of the masses of one to ones...hands up now.... You mean the Businesses they won't be having...the ones that will instead choose OpenSim or Blue Mars or some other alternative.... Educators tend to have their own sims, and what few RL Businesses that are here tend to do likewise. I still think its to do with bad media coverage about SL and it's general image....that and the posibility of Congress passing some bill relating to children and their online activity ...sometime in the future. The rest are all LL smokecreens, particularly that farcical quote "predictable experience" which they hide behind.

I have never met anyone who admits to wanting it. I certainly don't want predictability despite living next door to Beastiality-R-Us. There's nothing a megaprim hedge can't hide, anyway. Having to hear the occasional neighing of a startled virtual horse is a small price to pay for our-world-our-imagination.

I agree, it's not just SL becoming censored, it's the net as a whole and society even. Just a crap swing in social phases atm.

Ohh, forgot to add, by "predictability" I'm sure people meant not crashing every 5 minutes.

They denied that recent govmnt moves had anything to do with it..being 2 yrs ago in the planning....however if this was also the case they have been creating and selling mature mainland for 2 years knowing that it ultimately wouldn't 'be fit for the purpose'....<i.e. anything goes>...is there a trade descriptions about that?
And 'predictable'...they STILL won't acknowledge that a login survey conducted when SL was a crash an hour almost...resulted in us requesting more predictability as in can we log in today for over 20 mins.....

Heheh, Dekka..they are just prims and scripts..oh and whinnying soundbites...poor things don't even get a vote on this. Lets all blame them for spoiling it, despite us all suspecting its corporate interests. It's much more amusing

What educators and businesses?
The ones who gave up two years ago... in 2007... because nobody bothered to visit their corporate-ego-trip islands?
What happened to them was completely predictable.

Anybody know how long it takes for Copper Robot to get the podcast updated? I couldn't attend this meeting because I have an SL job to attend at the same time as his podcast meetings take place, and I'm still waiting to have a chance to listen to it.

From: Tiffy Vella I have never met anyone who admits to wanting it. There have been people posting here who claim they wanted it, though when pressed they describe what they wanted as something quite different from what's actually happening.

I'm still utterly confused about how this is all supposed to work.
For instance, I understand that residents can do as they please on a 'Mature' sim so long as they are effectively behind closed doors but how does that prevent a curious minor from directing his camera in on a bunch of fornicating avs?
Or overhearing harsh language for that matter?

What happened to them was completely predictable. Not *those* educators and businesses, silly! They've got a whole huge marketing effort directed at different educators and businesses. You know: the ones who get it this time. Unlike last time, when the educators and businesses didn't get it so much. Or, as P.T. Barnum said... uh, well, never mind that. Oh, in case you were wondering where they got the funding for that marketing campaign: https://secure-web6.secondlife.com/account/landfees.php

I've met a number of people that say they prefer (PG) land because they don't want to see nakies running around all the time and sex clubs around every corner. (^_^)
What I haven't met is any one person who said (Mature) goes too far. (=_=)y

Or overhearing harsh language for that matter? Easy. Nobody cares. Minors are not allowed here anyway. Just continue to AR the minors off the main grid since they have their place on the teen grid. (^_^) The KEY concern is finding sex in search. The Lindens want it so that when you search for sex or sex related places/products; you WILL land in an (Adult) rated sim. Otherwise, if you're not searching for sex or any sex related places/products; you'll have the gambit of (PG) and (Mature) regions at the click of a teleport button. (^_^)

I own 11712 sp m of main land next to a PG area. I have had 2 naked noobs turning up here and they came from a PG area for new ppl. There are no sex clubs around so I for one have not had an issue. A business I know of and go to often is ABC island for those who are not Aussies it is a TV/radio station here largely funded by she Australian government. It is a PG island so they can control what goes on there as i would assume any business would choose to do who really wanted to make its presence known in here. I have visited a few businesses in here and they tend to be empty one reason could be those who are in the country can deal with the real thing those not in the country have no need to.

When I first bought my 512sqm 1st land, a free sex park opened up next door and you could hear the cybering in open chat when on my land.
So yes I'm glad they are moving all the porn businesses to "red light" sims as land zoning is a good thing.
I'm also in favor of having more checkboxes in the search. The more things we can filter the search on, the better.
The problem with the system I foresee is by requiring people to have "payment info on file" or "adult verified" to be allowed to use the adult search or visit the adult land, it will significantly damage those adult businesses.
